A dog cannot be more loyal to his owner than Jack. I commend you for your love and treatment of Jack. Many thumbs up to you and keep these videos coming.
The grey in his muzzle and his slowing gait may give his age away, but the gleam in Jack's eyes and his huge doggie smile show us he still gets the same youthful joy from being out with you, in the hide, retrieving as he's done for you. Sad and heartwarming at the same time. Thank you for sharing this day with us and, more importantly, with Jack!
Awesome video Simon, and it was good to see the old lad still doing what he loves, even if a bit stiff and wobbly on those old legs he still wants to please his master and they do right to the very end. Well Jack old boy you’ve earned your stripes and more and it’s time to enjoy the comfort of your warm bed in retirement. He’s an absolute credit to you Simon keep us all updated on how the old lad is doing from time to time.
He's a good old boy, they truly are Mans best friend! And it's a good year for the berries, and they are early. That Holly bush was full of them 🏴👍
I wouldn't care a bit if he didn't retrieve a single bird. I'd give anything to have my lab back just to have him by my side. Been gone longer than I had him and I miss him every single day. So glad Jack is out there with you.Makes me smile just seeing him.
I feel for you my friend. I went through this with my best friend. I saved her from the pound, and she saved me from myself, amd I still remember our last walk. Gotta say, Jack looked a lot brighter and more alert in that hide than the least few times I saw him. He looked happy, even if his body wasn’t so able.
Simon, I’ve tears in my eyes and a big smile on my face remembering times out in the field shooting, beating or just walking round the farm with some of my labs now no longer about. The intro music isn’t helping keep a dry eye either. Special memories. Thank you to Jack and yourself. Pull myself together and go milk some cows. Best wishes Phil
All dogs go to Heaven. I made sure my old girl (also 14) got everything she wanted and needed. It's been a joy watching you and Jack do important work.
Good old Jack has brought a tear to my old eyes and a lump to my throat as well as a good few years of pure joy as the star of the show. Thanks for sharing him with us.
What a fantastic video mate, and such a real pleasure it was watching Jack, bless him, think hes well earned a good retirement, hes been a really loyal, friend and a top notch retriever for ya, he will be sadly missed by us all, Good on ya Jack, Thank you Simon for doing this and sharing it with mate, Cheers 👌👌👌👌👌👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Hi Simon, Great to see Jack back! He's getting 'on' but still going. Jack has the Spirit to go to the end! I know.... the pain you feel in slowly loosing your best Mate. Kind Regards, Dave in USA
Thank you for letting us into your world with jack loved it and your right he is the star of the show memories last a lifetime and that one will stay with you a lifetime take care both Viv
What can one say Simon...Jack's working day's come to an end 😢 He did his job well in his working life and now the time has come to retire him and let him rest while chewing a fat bone. You gave him all the opportunities and look back in your memories while hunting together, you all did well, cheers mate's. 🙏
Jack is looking rather fit for a 14 year old dog! Our last lab got to be 8,5 years old and the current one is about 4,5 now. As owners we just borrow them for a time. They give us all their lova and loyalty and the least we can do for them is to give them the opportunity to do what they like and love.
How can you not love Jack! Even tho his arthritis tries to stop him, he forces himself to do his job. There's nothing like the love of your old faithful dog. Sometimes we take this for granted and don't realise what we have and how lucky we are until they are gone. Good boy Jack, good boy!
OK my friend, it happens to all of us who have been lucky enough to have a spotter/retriever like jack. I put me final one down about 7 years ago. And that was it. No more, I'm too damn old (71) to be training a pup who will probably outlive me. Let jack live his retirement out in comfort. Good luck to both of you. T. T. Y. L.
The bond between the two of you is palpable. He's not just a dog. He's something much more . . . you two are soul mates in life's journey. I think everyone can see that clearly and we can feel the strength of your relationship. It's a reminder in a cynical age that there are still wonderful things to behold.
This takes me back. In 1976, I had my first shotgun (a "BSA" Italian single barrel folding gun) and my first dog, Benjie, was a beagle 10 years old at the time. There was a hedgerow on a hill in west Wales where a flight of pigeons would come over around 6pm. Flying as fast as they could, and about 45º to my left. For five wonderful days in a row I downed one of them, and after that they picked a new flight plan. Benjie? Total waste of space, unlike Jack, but just as loved.
Ayup Simon I enjoyed that thank you. I blubbed my heart out last week in a hide, lost my old bitch 7 week back and it was my first time out on stubble for eight year without her. I hope Jack goes on forever mate. That bond is something not many can understand. All the best.
Simon, this video with Jack is bittersweet. We all get to reminisce about the good times, yet know that Jack has likely spent his last time out hunting and retrieving pigeons for you. Thanks so much for taking us along via your channel. 👍🏼
It’s always a joy to watch dog owners who ❤️ their dogs and relate to them as family and not merely means to an end or as accessories which are part of their style. This guy is the kind of person all domesticated dogs deserves because they’re really born as four-legged wingless angels!
Brings a tear to the eye, it’s sad to see the body letting them down. They always have that smile on their face though when they do what they love. You’ve got a lovely bond with your mate.
Couldn't help myself with a few tears. It's been a blessing watching the two of you. I had a lab that I hunted pheasants with. Trained him myself. Got hit by a car too early in life!
