The Jackson 5 is truly incredible. Micheal was from an outer world. America didn't deserve him, they treated him like crap. He'll always be one of God's great gifts to this world.
I actually remember this episode seeing the Jackson five watching Michael and Marlon grow up over the years. Losing Michael is almost like losing a close relative. He and the Jackson's had such beautiful singing voices r.i. l. Rest in peace Michael you were a once in a lifetime perfor
You can hear both the pain and the love in his voice. That's why he sang it so well. It's why it's called SOUL music. He felt it and he communicated that to the audience.
The Jackson 5 were the total package! They had everything you look for in a group. They can sing, dance and even play their own instruments! They were ENTERTAINERS
Jackie was the leader. He was the boss; and he was so proud of his little brother. Michael was always glancing up at him as if he was saying, "Did I hit that note right?"
We can't take it away from Sammy - as far as being an all round entertainer [song, dance, comedy, and acting] he was amazing and l still think the best. But Michael has to be the most creative song and dance man and performer ever.
@JayTooSavy In what Michael specialised in - yes, as l have already said, l totally agree. He was sensational, and totally original with his creativity. It was Sammy's diversity, and his ability to captivate my attention whenever l got to see him, on TV, as a kid, in Australia, that l will never forget. They were basically 2 diff eras - and l don't like cancelling out one, just because of a new one. They both have their place in History for me
@DeGrate1896 Thanks. One labelled the King of Pop and the other Mr Entertainment. Sammy's Tribute Concert, near the end of his life, was totally moving.
The J5 simply the best there ever was. I'm so blessed to have been a child in that era with all of that great music. It was a special part of my childhood. There will nor could ever be another music era like the '60s & '70's. So much going on. RIP MJ, thanks for being there for the good times.
Yup!! You are absolutely correct. Good old Soul N Rock n Roll ended in the 70s. it became a different type in the 80z. Thank God some of these entertainers stuck around through the yrs, to entertain us "old Skool". MJ Always 😍🤗💖
NO MISTAKES ABOUT IT MIKE TRULY HAD THE GIFT. ALL OF THE BROTHER'S HAD TALENT, BUT MICHAEL WAS THE GOLDEN CHILD. HE REPRESENTED A SWEET OLD SOUL. ONE OF A KIND IN THIS LIFE 💃💞💕💓
I remember this performance. It was The Jackson 5 Debut on NATIONAL Television. (THE HOLLYWOOD PALACE) hosted by Diana Ross in October of 1969...They went on to introduce their first single at MOTOWN a song called " I want you back".
Charles...this is the truth...I was actually in that audience for the taping! If you use the scroll bar and go back to when it starts at 0:00...I'm in the suit sitting to the left of the guy on the right with the white-shirts and glasses...I was 17!!!
Actually, for publicity purposes, Motown had Diana Ross introduce the Jackson Five. But it was Bobby Taylor of Bobby and the Vancouvers that "discovered" the Jackson Five and not Diana Ross.
I Swear Hearing This Makes Me Feel The Sadness The Song Speaks Of His Voice Is Strong And Angelic And That Smooth Spin And He Reversed Back Around Only Michael Could Make It Look Smooth That Way
Amazing!!!! The Jacksons knew how to sing them ballads. Glad they shares their talent with the world!!! Ahhh Michael he was such a adorable little boy!!!! So cute😍
"Can You Remember" is one of my many favorites from The Jackson 5. For me many of the "filler" recordings were the best! As a child Michael's vocals and phrasing were remarkable!! Truely God given talent!
Same here. Others I always liked a lot were "Maybe Tomorrow", "I'll Bet You", "Can I See You, In The Morning" and several others. I also *really* like the way they did the song "I Got A Sure Thing" with Jermaine on lead vocals and Michael singing some strong harmony parts (released on the CD 'Come And Get It - The Rare Pearls').

Mike was 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥. I remember that moment on Hollywood Place all of our Moms were calling each other on the phone and telling each other these boys from Gary, Indiana were on television and they just got signed to Motown.
He looked so much like janet when he was this age. They were so good. Got to see them live at Madsion Square Garden, NYC in 1970's. I could not believe my eyes. They were so good, they sounded better live, then they did on their records. And it was unbelievable, for a kid that young, to dance so well. He was amazing. Never forgot that show. Awesome!!!

By the way, thanks for the full intro, which completely explains why Diana put Michael's name out front!

The Jackson 5 used to do those heavy Soul songs early on and it is said that Michael knew more than 100 songs by heart at an early age and Berry Gordy thought Michael sung those songs with so much conviction that it would creep out the listeners who heard a young boy singing painful songs.
