I sold that beautiful treetop house a year ago to move to rural Australia. Not quite the "outback" but in that general direction.. I sure as hell miss those beautiful birds.
This is paradise to me. If I could wake up to those lorikeets in the wild each day, I'd be blissful. I attracted dozens of "average" birds (cardinals, sparrows, juncos, crows, Blue Jays, grackles) to my small backyard every day with food, water, and a bath. The poop was hosed off the deck daily. The pleasure the birds gave me far exceeded any effort I had to make. But when I moved house, my new neighbours would not tolerate the bird activity. I had to stop, and it's made me unhappy.
Oh my goodness, incredible numbers of Lorikeets and dancing too! Thank you for sharing your beautiful video of Lorikeets! They are so amazing and beautiful! 💕💕
this person has created a safe house for birds as a kookaburra was also visiting. lorikeets are entertaining as they clown around with each other. like humans they also have fights etc. I too love them.
Thanks for that, just fantastic. A have a rainbow lorikeet, just had it for a week and a bit. It just arrived, liked the look of me and stayed. It's exceptionally friendly and loving. It's hyper active so to avoid any stress I let it out it's cage every morning after it's breakfast. He, or indeed she takes off into the forest flying like a mad thing, frequently doing fly overs to check up on me. Then after a couple of hours it comes back. It comes back sooner if there is a crested eagle around of course, which has been the last three days. It's always delighted to see me snuggling under my chin. I barely know it which is so touching. Only thing is there are no other lorikeets here, no they dont exist, so it has befriended a love bird which also goes out everyday. Funny thing is the lorikeet now (just after a week) talks like a love bird, making the same sounds. It also came home sounding like a crow which made me laugh. Super intelligent birds, they warn each other if there is a predator, the lorikeet speaking agapornis. They also come when called, I use the lorikeet call. All a bit confusing. Long may they last anyway, just a bit worried about the raptor, it's super stealthy. Cruising low over the tree tops without a wing beat like a shark, black as black can be, nabbing anything that flushes upward. The rainbow is super fast so with a bit of luck the eagle will concentrate on easier prey. It keeps coming back though to try it's luck.......I can't not let it out, it gets mad, stomping its feet and holding it's neck with it's claws, making terrible sounds, I have to take it out and calm it, but that only last 5minutes. So free it must be.
Every day this is what my porch is like we have our regulars and new comers. Beautiful babies they all trust us and interact with us. Seen so many videos need to download one of my own. Love them respect them care for them still let them be free and natural.💓🐦🐦🐦🐦🐦🥰
Thanks for your comment! It's hard not to be happy watching those clowns, it's an old vid but I never tire of watching it myself. It may be 10 years ago but the birds come just the same every day!
I’m so jealous right nowww. My heart meats to the sight of lorikeets. I am currently looking for any rescue centres, birds stores, or breeders in Canada which sell lorikeets yet have not found one yet. While you’re over here with a whole flock just chilling at your porch. I swear I’ll move to Sydney one day for the sole reason of lorikeets. 💕😂
Don't be jealous, Blooming Rose. I live in Sydney too, and the last thing you need when you're trying to have a sleep-in is 50 squawking Rainbow Lorikeets that won't stop squawking til you feed them. It's torture, I tell ya... torture. lol
Hey Blooming Rose! Just read your comment, come visit one day. The loris still visit every day and unfailingly bring me joy always. Gorgeous creatures.
Fantastic video! This is exactly like our place in the afternoons, only we have lorikeets, butcherbirds and magpies Glad to see someone else looks after these wonderful birds!
I helped a little lorikeet who was injured when young. She is free to come and go as she pleases but pops in regularly and we enjoy your vid together. when she was little and lonely for her people it brought her great comfort. Thank you for sharing your piece of heaven for my poppet
I liked this video very much..! im the lover of Lorikeets, this video made me more impression. i didn't got any video of lorikeet as good as like this...!!!!! very very nice.. I LOVE YOU LORIKEETS
My one reason for wanting to live in Australia. I visited Melbourne in 2004 and loved it there. You could hear lorikeets flying by and see them at local parks. Beautiful country.
That's really a heaven. Cant believe that so many tame wild lorikeets flew to you for breakie. I am jealous too. From the plants i thought it was in queensland. There are some wild lorikeets around my area too, but they stay very high on eucalyptus..i guess my lost lorikeet joined them already...
On that occasion it was some unhulled sunflower seeds. But please note sunflower seeds are not suitable for captive birds which are unable to burn up the high energy content in free flight. OK in wild birds but only in very small quantities when plenty of alternate natural food sources are available.
I wonder what he is exactly? Maybe a Scaly Breasted Lorikeet? They also visit me, they're a little smaller than the Rainbow variety but often flock with them, also very cute. Anyway thanks for your comment and congrats on your addition to the household!
@PodeCoet really appreciate the comment from a fellow bird lover! Thanks so much and hope your feathered visitors bring you as much joy as they do for me.
Incredible ! Unbelievable. A grand display of nature's color - living rainbows. Where I live we just have sparrows, pigeons and Verona ravens. The Veronas like to come and nibble what they can after I feed my cats. They pull the small bowls more into the open where the flock can have easy access.
How blessed you are to have such beautiful wild birds to watch. We dont have wild parrots in the US. Well there is a breeding colony of parots in San Francisco.
I hope that a breading colony takes hold in California. It would be such a treat to hear and see such magnificent birds in our skies. Suggestion.... Add this to your list on you tube. DISCO the parakeet. You won't be disappointed.
Karen Shepherd it would be better than all the pigeons here for sure...i have seen them in other places besides ktown so theyre starting to branch out...ill look it up right now
I m bird 🐦 lover from childhood and from few years really wanted a way to be close with free wild birds with their freedom I checked so many videos how to be close with a free birds by respecting their freedom but only your video is first and best yet may god bless us 🙏 thanks
I've said this a couple of times already, "Australia would be heaven for me!" We have birds in Mississippi, but not parrots. Must be such a beautiful place to live. I do love my little backyard birds, doves, hummingbirds, and squirrels, but they would definitely not come close to me. Surrounded by all the beautiful parrots would be sheer heaven! Poop and all! I do have some poopie little barn swallows under the eaves of my house, though. Poop is such a small price to pay for being surrounded by the most beautiful, intelligent birds on this planet!
Kitty Vaughn..You are not going to like this but a lot of our native birds are considered a pest here and are killed in their '000's by farmers. We are in drought here in Australia and this is driving Parrots into the cities like Sydney and surrounding suburbs. In most cases they are not a problem, but try telling that to the poor old farmer. Ans as i have said before Australia will not permit export of any native birds or plant life. I ask you, would you like some of our snakes and spiders over there? I didn't think so.
I sold that beautiful treetop house a year ago to move to rural Australia. Not quite the "outback" but in that general direction.. I sure as hell miss those beautiful birds.
Oh no!
I would literally die if I woke up every morning with Lorikeet's in my backyard. I'm a Lory mom & they are the best birds ever.

