  • Lead Roof Pipe Boots are a critical part of your roofing system and our opinion, far superior to Metal Roof Pipe Boots for many reasons, which we will discuss in this video. #plumbingboots is another name for these components that help watertight your roofing system. This type of #ventpipeflashing is very common in the roofing industry and provide a watertight seal around your plumbing vents.

Roofer just installed these and I was bothered by them as they looked beat up. Though it was more like the sheet metal one and solid metal pipe. Seeing how squishy it is makes sense as to why it looks the way it does.

My roofer put this on my roof today, but the pipe is slanted and almost looks like there are breaks in the pipe. Is this possible? Do they break and crack easily? Are the squirrels and rats going to eat it to get into the attic? The reason the roofer put this on is that there were rats in the attic because of the gooseneck vent.

It looks the boot is angled. Are they ‘boots” intended to be purchased based on the roof pitch? I have a 6:12. I’m curious, what is the difference between a roof vent and a roof boot?

My house has a 30 year old concrete villa style tile roof and I recently used a thin aluminum flashing/boot that sort of contours to the tile. Never again. I will pay the extra money for lead flashing that can be perfectly molded to the tile and does not need any caulk.

I have a 4" cast iron hub & spigot vent pipe, and a 6" hub is only a few inches above the roof. Underneath the hub, the pipe has copper flashing which is leaking. I have caulked it with roofing tar, but it still leaks. What sort of flashing would you recommend for this? Is there a lead boot made for something like this?

I live in the south and hate the rubber boots I have a metal roof and need to replace them about every 2-3 years. Can I put a lead boot on a metal roof?

Can we not use the lead ones. Damaging to the environment and others.

Lead boots are great but squirrels love to eat them causing water leaks. All jacks have pro's and con's.

Chris, we think those are awesome! We are going to do a separate review on those in the future. We just get a LOT of questions from people are this particular subject so we wanted to address it.
Is that what you guys typically install?
