How in the hell did Lori sit there straight faced knowing and seeing her little girl's body cut up like that? She is a monster.
If she really truly believed the delusion that, and I believe she did, she was “dark” and a “zombie” (a sick way to justify), then she didn’t see her daughter. Her daughter was already dead and her body was possessed and needed to be destroyed.
I personally don’t think Lori was there for that part. I believe she likely drugged her and then Alex and Chad had to finish the rest. They killed her. And attempted to dispose of her body and it didn’t go as planned so the rest was panicking to bury what was left.
JJ’s burial was more calculated and clean. From the grave to the way they wrapped up his body.

She asked to be excused but when she was not excused she didn't look apparently she slept . It seems she realised how bad it was that she didn't want to watch maybe she ll come to some realisation as time goes on? That she was deceived ? Also on pretty lies and alibis she got information from a lifer who said that the longer people are in prison the less they believe in religion even though people would think they d have more faith. So as time goes on she may realise?

She probably would have found a way yo kill Chad if they had gotten away with their plan. All love affairs eventually become common and everyday relationships. Chad and Lori were no exception. God was not in their sole, the Devil came along and got into their soles. He's laughing because he'll finish them off in Hell. Just my imagination for their demise. Hateful people are so alone.

Particularly disturbing, disgusting and distressing to hear about bones being severed, crushed, etc. Horrible, simply horrible.
The theory of child cognitive and personality development says that every child needs at least one adult whom they can rely on no matter what - their refuge in the choppy seas of life. And funny, feisty Tylee on the cusp of womanhood knew her mother was her rock. And that’s why I think what they did to Tylee was the worst betrayal of all.

It’s mind-blowing how many people’s lives have contributed to justice for these kids. People who devoted their career to analyzing bones, or text messages… it takes a village to raise a child, and it takes a village to find and vindicate a child. Thank you to the many, many experts who do unpleasant work.
Its so many man hours on this, what a waste of time. Because it is all completely preventable and tragic.

They really are heroes. I don't know how they maintain their mental health hearing these details and seeing what they see. So many would not get justice without their hard work and sacrifice.

Thanks so much, Nate, for all you do. I'm a retired court reporter. CRs do have to get every word and do. It's all done phonetically. Blends of vowel blends, called diphthongs, and consonant blends along with phrases that are put into outlines. Such as, "as a matter of fact" is stroked as, SMA FT. Boyfriend is, B OEU FD. OEU is a vowel blend, and sounds like oi. The letters are one stroke and that's what helps to write, stroke it, at 275 to 300 words a minute. Judge Bolcie is a CRs dream. He tells people to talk slower, one at a time, and even has witnesses spell some words. CRs do closed captioning. They use machine shorthand that uses symbols/ letters mixed together to mean one word or letter by sound with their own dictionary and their software changes the symbols, letters, into English that you can read. Pressing the letters HR together can actually mean H and R, but it's also the letter L and the word , will. Therefore, you can stroke HR and the Letter B, on the other side of the machine, and you have " will be". It's very easy to learn the writing but the hardest part is learning how to do it fast. It's an associate degree, and it took me 4.5 years ,part-time, night school to pass my last Q and A test at 275 WPM. CRs can send the Judge messages like, turn your microphone up, wait for the answer before you ask another question. Chad Daybell is toast...in this old CR's opinion. You rock, Nate, and your family is adorable.

I still have not heard one thing yet, that would get me to vote guilty on the charge of murder in the 1st of JJ, and I seriously have doubts about the actual murder of Tylee... Conspiracy? without a doubt, but murder in the 1st for JJ and Tylee? Im not there yet.

I thought it was very effective to put Tylee’s friend on when they did. It really brings back into focus the reality that this is a real person. Someone who was important in the lives of others and was loved. ❤
It did. It also showed how normal and loving her relationship to Alex and her mom was up until they suddenly moved to be near Chad. The monster Chad really got to them.
When the friend said Tylee just stopped answering it really hit me
And all the things her friend will get to do like college marriage have a family a life. The things tylee will never get to do 😢

IMPORTANT! Tylee's friend's testimony today was more to show this young woman who's alive and thriving. Compare Tylee's friend's to what the jurors saw of all that is left of Tylee, just bones and horribly injured and chewed. I think the jury could see that Tylee was a living breathing human that could be sitting with her friend. But all that's left of Tylee is remains, horrifically burned, stabbed, and God knows what else. That is the significance of Tylee's friend coming in to testify.

The neighbor who was called "nosy" probably saw what Chad was doing with the body and surprise he died quickly.

Has anyone else made the connection between the cozy cone's window and the children's graves where Cud can keep his nasty eyes on his handiwork? Murderers often enjoy returning to, or keeping, the remains of their victims so they can keep the same kind of control Chud is known for. When the mature detective spoke of Tylee's remains and shed a tear... I hope this jerked the jury's emotions as it did many of us seeing this via the internet. The main idea of this is not where the kids were murdered... it is to prove Chud did it and colluded too.

