It would take three hours to do CWF justice but this was good, better than expected. Never saw that photo of the FL Boys Ranch before, that must have been awesome as a kid
I grew up in the 60’s and 70’s near the Florida Sheriffs Boys Ranch and got to attend a couple of the benefit shows that they did in Live Oak Florida every year and was there for Mike Graham’s first match
I grew up on CWF, and being a wrestling historian fan it is still to this day some of my favorite wrestling to watch. It's a shame WWE has never added it to the library on the network to watch
Almost every Sunday at the Orlando Eddie Grahm Sports Stadium CWF wrestling i grew up going there and on into my adult life until it closed. Great Times.
I only saw champion wrestling from Florida from the Dusty Rhodes DVD look like a decent company for the time working with the NWA and the inner promotional with the World Wrestling Federation Superstar Bill Graham versus Dusty Rhodes is a great match bloody bull rope this is one of my favorites on the DVD
Florida is also known for Gators. Not the football team, but the big reptiles that would make you shit yourself if you seen them in your front yard. Lol. But I digress. Great video. Learned a lot about a promotion I knew nothing about prior
Wrestling was a HUGE part of my childhood, and I love hearing stories about the territories which existed back in the day. These videos are great, please keep it up!
I remember as young man I would drive an hour to Jacksonville on Friday nights to watch Florida CW. Awesome cards there. Oh the memories like the Sheik verses Jerry the King Lawler, Mike Graham verses Tully Blanchard. On and on I could go.
Thanks for re-uploading this episode. I was intrigued by the original upload when suddenly it cut off. Your uploads are always in-depth, brief & to the point.
Yup. He was a heel when I was a little kid. My family said I hated him but I was so young then I only remember him as a baby face. I saw him wrestle at the Tampa armory in '72.
"Dirty" Dusty and Dick Murdock were the top heel tag team in the AWA when they feuded with Crusher and Bruiser. I always said 1980s "country" Dusty was just a southern version of Crusher... a charismatic, ass kicking, blue collar everyman.
Having seen quite a bit of CWF stuff on here, I'd venture to guess that from 75-early 88 (Crockett close), CWF was the PERFECT territory-Vets could come and go as they wished, young kids could see if they had what it took to stick, and you had all the sun, beer, and babes you could handle...
As a kid around 1980 give or take a few years I used to watch championship wrestling from Florida on a UHF channel in the New York area either 41 or 47 It was a Spanish channel but it was back in the day when Kevin Sullivan was the big deal and he was into his satanic stuff with Mark lewin the purple Haze and I think Angela moska Jr but I used to love watching it besides watching WWF on my local channels. But it was a fun time back in the day
Hey Dave, I've been watching for a good long while and have gotten a lot out of what you do. But the other day I saw you on an indie show getting bullied by a tag team you were interviewing. It was on PlutoTV. Good stuff. There was another team that had a match on the episode. They had a wifi symbol on their gear and I got a kick out of them. Sadly I didn't get their names or the promotion name 🤦🏿 any Idea what I was watching? Can you help me out?
I never understood why Dusty Rhodes was a star, he was just a big fat lazy lump to me and I always found his talking like he wanted to be an extra in a blaxploitation movie as offensive and annoying.
I was there on May 14, 1974 when Dusty became the American Dream
Cool memory
I remember going as a kid here in tampa and watching dusty, ox baker, flair, Andrea Giant , Bugsy McGraw and many more. Great times

I stopped out in front of 106 N Albany when I was in Tampa a few years back. Couldnt believe how small it really was!

I lived in Orlando and I loved CWF, 86-89, Kendall Windham was my favorite
I remember Dusty starting Professional Wresling Federation in Florida back in 1989.

Got best stuff out there Dave🤙🏻
Ok, that blew me away knowing that Dusty started as a bad guy.
I went into it a bit more in the Rhodes Family video
Dusty was a better heel than face

Lol I always get this mixed up with WWE'S former developmental system (FCW)
I can't even imagine how confused Evad Sullivan used to get over it...
@@ArcherSuh4721 LMAO I Absolutely Agree

I really like your videos about the old wrestling territories. Great work!

Great video. I hope you do more video's on this on the histories of All Japan Pro Wrestling and New Japan Pro Wrestling in the future.
Japanese copyright law will make that not likely
@@DaveKnowsWrestling Odd, seen videos on UA-cam on other Japanese Wrestling Promotions like Pro Wrestling NOAH.

You were watching Catalyst Wrestling. And uh well I get bullied a lot so that doesn't really narrow it down
@@DaveKnowsWrestling Thanks for the quick reply, pal! Keep up the great work on your videos! I'll keep watching

Didn't David Von Erich have a heel run there? Or was it Georgia, I never saw it.
Yes it was for less than a year and he was managed by JJ Dillion
