Empowering Career Growth: Kofo's Journey with the London School of Business and Research
Meet Kofo, a passionate access officer at Brighton and Hove City Council. Since arriving in the UK in August 2022, Kofo has dedicated herself to the field of adult social care, building a solid foundation over the past year as a support worker. Her journey has been anything but ordinary, and she’s eager to share how her experience with the London School of Business and Research (LSBR) has been a pivotal part of her professional development.
Kofo's role involves working closely with various teams, including the urgent community response team and hospital teams. She's been actively engaged in conducting assessments to determine eligibility criteria for clients, ensuring they receive the care they need. With a diverse background that includes training in mental capacity acts and safeguarding inquiries, Kofo has amassed a wealth of knowledge in social services. However, she felt that something was missing-an in-depth understanding of adult social care management.
That’s when she decided to enroll in the Level 5 Diploma in Health and Social Care at LSBR. “I believe taking this course is a push for me in this field,” she shares. Despite not having a degree in social care, Kofo holds a business management degree and a second degree in financial management. She recognized that the knowledge gained from LSBR would significantly enhance her understanding of the sector and its complexities.
In just ten months since starting the course, Kofo has seen remarkable growth. “I’ve learned more and been able to do much more,” she reflects. Her ambition doesn’t stop there; she has her sights set on managerial positions within a year. Thanks to the comprehensive curriculum at LSBR, she feels well-prepared to take that next step. “I am well-grounded in my role, and I am very certain that at the end of this course, I would be able to apply for managerial positions,” she confidently states.
Kofo’s aspirations extend even further. She dreams of pursuing a PhD in strategic management, inspired by her course's focus on strategic decision-making. “It all aligns for me, and it’s why I enrolled in this course,” she explains. The education and skills she's acquiring will not only bolster her current capabilities but also lay the groundwork for her future endeavours in leadership within health and social care management.