Yes awesome Simon this video brought tears to my eyes, well done Simon you and Jack the Spotter have both bought us a lot of videos thank you and God Bless you both.
One day when you are stuck in a rocking chair, these memories with Jack will sustain you for the rest of your days. I know....I remember my hunts...and the loyalty of my dogs. Each one unique, and each with it's own special memories. Savor them...as I do. I think it is god's little joke that a dog's life is shorter than a turtle or a bird....but we don't get to make the rules.
Good video brings back good memories for when I had my spaniel never been the same without her, she’s in heaven now one day we will meet again. Thanks for sharing you have a good companion there.
Hey from the Catskills. Jack is like an old boxer that has one more fight till he doesn't . If those birds go in a tomato sauce I'm sure Jack will get a breast or two. Best to you all !!
Reminds me of my choc lab....always wanted to be with me no matter what. Broke my heart when his joints and back failed him.Still sharp but body weak we had to call the vet to visit us and i still talk to him every time i go outside.Bothhe and my terrier are at peace in my garden. Miss them both all the time. Keep enjoying jack Simon. Great videos as always.
Jack at his best as always Simon. Super dog. Problem is we all get old. More people will remember Jack and the dogs i had than me... Good luck Simon and God bless. R
I wish I had the honor of meeting Jack. I've been watching your videos for a while now, and it feels like I got to know him a bit. Love your content, and Jack. He will be missed. 😢 From the USA 🙏
It's blatantly obvious the love and respect that you have for Jack, and he you. As you keep saying, he's the star of the show. 🙂 I suppose he just lets you tag along ?. 😉 All the best to you both.
SIMON ..!!!! WHAT A AWESOME PUP..""JACK"" ...!!!! YOU KNOW I LOVE JACK ...!!!!!! SURE GREAT TO SEE YOU MATE....!!!!!!!! DOUBLE G...!!!! "" GARY "" ..!!!!
Can honestly say I never thought I would be near to tears watching a shooting video. I have a Pointer/Lab cross that comes pigeon shooting with me every time, she has bone degeneration due to severe abuse as a pub, she loves life and has great fun with me even though she is often in pain, she probably won't be able to come with me as she gets older, but what amazing companions they are. All the very best to you and Old Jack
Will keep it simple, but what a cracking up load. The old boy has, despite his age, a twinkle in his eyes for his love in life. That's being your wingman for so many years in the field. Will be hard to replace, but he's deserves a well earnt retirement. Keep the videos coming, by the way, good shooting 😂
Good to see you out and about again Simon... and Jack too! Sure can see his arthritis in his hips giving him trouble... sad. But for being 80+ in dog years I hope I move along as well as him. He sure was happy with a mouth full of feathers! Take care Simon and take care Jack.
Thanks so much for sharing this video with us ,great to see Jack in action again . The body slowly gives up but the desire to hunt and retrieve never stops ! I had to stop taking my German Shorthair at about 14 also . She lived two more years and it was heartbreaking to go hunting and not take her . Stay well and strong my friend ! Please give Jack my best !………
It's always hard and sad when you near the end of your best friends time, but it just seems that little bit worse when its also your hunting buddy. You set a great example of hunting etiquette! As a fellow hunter I do the same, and also raised my kids to never take the privilege for granted.
I’ve watched you over the last couple of years the relationship you have with Jack is fantastic he loves being out with you he’s a great dog long may it last
An absolute star and a credit to you Simon, Thanks Jack for all your smiles & memories you have given me enjoy your retirement boy you have well earned it. ❤
A very nice video Simon, it's great to see Jack still picking a few up bless him. I am sure that you have been as good to him the last 14 years as he has to you. Enjoy retirement Jack!
You brought tears to my eyes with this. It is so hard to let go . My Jack has been gone 30 years and I have had other Labs but not my Jack as a hunting companion. Thank you for reviving great memories and give the beautiful Jack a great hug. By the way great shooting.
It's great to see Jack there with a smile on his face (dogs do smile) doing what he loves with his best friend. Please give him a pat for me. 👍 🇨🇦 Keith in Canada.
I’ve retired a few great gun dogs that I was very attached to. He was happy to be out and doing his thing. Here’s to you and Jack, may the memories last forever 🍻
Thanks Simon for sharing a great video what a wonderful dog Jack has been very touching watching him retrieve those birds for you , we are all going to miss him you had 14 lovely years with him ❤
Jack did really well for a 14 year old dog ! Lost my best dog 2 years ago now at 9 and it still hurts. Lovely to see you enjoying these last years with your buddy.
A dog cannot be more loyal to his owner than Jack. I commend you for your love and treatment of Jack. Many thumbs up to you and keep these videos coming.
To those who understand, nothing more beautiful than the opening scene with those feathers in Jacks mouth. I'll remember that forever. Thanks Simon.
Jack is a faithful old soldier who will be missed❤👍
The grey in his muzzle and his slowing gait may give his age away, but the gleam in Jack's eyes and his huge doggie smile show us he still gets the same youthful joy from being out with you, in the hide, retrieving as he's done for you. best gift you can do is to bring jack out to do what he loves, you can see he is so happy, tks for sharing, rgs from italy
He's a good old boy, they truly are Mans best friend! And it's a good year for the berries, and they are early. That Holly bush was full of them 🏴👍
Great video, fair play to jack, comes to us all the minds sharp but body lets us down. Bless you both

