Ach, I needed this. I did all of the F/A-18C tutorials and yet they were inadequate to properly teach me AIM-7. Been having a headache with the final campaign mission that comes with the Hornet because I couldn't figure out the range when to shoot the missiles.
Love me some Hornet love! Regarding Sparrows, I know they aren't "meta" like the SPAMRAAM-120C, but an interesting weapon still! I've been making a point to use them more in my flying. I wonder what sort of scenario would make the AIM-7MH a better choice than a AIM-120C. When in a furball with friendlies mixed about I'll use them for the simple reason I can "cancel" the shot if need be.
the aim-7MH is a better missile when you need to bounce bombers as compared to the AMRAAM it packs substantaly more boom, so it can be the differance of 2 120s to kill a bomber or a single aim-7
I think the radar basically illuminates a portion of the sky and the launched missile just guides itself to any reflection close by. Can be useful in dogfights.
the seeker in the sparrow sees the reflection of radar signals in its fov, and chases after the brightest thing. in stt you have a very narrow cone of radar, so it effectively always hits what you want. in flood mode though it still looks for the brightest thing, but now in a much wider area, which means if something else has a bigger radar cross section it will normally go for that. on that note i imagine the sparrow is probably more susceptible to chaff than an amraam, and even more susceptible in flood mode, though thats baseless conjecture on my part
Theres a "weapons qualification" mission that specifically mentions it for the F18, but I cant find where anyone has provided any guidance on how to do it
Historical scenarios, mission makers imposing supply/ammo restrictions, you like a challenge, or you want to get ready for the Phantom coming out in Two Weeks!
The Sparrow was a terrible missile. The ship launched version was officially named Sea Sparrow. We called it Sea Chicken. The Evolved Sea Sparrow Missile is actually quite good. How about a 4 on 4 using only the oldest version of the Sparrow. No guns and no Sidewinders. Sort of a Vietnam era fur ball.
You can change loft to norm using cage/uncage button!
thx
Thank you for these tutorials. Really apprecieate that, its exactly what i was looking for. No bullshit, just pure education, thanks again
Nice, I’ve just bought the harrier and your tutorials are helping a lot thx
I now know how to use this weapon, thank you. I can only hope that one day the weapon learns to hit a target once in a while!
I personally don’t have issues with accuracy
Good job, straight to the point.

Very useful indeed! Thanks.

Yes, maybe
I like how you cut off the "hope that was useful, see you lat...", Not a single second of video length wasted for ads.
Thanks
thanks! for all the videos thanks!
Thanks!
Your helpfull as always! :)
What’s up with all the revisions on the hornet cap? Did it get a major update or What?
Neg. The old vids were terrible, so replacing them all with decent ones.
Grim Reapers ahh ok
FLOOD mode flipped my understanding of how the sparrow works. So how does a sparrow find its target in flood mode anyway?

Is HoJ a thing yet?

What was that tool you used to modify your layout??
It’s not a tool but can be accessed via a hotkey. Check the controls I think it’s called rearming and refueling window

Why would I use aim 7 missiles when I could just use amraams?
Historical scenarios, mission makers imposing supply/ammo restrictions, you like a challenge, or you want to get ready for the Phantom coming out in Two Weeks!
why use this when u have aim 120?
You have these missions where the planes just fly by (don't shoot) and you can go through the steps.... Can we download such a mission anywhere?
this is super easy to recreate in the msn editor
This missile is an antique now
pontiacGXPfan yeah but it s still good to know them for servers without fox3
Important information for cold war era restriction.

The AIM-7M variant was a good missile, F15's and F16's scored a fairly high amount of kills with the AIM-7 during the first Gulf war
First!!!!
