🤔 NEW HERE? 🤔
Hi! My name is Christopher Odd and I’ve been playing video games on the internet for a few years. I really enjoy a variety of games but generally lean towards games with a unique and engaging story (Bioshock, The Witcher, Cyberpunk 2077, The Last of Us etc), strategy/roguelike games (XCOM 2 War of the Chosen, Darkest Dungeon, etc), and RPGs (Dark Souls, Elden Ring, Dragon Age, etc). Of course, I am always looking for great indie games too!

Stay frosty, punks.
Frozen
(Hoth+Odd=) Hodd
Just call it what it is, Saskatoon
Will you be playing the second part of ff7 coming out?
Hey name idea, Rephridge. So close to refrigerator but a little classed up
You can tell Chris doesn't have kids.
"Those dang kids, always getting injured in the coal mines, and now they want double rations! Tell them to eat snow!" ;)
I think he actually does have a kid.
@@anthonychilds8193 Not unless you count Walter as a kid. ;)
You act like keeping every kid alive has some sort of value! Once a burden, usually always a burden.
In tough times, the strong can't afford to carry the weak, especially when carrying oneself is already hard enough.
@@Secret_Takodachi That's how a species goes extinct. The concept of "Women and Children First" exists because it's the way that humanity has survived this long. One man can father many children in 9.5 months, but a woman can only make one. Children are the ultimate expenditure of resources for a reason: They are the continuation of the species.
Chris has a daughter
"I like child labor!" Odd 2024 . (Context, people...context!!!)
And in Context, pretty much no downside and you get a TON of extra Labor force.
Delighted to see this game make a return on the channel! I love Frostpunk and didn't even know there was going to be a sequel until right now! So that's extra awesome!
I do have a couple bits of advice, if you want. Frostpunk is a game where the phrase "Victory lies in preparation" applies so strongly. Try to anticipate problems and get solutions rolling as much in advance as you possibly can. Naturally this isn't always achievable, but I've found in my play throughs that it helps quite a lot.
One thing that is deceptive about this game is which resource is the most valuable. Is it wood? Steam cores? Food? I found that the most valuable and most extremely limited resource is actually people. Your workforce can get you anything and everything, and there's only so many people you can get in the game whereas you do have ways to get unlimited of everything else. So don't be quick to throw away survivors because you don't think you can support them.
My fondest memory of the previous playthrough was during the big storm, people were dying left and right and you shouted "QUIT DYIN'!" And it just made me laugh so hard, the desperation of it. Best of luck this time around!
I am not sure, but if I remember well the steam cores are the other limited resource that you cannot simply make as much as you want.
But its true, people (and automatons) are fundamentally important.
@@TheBlobik True. Steam cores and People. Steam Cores are Reliable once you have Tesla city. Until the storm freezes it over.
Wooohooo, so excited to watch this series with upcoming Frostpunk 2. So Excited!
Also, i would name the city, The Last Iceland
Or, The Odd Iceland
The last "greenland" and have all your buildings as hothouses
Town name :Odd'sicle
Tip: When moving scouts on the map. Send them to locations you've already been explored. That will save time on their journey.
I propose the name Niflheim, from Norse mythology.
I really like this game. It's been a while since I played it (on hard), but I rather liked the challenges 👍
I can't wait to see how you deal with the cold ❄️
I do still remember a few tips, if you're interested.
Ah, you asked for tips... alright, so one thing it took me a while to realise... at first do NOT send people out to gather resources. They'll get sick quickly, and it'll snowball 😉
Instead always use the gathering spots. They'll gather faster and be much less likely to get sick right away.
I'm SO happy you're playing this game, Chris! You're gonna love it!
The children yearn for the mines!
One tip I'd give is that generator range upgrades are absolutely not worth it and spreading heat with steam hubs is the way to go
So true!!!
Will keep that in mind!
interesting view... I'll keep that in mind.
Its worth it if you focus on coal production because of the space you can save by crowding all the residence into the generator ranges. Early on though definitely a better idea not to use it unless you either have lots of people and charcoal/thumpers or lots of mines.