my heart is heavy. Jack is 'The good boy'. Pat on the head from a big fan in Maryland USA.

Slow and steady! Unconditional loyalty, service and love. Well done, Jack. Enjoyed that, thanks Simon.

Jack may be slower but his eyes are still quick Nice to see him out there. Keep Smilin.
Brings a tear to the eye, it’s sad to see the body letting them down. They always have that smile on their face though when they do what they love.
You’ve got a lovely bond with your mate.
Thank you Mike.
The look in that dog’s eyes was priceless! You could tell, he lives for those hunts. Well done, sir! Well done Jack! You both have made my morning.
Great one again Simon all the best to you and the star of the show JACK ❤👏👏
What a good old pup you had the pleasure of helping you for 14 yrs 🤙
What a great pic. Jack with feathers all around his mouth. Looks bit knackered but so loyal and proud. Great video bro.
Jacks a good doggie and a better friend. 14 years is a bonus.
Jack had still got it for an "old timer". OBTW - your shots were spot on.👍
Couldn't help myself with a few tears. It's been a blessing watching the two of you. I had a lab that I hunted pheasants with. Trained him myself. Got hit by a car too early in life!
😞. 💔
People who have never had a dog pal for a long time - they don't know!!!!
A real star he is. Love dogs and Jack obviously loves you too.
Mans best friend is an understatement !! Life is so much better with dogs.Happy days Jack.
Ah Jack...such faithfulness warms the heart...and your toes on a cold night...💖

Got some dust in my eye at 9 minutes… great to see jack still loving life.
Brought a tear to my eye, what a lovely relationship you have with Jack.
I wish a pup could spend some time with Jack!
It may even take his mind off of things for a while!
The old lad enjoyed that done way better than I would at 98 👏🏻
Hey from the Catskills. Jack is like an old boxer that has one more fight till he doesn't . If those birds go in a tomato sauce I'm sure Jack will get a breast or two. Best to you all !!

What a lovely way to retire.Enjoy it Jack .You'll be missed on screen but not forgotten.
Hi Simon,
Nice to see Jack busy doing what he knows best, bless him. He may be slower now, but he's still enjoying himself. Great video...🙂👍🏻👍🏻
Very sad that he won’t be going out with you again. He has had a wonderful outdoor life with you and you have been blessed for so many years.
Jack reminds me of my 13 year old Chocolate Lab. They still enjoy the hunt and live to please their masters. It just takes them longer to get around.
Nice to see Jack out fair play Simon the way you look after him cheers mate
