Poison 08 - Something To Believe In - LIVE
• Poison 08 - Something ...
Poison: Titulo del concierto: LIVE RAW & UNCUT - The verizon wireless amphitheater St. Louis Missouri. (August 02 2007). Something To Believe In es el tema N°08 de este concert.
Lyrics
Well I see him on the TV
Preaching 'bout the promised lands
He tells me "believe in Jesus"
Steals the money from my hands
Some say he was a good man
Lord I think he sinned, yeah yeah
Twenty two years of mental tears
Cries a suicidal Vietnam vet
Who fought a losing war on a foreign shore
To find his country didn't want him back
Their bullets took his best friends in Saigon
Our lawyers took his wife, his kids, no regrets
In a time I don't remember
In a war he can't forget
He cried "forgive me for what I done there
'Cause I never meant the things I did"
And give me something to believe in
If there's a Lord above
And give me something to believe in
Oh, Lord arise
My best friend died a lonely man
In some Palm Springs hotel room
I got the call last Christmas Eve
And they told me the news
I tried all night not to break down an' cry
As the tears rolled down my face
I felt so cold and empty
Like a lost soul out of place
And the mirror, mirror on the wall
See my smile it fades again
Uh, give me something to believe in (Uh, give me something to believe in)
If there's a Lord above
Uh, give me something to believe in, yeah (Uh, give me something to believe in)
Oh, Lord arise
Sometimes I wish to God I didn't know now
Things I didn't know then
Road you gotta take me home
I drive by the homeless sleepin' on a cold dark street
Like bodies in an open grave
Underneath the broken old neon sign
Used to read "Jesus saves"
A mile away live the rich folk
And I see how they're livin' it up
But while the poor they eat from hand to mouth
The rich are drinkin' from the golden cup
And it just makes me wonder
Why so many lose and so few win, ha
Give me something to believe in (uh, give me something to believe in)
Give me something to believe in (uh, give me something to believe in)
If there's a Lord above
Give me something to believe in (take the high road, give me something to believe in)
Oh, Lord arise
Give me something to believe in (take the high road, give me something to believe in))
Oh, Lord arise
Oh, give me something to believe in (take the high road, give me something to believe in)
Oh, Lord arise (take the low road)
Give me something to believe in (take the high road, give me something to believe in)
Oh, Lord arise (take the low road)
Yeah, sometimes I wish to God I didn't know now
Hello Travis and Suzy … with Veterans Day soon , this would be a good video to react too for it. I was at this poison concert in St. Louis in 2007 and they always play this song and dedicate it to our troops and send a live feed overseas to some of the bases there. Poison has fun party rock songs as well as love ballads and deep songs like this one. Been rocking since 1986 and just finished the stadium tour this summer with Motley Crue, Def Leppard and Joan Jett ….. they are the most fun band that came from that era still today. … now enjoy a dose of poison !
Hey y'all .Bret Michaels invited me on his your bus and we talked music 🎶. Añd then it got personal . My sister was in the hospital in Iowa City . With stage four breast cancer. She was supposed to go to the concert Poison was on there 20th anniversary your. Bret told me about him and his daughter having diabetes. So Bret asked me if I had my car . We drove to Iowa City University Hospital . Bret spent about an hour talking to my sister. He also sang Something to Believe in to my sister and autographed a ton of stuff for her. He then proceeded to say prayer with my sister . This man has a big heart 💕 and one of the and would do anything for anybody if at all possible. Bret and I keep in touch with each other via. Phone, email and ihook up with Bret when ever Poison or his solo band. Bret is one of the most caring people I have ever met . By the way my sister is doing better and goes to Poison shows with me to enjoy the music 🎶 but most of all talking and visiting with Bret .Bret Michaels is one of the most down to earth 🌎 people I have have ever known. So fo now Peace Out and God Blessp
I too had the pleasure of meeting Bret and like you said he was such a nice down to earth guy. He really does listen to what people say when you converse with him & he's positive , cool & not condescending. I've been lucky enough to meet quite a few rock stars but he is my favorite. Billy Idol was also super cool as well. Great sense of humor.
The Vietnam vet is Brett's cousin and the friend in the hotel room was his good friend and bodyguard. Great song
poison is under appreciated.