Love watching current Odd vids and old! I’m here for this! My night time (setting the Vibe) sessions are currently filled with your Witcher 3 let’s play. I never finished it and I love the way you thoroughly play through games. The best to do it! I’m eternally grateful and thank you for your content!
A few tips. If you want to maximise efficiency, let people build in free time, they don't need to sleep. Also people don't get sick after 4 am, so you can safely turn off the overdrive from then. It's only useful from midnight to 4 am, if the goal is to reduce sick people. You had the right idea, when you dismissed children and added new ones. While you can't manually assign people, healthy once will always be prioritized over sick once. You just didn't have more children that wasn't sick.
I went back and watched the series from years ago. Masterful work and a thrill ride!
Oooh, really good timing! I was just looking for new frostpunk content.
Building the hype, I see. I love how you fit your welcome message into the game intro. Well done, Mr. Odd!
Getting ready for the sequel I see! Loved the original playthrough! Hope you can handle the heat of hard mode, or I guess the cold in this case!
I hope you play the DLC/scenarios as well, expands on the lore a bit I believe!
I'm putting on my merino fuzzy socks, those poor little frozen people.
I am excited for this! Love Frostpunk.
I had been hoping for this since you mentioned it during War Hospital. So hyped to see you give this another run and I would 100% watch all the scenarios.
When playing on hard, you should try to micro-manage some of your buildings, such as pulling workers from cookhouses if you got no food to cook and pulling workers from med bays if there are no sick people in them. Also, when I played last, also about 5-6 years ago, I remember that people only got sick at night, so if no one is in the sick bay at the start of the day, you won't get any until the next night. this doesn't count for frostbite or workplace injuries, they'll get sick and/or die at any time. Also, from memory, P is the hotkey for pausing and unpausing, and that is for building as well as operating buildings.
Oh damn I love that you’re playing this! One of the few city building sims I really love and enjoy. I’m so hyped for the sequel
So Odd I will say that after watching you game for the last 5 or 6 years and watching almost all of the videos you have on UA-cam I never question how you game and I just sit back and enjoy the Odd in all his glory! Keep gaming the way you do my man you rock!
Wow, perfect timing. I just finished your previous playthrough. Came back to your home page and refreshed--lo and behold, a new run has started! I'm looking forward to this journey and seeing if you go just as mad towards the end. 😆
Good luck, Commander!
Protips: only use wall drills for unlimited steady wood income; also a beacon and scouts are key. Discontent and Hope are just resources to be used (having Discontent at 0 or pre-ultimatum high is the same).
I do hope the New Sequel makes those more than just resources. Like Random negatuve events have a Higher chance of occuring at high Discontent and Low Hope etc so its not just a resource where the onpy thing that matters is whether you are close to full or not.
@@arnowisp6244how do you know that's not the case already?
@@handtomouth4690 Yeah. The City is already built and established. Now we just have to maintain it.
Don’t forget each medical post can handle 5 people per day. Also Engineers in medical posts at night are immune to disease.
Immune at night? How so? Is that explained somewhere?
@@ChristopherOdd it may be explained, but to prevent death spirals, all healthy engineers that are employed in a functional medical post or infirmary do not get sick.
Edit: they can still get sick or crippled if they live in a house that is frozen or very cold during their down time.
You could call the city something like 'Frozen yoghurt'. Might incentivize the children to work harder.
I say call the city Oddinburgh. You must be a mind reader - I was just listening to the amazing soundtrack today and thinking I should re-play this. Please do all the scenarios. I think Last Autumn is my favourite but On The Edge has the best theme music
Oh man!!! This is one of my favorite games!! Really hope you turn into a long series. It's been so long I've played it last time I don't even recall many of the events, so I feel it's going to be like playing for the first time again ❤
Excited to watch this one!
ASK! AND WE SHALL RECIVE! LOVE THIS GAME AND LOVE YOU PLAYING IT! keep up the great work, my friend.
I guess I'm psychic. I just started watching your pre-release playthrough after watching your War Hospital videos. So glad to see you bring it back! You got this!
Looking forward to watching this, I've been thinking about going back to this series.
