Forgotten Bloodlines is a perfect title, since Cenozoic fossil beds such as Agate Springs are massively under-represented in modern media. I remember being a kid back in the 80s, and my library had books with all these weird and wonderful animals that nobody ever talked about. Daeodon was always a particular favorite of mine. I hope this documentary sees the light of day, since it is much needed.
I gave $70 to this project. I am incredibly impressed at what they managed to create by a small group of people and no large funding. The animation looks like stuff that was reserved for $100 million dollar movies just a couple of decades ago. I hope this is finished and I look forward to seeing my name in the credits
I am from Nebraska, and have been to Agate Fossil Beds many times. It's an absolutely amazing place. I've also been to the bad land he mentioned. Much further east we have another fossil bed called the Ashfall Fossil Beds. It is a location where many animals were gathered around a water hole when a volcano far to the west blew it's top, entombing the animals in ash right where they stood. The interesting thing there is that all the animals preserved there were preserved in their entirety and fully articulated. It gives us the clearest look into that time in prehistory that we have, and has made us re-evaluate what we think the species which were found there looked. Nebraska is a great state to visit if you are interested in palaeontology. There are many places to go fossil hunting, and if you like canoeing, kayak touring or just plain floating down a river, the cut banks of the state's rivers and the sandbars there are loaded with fossils if you take the time to look for them. I personally have found several dozen mammoth teeth in rivers and along the banks. I ask all of you to support the Forgotten Bloodlines Agate project. It promises to be a truly wonderful look into that part of North America's past. Give a little or give a lot and they'll reach their goal.
Great it's now fully funded! I'll be getting my vid out on it out soon to help get as much out of this first campaign as possible to get closer to the stretch goals too. :)
With Nigel himself, my goodness what a brilliant project I remember the episode of walking with beasts which featured a similar ecosystem as being my favorite :)
This is great, but as someone who visited Agate Fossil Beds National Monument last year, I would also love to see money go towards updating the signage at the park - they still refer to Daedon as "Deinohyus," along with other out of date info. I love hearing more about the age of mammals though!
Back in the 1990s the first Walking With program kicked off a love affair for all things prehistoric for both me and my son. I have been following & subscribed for to your channel since I first discovered it. Thank you for bring this very important project that needs our help to my attention. Because of your video on 3/11, I made a pledge of $100 on 3/12. I hope that it will succeed and can be the start of a new series.
That looks awesome!! Don't know if I can find some extra funds to be able to help out, but I will share this around as much as possible! The animation team is extremely talented. I hope they get the remaining funding it deserves.
Thanks for reminding me about this gem of a project. The Miocene definitely deserves far more attention in paleomedia. I'll be contributing to their Kickstarter tomorrow 😊
This point in time in the Cenozoic Era is criminally underated. I'm curious of what North America was like thirty million years ago. Especially in Southern California where I live in.
ohhh yes. museums tours back. im from argentina and i love to know about other museums from all over the world. and your series on that topic is sublime
Backed the project earlier this month, happy to see others pushing for support of this promising project! I cannot stress enough for you to donate to this campaign, as I truly believe that if it sees the light of day we could be in for a new wave of exciting paleomedia in the public eye
I really hope this documentary succeeds, this truly is a very interesting time in prehistoric North America and is certainly not discussed or mentioned enough.
Totally went on kickstarter and donated $100 because I want to see this one through! This period of Earth's paleo history has always been my favorite. For me, it's because these animals look like present day mammals but are still so unique that they give us an idea of how we got to the animals we see today. Mammals took a really long time to become the dominant creatures on this planet, and their journey has always fascinated me. I would watch every single episode of this series!
Me before watching your video: I should focus on saving money. Me after watching your video: I think I got payed last Friday. Me after backing the Kickstarter: All well, easy come easy go.
in reality the only pleistocene mammals to get some love in documentaries are those from the mammoth's steppe. A documentary about humans arrival in south America or Australia would shake the conception a lot of people have of the late pleistocene (AKA prehistory).
I can not express how much I want a well done documentary focusing on trilobites, I feel like even with how famous they are there never was a good documentary about them. I think this amazing project could lead into that, and I’m supporting it all the way!
Awesome project! I'm of the opinion we know so much about cretaceous dinosaurs because interest was generated. With enough interest, people kept looking and eventually we allowed what we thought we knew to be wrong and further refined.
Pledged $30 towards the project, I definitely love paleo documentaries and I agree that mainstream attention focuses too much on the dinosaurs and the ice age when there are SO many other cool creatures out there in different eras that do not get enough love!
Engagement boost + ENTELODONTS! I love those things, absolutely crazy beasts of animals. Question, cause I can't seem to find an answer anywhere: why're we sure the cheeks protruded? Aren't they relatively closely-related to hippos, which also have protrusions on their skulls? But hippos' protrusions are for muscular reasons, and they don't have jutting out bits on their fleshy faces.
So cool. By the way, I have difficulty communicating because I had a stroke in Broca’s area, the part of the brain that controls speech. 2/8/2021 but I lived again. (My wife helped me compose this.)
A farming brother-in-law had a stroke; speech was little effected, though swallowing and walking were. ---- He heeded the therapists and put in a lot of hard work. He is now back on his tractor growing food, but still needs AFOs and a walker for going even modest distances. ---- It's not fair how much hard work recovery takes. I hope you have been able to see gains in your functioning. Time and persistence helps so much.
@@mikes5637 oh can you do a documentary Jurassic Antarctica and Cretaceous Antarctica oh when I watch the new calodiea episode I saw the crested gecko on it and I have a crested gecko
If everyone who watches this pledges just $10 or $20 dollars, I'm sure we can get this project funded. Wouldn't it be cool if our single UA-cam community was responsible for funding a full half of this project?
@@PaleoAnalysis Cheers for confirming that, PA. I know it seems obvious, but even though I watched E.D.G.E.'s video on this topic, I wasn't sure how much footage they had already produced. It is looking fantastic! And I think Nigel Marven is involved, which should bring in the crowds - he's a bit of a legend, and doesn't take himself too seriously, which is always a plus!
Leaving a comment in hopes of boosting recommendations. I just pledged a measely $10, but it's better than not at all. Thanks for the support, everyone who is able to give. I hope to see this project succeed!
I realize it's too late, but did they succeed? If so, where can I watch it, please? Also, if they succeeded, are they starting up any new projects at the moment?
Yes! The time period needs more representation, and it looks good for a video game. You can not compete with Prehistoric Planet though, so now I'm compelled to compare everything to it. Plus, to be a serious documentary, I can't listen to Nigel Marvin and take it as serious as it is intended. He makes "whoa, look at me, im interacting with dinosaurs 'cause I can time travel" bullshit.
I’m so happy that a documentary about the cenozoic era is being made that period is criminally underated

A Walking with Beasts-esque documentary with NIGEL HIMSELF?! I’m down!

Goal had been met and exceeded by 10k. Since the video posted 3 weeks ago... Thanks and we'll done every one who helped meet that goal

Yes! I like most started on dinosaurs and big mega fauna but those earlier mammals from the Miocene are super fascinating
And they are our closer relatives than chompy dinosaurs!
E.D.G.E also did a good job covering the crew members working this. So much talent NEEDS to be seen!
I just gave $30 to the project particularly because I am very interested in having an art book for this!
How did Florida Man evolve? What's the closest ancestor between Florida Man and the rest of humans?
What was the last time we saw Miocene in media? 2007-2009?
