Tunisia is a mega strong country when it comes to history.
Tunisia was the powerful Carthage empire long before Rome wasn't even a village.
Tunisia the home of Saint Augustin whom he spread Christianity to Europe.
Tunisia's Hannibal Barca one of the greatest general that invaded Europe and beseiged Rome for then years.
Tunisia is the first country in the world to establish a parliament, a house of Senate's and municipalities.
Tunisians where living in houses with baths and toilets long before Europe.
Tunisia is the first country to abolish slavery.
Tunisia has a small but very effective and strong special forces that defeated daesh in Ben Guerdane in a historic victory.
Tunisia has the largest olive farm in the World, with an olive oil renowned worldwide.
Tunisia invented pasta and not Italy.
Tunisia used to be the food basket of Rome.
And the list goes on and on.

I’ll admit, I know nothing about Tunisia. A forgotten and never discussed or filmed place, if you live in the USA. I was surprised to see the modernity in this video. Also the leniency of dress code for women, unlike some other Muslim countries. The streets looked to be very clean, and no scamming encountered by yourself. A big plus! Your hotel is not the Huawei Hotel, but considering what you paid for your room and the cleanliness, I’d call it a pretty good deal! During your interactions with people here, you spoke in Italian. What language is spoken here? Arabic? French? Can a tourist survive with just English? Excellent video! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. I look forward to future presentations from Tunisia!

Hi Randy, I started the video by showing Tunisia's location cause I figured lots of people never heard of this country.
Regarding the languages, the main ones are Arabic and French, but being so close to Italy made many Tunisians learn Italian. So lots of people understand me, and now and then I use a few words in Arabic and French 🙂

I assure it is top 5, at the same level as Algeria and Lybia. Development is not only infrastructure, but also literacy, life expectancy, income equality, and so on.
Tunisia ranks below Seychelles and Mauritius on the development index. However, since Seychelles and Mauritius are very small countries with a combined population of less than 2 million, their impact is statistically negligible.

    Hi Michele,
Sorry for the bad experiences you had with my countrymen, it's true that backstabbing is an old tradition in professional settings here in Tunis (yes the right pronunciation is Tunis with a ssss sound or Ifriqia if you insist on adding that Latin "ia" suffix). We are like that because until very recently the business was family (clan) owned and unlike you in Northern Italy (places like Milan) where Guilds and factories played a role in breaking clans/familias, we in Tunis didn't adopt that model until very recently and old habits die hard as you know.
If you look to the south of your own country, and something tells me you're from the south, you'll notice that things weren't so different until very recently as well. The inside vs outside group, where the insiders are blood related or brothers in law, or from the same region, betray the clueless foreigner and stab him in the back!
That's why your south is underdeveloped like us, we are honor based societies that forsake their honor long time ago and entered a moral decline (ours started in the 18th century). Trust based societies too are facing many challenges now, and that's ushering in the new age of cyber surveillance dystopia but I digress.
I also noticed you play chess, I play good Italian opening with white and solid Sicilian defense with black, tell me if you ever come to Tunis southern suburb (the other lines in that train station), I'll invite you and hopefully help change your mind about Tunis.
ps: we both belong to the same civilizational context but your country is the hostage of the west and mine is the hostage of the east (and west as well). Let's not pretend we're too different from each other, you're closer to us than you are to the Belgians yet many things are decided in Brussels!

we have many jews in Tunisia and Catholic, Atheists...
we are living in peace together
    also to make sure
Tunisia is the most modern and liberal islamic country
I advise u to visit Djerba,Bizerte, Punic Ports of Carthage.
and if u want European vibes just stick to the North

    buon soggiorno in Tunisia!

That gate is called Bab Bahr "sea". The old city, which is centered by the Zitouna Mosque, was surrounded by a large wall with many gates, and this gate is one of them because it overlooks the sea. This gate existed long before France. When France came and built the French Quarter opposite this gate, Tunisians began calling it Bab France, meaning the gate leading to the French Quarter. France has absolutely nothing to do with this gate.