Love frostpunk and im so excited for frostpunk 2
I definitely would love to see you do some of the other scenarios. I’ve seen this one 100 times but I’m still here for it
Thanks for playing this Odd, been looking at getting the game and you playing it always helps
Good to see you going back to Frostpunk, the say way i did when i saw trailer of Frostpunk 2 :) hope to see you play through all of scenatios :) good luck and keep warm
I love you went in to Frostpunk, absolutely the superior game to war hospital
I can already tell im going to enjoy this series as well thank you Odd
We do need frost punk series, besides, the way you play and narrate things is just great, keep the excellent work!
Awesome another series to get addicted to! Thanks for the great work
Hell yeah, I remember the last Frostpunk LP being really fun, so I cant wait to see how things go on the hard difficulty run. I do hope that you also play the other scenarios, especially those that were added with the dlcs.
It'd be nice to see you go not only for the harsh/efficient choices, but also for some more humanitarian ones. They're your people after all, and I think some of the nicer choices also have their own rewards
Hell ya some frostpunk! The trailer for the sequel really put me in the mood for this game.
I love your channel, your content, and especially your soothing voice. I'm so glad to see you coming back to this game, it's one of my all time favorites :D Hope you do some more!
Odd: should I make the kids works?
Me: make the little free loaders carry their weight. Double shifts for all!
Tips that I remember when I played Frostpunk couple years ago:
- You just need hunters when it comes to getting food in this game, because of what you mention, about building hunters hut on the most outside circle, where you would not build anything else. So you can build a ton of those. And you can skip Hothouse research entirely.
- Coal Thumper can actually be pretty OP building, when max upgraded, to the point where you won't need mines, because you can build them anywhere and again, you can have loads of them. The only problem is you'll need a lot of workers to keep up with demand , so try to save as many as possible when exploring.
can you still do the house squeezing trick?
cant wait to see Odd the Great, berserker smash this run by the end. Good Luck Commandeer 🖖 I'm here for you the whole way
This game is how i first found the Odd community. Let's go.
Excited to see a series come up for this game! I missed this when it released, but playing Against the Storm now I see this mentioned as another good modern city-builder. It seems like a completely different vibe, but I am interested to follow along and get a sense of how this one works.
I am glad to see this coming out and look forward to number 2.
Out of rehab and find some new frostpunk waiting for me?! Super excited!
Going north would not be my first choice when looking for warmth.
I think the reasoning is that vegetation and wildlife would already be used to colder temperatures as opposed to say the equator, it's already getting cold everywhere.
I guess I wouldn't last long then but if I'm in London and looking for something warmer, I'm heading south.@@ctrlaltdelicate
I believe the reason they went north is to flee volcanic eruptions and anarchy in the south and go to the (thought to be) pre-established generators placed on untapped coal
Oh my god! Seeing Odd play frostpunk again gave me hardcore nostalgia. I love this game and I’m so excited for the sequel. Hope you can play all the scenarios too; it would be a wild ride
For the name, I'd like to submit Glacier Peak. Not only does it sound badass, but it alludes to the frozen darkness that lies below the surface.
Oh boy i loved your last play thru!
Love Frostpunk! I don't have time to play so it's great to see your playthrough come along. I can now put it in the background and listen while I do all that stuff that keeps me from doing my own gaming. Heh :D
Remember, children are a resource.
I love this game. I'm more than happy to see you do a play through. It would be a great lead up to the second one.
Ah, so excited to see you back in the Frost Lands, Odd! I had so hoped that you'd play the other scenarios after finishing A New Home way back when on stream but you never did. Here's hoping that you do them all in anticipation of the sequel! Can't wait to see all of the decisions you've made, both good and bad. This scenario on hard is, well, hard!
I bought this after watching you play through the first time around. Can't wait for this, and for you to cover Frostpunk 2 when its out! 🥶
as you went up north of london this should be called burningham :)
Your original Frostpunk-videos was the my introduction to your channel. Can't believe it's been 6 years already o.O Looking forward to this re-run, and keep up the good work!
Going to love this one I have a tingly feeling
I have 2 advises too give if you are max whit wood build houses and pause them immediately if you deconstruct you get the resources back and the other tip build 1 - 2 workshops together to get better work speed efficiency
PS: sorry for my bad English
So jazzed to see the return of frostpunk!!
