My favorite part of smoking is rolling up, usually bust the nugs up by hand before rolling blunts. Adds way more time but allows me to pick out every stem and the weed is always the right size for good airflow. If you grind it up too fine it’s hard for the smoke to come through and you get a clogged blunt. You can get grinders that grind courser, but I enjoy doing it be hand. Nice to have a some chunkier pieces to allow airflow between them. Usually takes me like half an hour to bust it up and roll it, at least when I’m half focused on watching tv. Friends hate that it takes me so long but I’m always the one in the friend group tasked with rolling. They roll faster but it’s never even half as good as my blunts, their shit either won’t start chugging till like halfway through, or they get a stem poking out of a hole somewhere, or you get mad scooby snacks in your mouth cause it’s not rolled tight enough. Rolling fast is cool, but I have yet to find someone who rolls fast and flawless. Joints are a whole different thing, way easier to roll once you just tuck some paper behind the filter and roll it into itself.

Now try to get half way through that without the tip getting completely stopped up with resin... this is why all my joints I rolled with filter tips made with the straws and foil pouches from XXL blunt wraps.. trust me.. spend like 30 minutes and cut the foil pouches into little 1/3rd inch strips and then cut the straws into 1/2 inches and fold or roll the foil into the straw bits.... youv got yourself atleast 10 filter tips that are not only better than the raw tips but FOR FREE..... THANK ME LATER

You mean the filter/tip? A roach is what's left when the joint is over. Specifically a joint that doesn't have a filter/tip because the resin makes it all look brown. You can still call joints with filters/tips that have been smoked roaches but a roach is normally what is left over after a joint that doesn't have a filter/tip.
