👍this incredible, thanks for sharing this video. Awesome looking Toyota!
Brings back memories! I still distinctly remember the smell of the interior of our new Cruiser when it came out of the dealer!
I have been following your stuff for a while now, and although your extensive range has some amazing builds, this is my favourite. Clean, practical and classic. These FJ's are legendary here in New Zealand, I just wish I had the money to bring one of yours over! Thanks for these vids mate!
Wow, what can anyone say other than "outstanding". What a gorgeous Stage 3 restoration. I can really appreciate all the work you do.
Beautiful build. I moved out of the country so gave away my loved 82 FJ-40 that was kept stock. I used to collect sports cars, and had a restoration shop for Maserati (50's-76 GTs). With all that highway hardware, the FJ-40 is the one vehicle I miss the most. I lived in the mountains and that one was purchased from the dealer and almost never returned to the paved road. When it was given away in 2001, it had 25,000 off the road miles, and never once failed me, most reliable functional vehicle I ever owned. I had an earlier one, a '76 that I sold when I got the new one. I got the newer one because I knew it was pretty much the end of them and wanted one to last 30 -40 years. I liked the high torque straight 6, which had good torque at low RPM which matched my needs as a full time off road utility vehicle. If it was to be a highway cruiser a V8 conversion would make sense but I could not have been happier with the dependable 6 that saw rough terrain and low speeds. I could not count the number of V8 4x4 balloon tired lifted jeeps and trucks I had to rescue in rough backcountry travels, particularly in deep snow. It would go, slowly where my horses wouldn't. Where I live now, it would be perfect as a town car and wish I could import one in stock restored condition as my last vehicle.
I fell nostalgia about it. My parents had one during the 90's. So good cars!
Beautiful! Just beautiful! I'm so envious of the owner! Wonderful work!
Refreshingly different Jonathan, thanks for sharing.
Always vicariously enjoy your building experience as much as the absolutely dime end result. Cheers!
That last drive shot made me giggle with glee. So cool. Thanks! Great camera work btw.
" REALLY " well done.. a nice alternative to a Full Blown Icon.. Great Truck...
I love this car, my dad sold one for about 2000 dollars in 2001.. till this day this has become one of my dream cars to own.
What a beautiful resto . Done right .
Beautiful job guys. I can see why people love these.
Another Great One!

Joshua Doss YEAH
What a beauty 😍
Wooooooow nice
Good 👍🏼
Halo from Russia. I adore your work
We have a ‘75 FJ-40 that has been graraged for more than 25 yrs. At that time it needed badly the steering knuckles replaced. It got to where it was too loose to drive safely. Too many trips in the RUBICON..😂 I’d love to drive it again, but not sure how affordable that would be??? We’ve owned nine L/C since 1976 when we bought the FJ-40. Currently own the ‘75, ‘96, 2010, 2018.
i love it
Love the 5 speed manual ! Not at all in love with the bowtie V8 in an Fj though.
Hi Jonathan; I know it's not my business (well, literally!) but I honestly would like to see the ICON touch on a Range Rover Classic!!
Love your works, the quality of the craftsmanship is astonishing; and honestly speaking, I'd prefer an old badass resto mod upon a "new" cheesy korean suv
Cheers for Pisa!!
This vehicle made the top 10 list of most valuable new Japanese classic cars last year. I suspect that between the time this video was made and now the price of this thing has skyrocketed.
I like this car
ايام جميله كانت مع سياره لاندكروز
The interior looks great with that hyde. That sucks about the E-Rod, is the 6.2 going to give you fitment issues? Is the 6.2 power output enough to be incompatible with your normal drivetrain choices?
good work and very informative. sir i want to use recliner sofa seat in my fj 40, will you guide me.
Me encanta este auto
I was told my 4 speed in my fj does not have sycro gear for first. So you have to be completely stopped the put in first.
Is that true? When i have clutch in and down shift to first it grinds....
Did you do anything to the interior of the frame?
Nice restoration!
BTW are your sunglasses satin mirrored? They also look pretty cool
Great work, classy project. oh by the way how long till the reveal of the Willys Wagon?
Great truck! What power steering system are you using?
What is the color code for this truck?
Sahara tan isn't on the original toyota color code charts that I could find and there are many variants of beige. Also is this a semigloss finish? Thanks for your time and brilliant restoration as always Jonathan.
5:20 The door handle is upside down
Absolutely stunning workmanship Jonathan, this particular model, what sort of money you are talking about here? Would love to own one of this. Cheers.
This is ONE classy ride. I am not an expert here but did not the original straight 6 cylinder engine have problems with the crankshaft breaking as it only had three main bearings. I would take the v-8 any day to a six. My opinion here.
Hey, those shades looks really really great, what is the brand and model of shades that you're wearing?
Beatiful! About how much money did you put in it?
It is a beautiful truck my dad has a truck like that but it's a soft top
Did not catch the price for the tlc package. I own a 1970 fj40 can this package be applied to it?
I like the idea of having nostalgic FJ with the drivability of the 21st century. I would put money on that. But spring leafs? Kinda go back to square one.
V8 for that short body....wowww

Great job, where can I buy spare parts for this car?
What size wheels are those? AR Mojave?
+Jonathan Ward Any clearance issues? Are you running spacers? Last question, were longer wheel studs necessary?
Beautiful work.
this car sound only be run with a straight inline 6
How much does it cost to get this done?
4Runner please, maybe with an original motor?
i like diesel engine
Beautiful made truck nice motor too.....would be better a Toyota motor thou Tacoma or Tundra engine since it's a Toyota truck or Fj
What about the Ford 3.5 ecoboost? Seams like it would be a killer engine for this sort of application. I know Ford Performance sells control packs for them too.
+Jonathan Ward I'm sure with your talent and ability to find the right people you could make it happen.
why ruin it with a Ford product?
Really? Couldn’t stuck a 1uz in there
that rattling noise
They all do that sir...
How much
when I was 18 my mother cosign for me for that very same color fj40 Land Cruiser 3rd year was rough. Vehicle was stiff it was meant for the dirt and then I met a girl pretty Italian girl next thing you know trade in time I'm driving a 71 T-bird Landau and going to the clubs dammit
I love the old FJ40 body designs but the vehicles are just too damn slow for the modern day era.
Does it still have the FJ40 interior wet dog smell.
or a newer tocoma engine

my GOD what have you done???
What's with the sunglasses. Wash'em.
Not putting a Toyota motor in this vehicle is criminal.
Sorry that GM engine was a boomer.... I will never change the 2F toyota engine
thank god they didn't do it to an old land rover...this is a sin. You can only lose money on it .
I doubt that this restore would be done for the client to "make a profit". Sometimes it's about what clients want, not what you want.
Toyota FJ Company is a much better deal... Putting a V8 american engine into this truck just ruins the whole concept...