Poison are really a great band who are mainly about having a good time and enjoying the music and sometimes they throw in a message. When these guys are clean and sober they are an entertaining and solid band.
I wish he would sing it like he did on the music video I mean it’s so good on the video
These words are so true to me.. a time I don't remember ..a war he can't forget.. My brother-in-law committed suicide in his son's front yard.. My nephew heard the gun shot and went running out to find his father with a shotgun shell in his chest.. This is how messed up he was for years from Vietnam... that he would do that in his son's yard... I remember my husband coming to our bedroom where I was nursing our son and he said my brother is dead..I knew which brother it was.. he had just been messed up for so long.. SAD
As good as this live performance is, the Official Music Video of the studio version has much more impact, emotionally.
Why live??! I thought it was the music video then I heard it was live and stopped. Sorry good song but the video is the one to watch. Love your channel though.
@@mikes.6751 this, this, and this again. while the live version is good. there's no raw emotions like the video encapsulates. especially on Bretts face, when he gets to the mirror mirror on the wall. The video / pics of his bodyguard friend were put in without him knowing. When he see's that while singing he almost breaks down and you can clearly see that in the video.
"Now enjoy a dose of Poison" was brilliant but seemed to fly over your head, we did appreciated the cleverness in it Rockhard86.
Being a massive Poison/ CC fan since 1986 I can tell you, Poison has always been positive/party atmosphere type band (except after they fired Poison and hired Ritchie Kotzen, who is an incredible guitarist, but way bluesier and it took them in a different direction that lasted one album and tour) eventually CC got clean and sober and they hired him back in the late 90s. But they're philosophy is Rock N Roll shouldn't be to serious, its about fun, party, escape from the day to day grind, and just have nothing but a good time at each show. They're all really good guys, humble. CC has always been hilarious and he's a really fun guitarist.
Watch the video with lyrics. It’s deep and will hit your heart and soul.
They are doing the 2023 year stadium tour with motley crue. Continue rocking babies
Ben watching them live since early 90’s. Always brought the party atmosphere and all around good vibes! Brett is a great front man
Lol you can tell she’s not a gamer. Saw Poison so many times. First time was at Hammerjacks in Baltimore. Miss that place saw so many bands there. Shout out to all who grew up in Baltimore in the 80s and went to Hammerjacks.
They have always been this way
I support our military 100%... but wasn't Veterans Day last month? Great song, great reaction.
Love this song .. enjoy Your Music too .. be blessed always 💯❤️✌️🙏🤘
Exelente mas exelente musica
I'd have to say most of their songs are fun songs and just kind of feel good stuff. Nothing but a good time
Great 👌 job with your reaction to Give Me Something to Believe in from Poison. It's still wear to thinking that Awesome Guitar Solo from CC DeVille could have been Done By Slash if CC didn't pass the addition for Them.
Love this from my early childhood
Still together.. Brett Michaels. CC Deville, Bobby Dahl. and Rikki Rockett
True Story...Brett wrote this song about his best friend and bodyguard. Brett tells the story of one Christmas morning being awakened by a phone call telling him his best friend was dead. he had died of an overdose. Brett said he completely broke down , because he knew what a good man and wonderful friend he will never see again. Brett said he was then asked if he would tell his family. Brett said he was never the same.......Watch the music video it tells the story
Forgot to tell you there 20Th Anniversary your was in 2000.
Pretty good reaction but I wish you guys would have read along with the lyrics And responded to everything that he was saying
he lives 20 miles from me
🔥🔥❤️❤️❤️🥰🥰🥰😍😍😍
Daaaaaa.thats brett dummy
Give me somethin' I can heave in....
To all our service members, thank you for your service! My father was a 22 year Army Vet and served during Vietnam. I was in an Army family since I was born and it is really sad how this new generation has been taught to hate their country by liberal idiot professors and teachers. Never thought I would see the day our elementary school children were being taken to Drag shows by their teachers and schools. Indoctrination at its best. Anyway, my father was a good man and I buried him with honors at the National Cemetery in my hometown. I try to explain to people who never served that if it wasnt for men like my father and others we wouldnt have the freedoms we are given in this country that lots of people take for granted. USA!!!!!
