TIL the Fender Player series is basically a modern day MIM version of my 2002 MIA Standard Strat. I'm good with that. My 02 Strat also cost about $850 new, but 20 yrs ago.
Love mine, I bought the one that looks like David Gilmour's black strat. I put locking tuners, graphtech saddles and a duncan sl-5 bridge pickup. Thing plays so nice. Great video
I bought the maple hss black strat I wanted the Clapton Blackie look, but went with the humbucker for the option of metal, but I mostly prefer blues & cleans
Is a Polyester finish new, lol. I sold my player Strat a while ago. I want check out the new Boss Katana Air EX. Stay dry, looks like a washout tomorrow.
I got a great deal on a frost white player, $400. Similar setup, maple neck (I really cannot stand the Pau Ferro boards). I do love the guitar. It's a Fender Strat, what's not to love? But I hate to say it, I also have a moon white SE Silver Sky, and even though I paid $650 for that, I think its a better guitar. Tone, quality, materials. I still love picking up the Fender, but think if it's going to retain its throne, they need to up some of the quality of materials to maintain its constantly growing price point.
I noticed the fingerboard is sprayed poly? Interesting. Makes me think there is a wood issue with maple. Wish I wasn't making 30 percent less than I was. Fantastic review. Your playing is coming along as well. Definately my favorite guitar channel.

Bought an Am Std Stratocaster in 1996 and a 2001 Am Telecaster. I prefer the Stratocaster to all other guitars I have owned. You can't beat the range of tones from true SSS pickups. I replaced the neck with a Warmoth a couple of years ago when the truss rod froze. Now it's customized for finger picking with a 1.75 width. Perfect guitar for me. Tried the noiseless pickups, but they sound kind of dead compared to true single coils. I guess I don't need a brand new Stratocaster, there really is nothing new under the sun, except marketing hype. BTW, new 1996 Am Std Stratocaster cost me $600. Buy a used one .
Your videos are always great! You know what, I could never really bond with a Strat. I do want one though, as I feel that the Stratocaster is the most versatile guitar. Mainly about 85% of the time I'm always on the Bridge Pickup. I've always felt it too thin sounding. If I do get a strat, I would get one with a humbucker in the Bridge Pickup. I like that extra power. Would you agree? But the humbucker on the bridge pickups sound different from that of a Les Paul. If you only had a strat and you play, classic rock, i.e., AC/DC, Bad Company, Beatles Green Day, I also play blues as well, Steve Ray, ZZ Top, Johnny Winter. Would you a Humbucker in the Bridge?
When you say the frets feel bigger, do you think they're like a Charvel DK24 bigger? The frets on that guitar feel much bigger to me than a typical Stratocaster.
I bought a new 1996 Am Std Stratocaster in '96. I've played the new models, I don't think I'm going to pay $2,000 for a new one. If I needed to get another Stratocaster, I would buy a used Am Std.

I have another question. Do you see/hear a difference between a Maple Neck and a Rosewood Neck? Does Maple have a brighter sound
I feel it more than here it but definitely on cleans with a certain style of playing there’s more snap on a maple board

Pick ups are an upgrade, plus it’s gotta 2 pt. Trem, which my Mexi-strat didn’t have, which is another plus.

Thank you! All the maple boards on the player series are sprayed as far as I know. The wood on this neck is gorgeous. I wanted to keep this one! 🤘🏻

Yeah I don’t gel with the bridge single coil on a Strat either. Definitely better with a humbucker there!