Love watching u Mr Odd, so glad u are doing another frost punk play through and I’m already looking forward to a Frost punk two play through! You could call it Steam City or Steam Town good luck
You should call it "The Frosting Horizon" 😄 and yess I'd love to see a Full playthrough of this game by you Mr. Odd!
Odd arguing that the children yearn for the mines!!! lmaoo. Really enjoyed your original playthrough, cant wait for FP2!!!
Sweet, looking forward to this. 👍
This game is my favorite. So happy you played it. I can't wait for FP2 when it comes out this year
I do absolutely love this game, one of my all-time city builders.
Send sick workers to scout 👍 you’ll notice the number of sick people will fall when you do.
Another tip - place buildings before roads to make sure you fit as many buildings as possible in your heated zones. (Notice the tent next to your cookhouse takes a lot of space?) good luck!
One of the best strategy games ever made for me, outstanding design and immersion. Just incredible❤✌️
Excited. I don’t know why but I fell in love with frostpunk and have been craving for lore, games, etc. And I normally don’t play city builder type games.
Oh wow I'm so glad you're replaying this game cause I saw Frostpunk 2 trailer before and wondered if you were going to play that.
Since you wanted a name for your city I thought of Azure Abyss cause this is a bleak scenario.
“Chill-Ville”
Nice, keen to watch this LP. I’ve only played the game once and only just made it to the end, tense AF, probably on default difficulty too, but very enjoyable, atmospheric story. Hope I learn some tips and tricks for another run.
Hype! This game always gives so much epic chill everytime! (no punks, i mean puns, intended)
You're cool glad to have stumbled across your channel
I played this game so much when I ended up getting it, think I did like 15 different play throughs lol so so fun and pumped for the second one!!!
Long time watcher, first time commenter, I started watching with Red Dead Redemption 1 when working nights and have been watching since. You have gotten me into many games (backpack hero, Knights Tale: King Arthur, Dark Souls 3, and Balders Gate 3, to name a few). I've enjoyed your play through so far and look forward to more 😀
welcome frostpunk friend it's a cold world you will have many things to do so cheer up
Love Frostpunk, one of the few games I 100%ed.
Wow I'm really excited for this one. Frostpunk gives me cozy feelings during winter. Just one thing, I love that you are playing on hard because easier is boring but just be aware that this game kinda requires previous knowledge to beat it on hard. One can make up for it though by playing really well, which I recommend you to do :D
Man Frostpunk was such a good game, and I only got it because I saw a gameplay on UA-cam, maybe it was yours, I dunno. But it led me to find awesome music based on it and to get into Snowpiercer. It is a great game and I got a lot of it, even if I'm pretty rubbish at it.
First video of the channel I am watching.
Within the first 8 mins: Child labour.
(this was fun to watch. can't wait to catch up to the rest of the playthrough!)
Welcome!
Come for the Canadian. Stay for the child labour.
Missed you playing Frostpunk!!!!
Perfect time to revisit this to get hyped for the sequel!
this is exactly what I needed
Frostville is a good name for the City.
Me personally loved to see you do all the scenarios especiallu the dlc its so different
Maybe something inspired by the god Prometheus from Greek mythology. Giving humanity the first fire and the ability to invent and adapt.
That's actually a really cool idea. A spot of hope in the cold darkness. Promethea maybe?
Another great game :) for the name I like "Winterhell"
Hey Odd. I'll like your video as long as you continue and play the 2 scenarios and the 2 expansions that lead to Frostpunk 2. Deal? 😁
In New Zealand we call Ice chests chilly-bins, so I would name the town THE CHILLYBIN😂😂😂
Idea for a name "Leighton Blizzard"
Leighton buzzard is a town just north of London for any non UK watchers 😂
Workshops have better insulation than houses and don't have to be too close to the generator.
For the name, I'd like to submit Freonia
Aw yeah the Mr Freeze ice age is back
You should definitely try thr Last Autumn
Tell me why I didn't get the notification for this upload, UA-cam!!
I'm here for it, I remember seeing your last series (didn't have to specify how long ago it was, that hurt)
Pro tip: there are at least a thousand play styles that will lead to victory, and at least a bilion that will not.
Your right, chilling intro, that ship is insane too 😳 🔥 😎