Just a clarification, Nate: 'Perimortem' doesn't exactly mean before death, that would be 'antemortem.' The term 'perimortem' specifically refers to the time at or near the time of death, so Tylee's injuries may be part of the way she died. 😢

I realized that I had just always assumed that the kids were drugged & unconscious before they were killed. But when you were going over the testimony about JJ’s autopsy I realized that he may have been conscious. I was horrified, and the condition of Tylee’s remains is further evidence of evil.
Unfortunately I think JJ was conscious of what was happening. There would have been no need to put duct tape binding his wrists and over his mouth. A 7 year old boy. It’s just beyond belief.
The placement of Ashlyn's testimony was to insert Tylee's humanity as a young sweet girl in the midst of all the technical testimony about her condition. Simply a reminder to the jury that all of it may seem repetitive and downright awful... this is what happened to Tylee, a young girl that should have had her whole life ahead of her but it was taken from her in a horrific manner.
I felt that Prior was not as animated today. It’s almost as if he realizes his client is guilty, the state is building a case that will be hard to disprove, and he (Prior) has put so much effort and energy into trying to defend the indefensible that he’s now just tired.
You can definitely see the dark spot on the photo of the property.
I hope the jurors paid attention to the ISP chemist who testified that there was gasoline present in Tylee’s remains. So, that says someone put gasoline on her remains to encourage the burning.
What struck me about the FBI a tool expert testimony was that the bones were broken by the force of the blows.

On the satellite image of October 9th 2019, it wasn't cloudy. That is smoke from the fire Chad had going to burn the "limbs and debris" (Tylie) 😢 IDK why the prosecutor didn't point that out.

Nate, remember the video from the storage unit and you could see them dragging out a big rubbermaid container and it was obviously very heavy. Could that have been Tylee’s remains? It has never been brought up but it was shown a lot when they retrieved the video.

It wasn't a Rubbermaid they were carrying, it was the back seat from the jeep. Alex removed it to make it easier to take a shot at Brandon when he drove down to Arizona. If I remember correctly, removing the back seat made it so he could lay the driver's seat all the way down.

All I can say is there’s only ☝🏽 BOOK of HOLY SCRIPTURES and that is the BIBLE…but someone with mental illness determined to see themselves as a GOD seems to create twisted versions. The followers who are only interested in these scenarios also have some notion of GRANDEUR. It’s SCARY and believe me the SCRIPTURES warn of this so we must have discernment and WISDOM. These things are both shocking, horrific and I believe CHARLES truly did his best to WARN others, family and the authorities.

No they went over Chads charges and there is no charges on him or Lori.
I think it's because they couldn't prove it beyond a doubt because it's possible that Alex Cox was the physical actor. I could be wrong but I thought the death penalty was only valid if all charges were guilty which meant the fraud/money charges are a risk but shows a further/longer connection.

I've really been shocked at how willing not just Nate, but a lot of non-essential people in this trial have been to spread illness amongst each other. The best thing that came out of the pandemic was people respecting each other's health and not going into work coughing, unless absolutely necessary. So weird to see that certain states have just gone back to giving grandma pneumonia cause they wanna see a trial.

Today was like a long episode of Forensic Files :) It was very smart that they placed Tylee's friend in between experts. It kept the humanness of Tylee in the jury's minds. The prosecutors may have a psychologist consultant helping them plan it this way.

I submitted a question last night that you addressed about a video I had seen on the internet of Julie Rowe stating she told you she knew Chad killed the kids before they were found…. When I saw your answer, I questioned myself that maybe I had misunderstood what I saw… so I had to go find it… and yep she sure said it!

She told Chad to turn up the pain. She totally knew. I believe that Tylee was going to tell about Charles being murdered in front of her.

I'm from Ireland and I started following this case 4 yrs ago when the children went missing. I started following east Idaho news then.
How did he do this so that none of his kids would come by, "Hey, dad, what's with the bonfire?" One would assume it would take a lot of gasoline to cover that smell? I am HAUNTED by what may have been done to Tylee. I hope she didn't know. And JJ... the tape on the mouth? Tammy putting up with Chad and then this? I want so desperately for this all to NOT be true. And I dont even know them. Praying for all families who miss their loved ones, esp due to violent crimes. 😢❤😢

I heard years ago when all sorts of FOIA documents on this case were coming out that Lori told her neighbor (the day after Tylee was murdered) that they’d had a big party and she was sorry if it got loud. The neighbor said she didn’t hear anything. This makes me think Tylee was murdered at Lori’s townhome, and Lori was trying to have an excuse in case the neighbor heard the struggle 😢😢
And Chad made her scream and suffer! I cannot quote exactly what he said but it was sick!

I think that Chad told Mrs. Gilbert, what happened when he said, "She didn't like people, and she didn't like me."
I think Lori and Chad wanted to be together, untethered. They couldn't control Tylee, so she had to go. Tylee was the one who really cared for JJ and took care of him in a maternal way. That's why he had to go. This is evidenced by what Lori said to David, the morning after Alex brought a "sleeping" Jj home to Lori's, and they were doing a podcast. "I couldn't take it."
They really are evil. I hope this jury can see through the fairy tale that Mr Prior is weaving.

Nate - to answer your question - I would watch the trial daily except I can’t stand Hearing Prior speak so I watch your recaps and other recaps. I watch clips of the prosecution - I turn off when Prior starts his cross. I sometimes turn off the sound and read the subtitles. Thanks for your trial coverage.

What each of these victims went through is unimaginable and not knowing how Tylee died can leave one to go to the darkest of places. I can only imagine what’s been going through the minds of the jurors especially after seeing Tylee’s remains or what was left. It’s just horrendous what these monsters did!!! Thank you, Nate, for all you do and your compassion and respect for the victims and their families! And to all the LE, FBI, First Responders, Expert Witnesses, Judges, Jury, Lawyers, and the witnesses for the prosecution, a big thank you because without them this wouldn’t have been possible.
