I M BACK 7 years later after my initial comment… MARGIONO GIVES THE GREATEST VERSION OF ALL TIME. absolutely DIVINE; gorgeous voice (compared to so called 'reference versions'), evenness of color, interpretation, class, … OOOO M G !
Perfect singing and interpretation - this is absolutely unbeatable. I believe this was probably the voice and artist that Strauss had in mind when he wrote the VLL - he just didn’t know it at the time!
WITH VERY WELL DESERVED STANDING OVATION AT THE END… the audience was smart and woke enough to realize they were witnessing GREATNESS. doesn t always happen. I m thankful for that too!
I'm enjoying listening to a lot of different singers singing this Strauss song cycle, and for mine this is definitely up there with the very best :) It's a beautiful interpretation without being overdone and I really love her voice !
What I love about “Im Abendrot” is that all other renditions of this has a fast intro. This conductor likes to keep it slow and in so doing it develops feeling and you can sense the majesty that the Diva is about to perform. I heard this on a Readers Digest music CD and I lost the CD and I desperately looked for it again, thank you for submitting it to UA-cam.
Wonderful. I only heard about this lady some 30 minutes ago. I was playing Jessye Norman video, and whilst reading the posts, came across the recommendation for Ms. Margiono. Prior to hearing her sing these songs I could only think of Ms. Norman, but now I must revisit my opinion. Ms. Margiono is one fine singer, and the orchestra accompanying her are quite something.
Das ist das wunderbare Ergebnis eines Schwarzkopf Meisterkurses zu Beginn von Charlott‘s Karriere! Wirklich beeindruckend und eine der besten Aufnahmen der „Vier letzte Lieder“!
@@eckistein6553there is a great deal more to this excellence than a small one-time master class. Credit to the artist! ( who probably learned some good things from many of her predecessors.
I like her tone better than Popp for this material and it's a much more soprano tone than Norman and much fuller and warmer than Schwartzkopf. And all of them are cleaner than Fleming.

Потрясающее исполнение!! Спасибо Штраусу за то, что я узнала эту певицу!❤

Splendid... gotta love The Lady. Such a grand, honest, dignified and musical rendition. Margiono in her prime was absolutely unbeatable.

This is the best performance of VLL that I know of
Soile Isokofski.
@@winifredtrout1 That one too. The one with Vanska, not the CD version with Janowski
thank you for that!

I just got introduced by Elda Laro with this amazing singer! O My God! I will never be able to listen to VLL from any other singer! Impressive!!!!
So so beautiful!
Wunderbar gesungen.
Und SO soll es gesungen werden!

Wunderbar besser als alles, was ich bisher gehört habe❤❤❤

The best singer of the world!
Meraviglioso ❤❤❤
I know of several performances that come as close as any to this but I know of none that are actually better.

This concert was on February 20th 1993!
I've never heard of this singer, but this is not bad at all
You can hear the wonderful influence of Schwarzkopf in her voice but such a much more warm and expensive voice!
THE GREATEST RENDITION E V E R ! SUBLIME!
(move over, Elizabeth Schwazkopf and Jessye Norman! Sorry!)
miuzefreak I totally agree. My favourite version so far. Wonderful.
@@robertjschroff6307 I know, right! I regularly watch it.
Actually Schwarzkopf coached her in this. It's her influence that you hear. :)
@@zalamandrus3953 Thank God she didn't take the extreme 'singing into the mask' thing too much to heart
@@zalamandrus3953influence …yes. This artist is doing her own great thing. Credit to many who came before…but this genius belongs to the performer.