Wow, those birds are colorful. I fell in love with a galah recently named Rosie, and I'm becoming more and more of a bird lover!
same
Targo, bird lovers do not 'keep' birds. Bird lovers respect birds right to freedom, and let them come and go as they please.
God I had to subscribe mate , geeeez you've done some great stuff here :) just brilliant !!!!
This is absolutely beautiful! Love , love, love 💕 Thank you 👌
Real heaven 😍

Super fun to watch 'your' bird invasion :))
I don't own any of them, I'm just very lucky to have these wonderful little creatures come to visit me each day...

Yes! But not too often thank goodness....
I would love to be in that heaven indeed. We bought a Green Lorikeet for $1000 in CA, USA. He's very expensive and very cute 4 months old baby bird.
I wonder what he is exactly? Maybe a Scaly Breasted Lorikeet? They also visit me, they're a little smaller than the Rainbow variety but often flock with them, also very cute. Anyway thanks for your comment and congrats on your addition to the household!

Yesterday I heard what I would swear was a parrot. I looked in the direction of the noise, but no luck. Where in LA are these parrots?
All around random places...im near koreatown and they sometime fly around
I hope that a breading colony takes hold in California. It would be such a treat to hear and see such magnificent birds in our skies.

you are at the gate, heaven is when a lori lets you tickle their belly.
vertical smurf
Is it normal that I feel the urge to adopt all of them OR to transfer in Australia and live with them?
Looks like the Newport yacht club in the background
This is kinda amazing lol
