    The biggest challenge for me is finding somewhere smooth and flat to go. Do you rent this place out to skate?

    hi katie!! I've asked u for help in your comments before, (changed my pfp lol) and I just wanted to tell you that I learned how to backwards skate, I haven't mastered it yet but I'm pretty good. I'm getting good at heel manuals (with both feet!!) I can do transitions from backwards to forwards and I'm working on forwards to backwards. So I wrote this all to say, thank you Katie! :)

    The only skaters I see doing that deliberate free leg thing are the dance/figure skaters. Not the derby or speed people. We tend to keep our feet closer together (kind of)

    • @Skatie
      @Skatie  2 роки тому +5

      The elegance of the free leg is definitely more dance but a good strong free leg can help any skater get good balance and loads of push. 💕⭐️⭐️

    Hi Katie,
    I like the tires on your skates and the "chirp" they make. What kind are they, including the hardness and where can I buy them?
    Also, I am looking to do a little jam skating this summer, outdoors, on like a basketball court, to music. What kind of tires should I use for that, or moreover, what would be perfect for that type of skating?

    • @Skatie
      @Skatie  7 місяців тому

      These are my bones wheels. They are known for that chirp sound . The Exaxt wheels aren’t available anymore but the rollerbones elite are very similar, I haven’t tried them personally so I can’t comment if they still sing! 🎶 For outside I love the roll-line heliums. Sometimes you have to be careful with basketball courts the surface can be spongy so you’d need something harder to get any roll.

    • @dave_dave
      @dave_dave 7 місяців тому

      @@Skatie Alright, what type of hardness are we talking? And what other surface would be good to jam skate on, besides a basketball court? I'm looking to be outside with the music pumping and an area where maybe a couple people will stop and watch me. 😁

    I need to work on this and that is why I always record myself skating to see what I'm doing right and wrong. I tend to not pick up my right foot. I just sort of sway it. Now I'm having falling arch issues with that foot as well. I need to work on this and your video is definitely going to help.

    I am correcting (still) an erroneous taught way of that free leg by holding it straight back and not turning it out and point. What a relief to learn to do it correctly. This is doable. The other was impossible and frustrating. I think what throws me off is when I'm reminded to keep my hips square...well that makes it kinda hard to open my hip for the free leg; am I missing something? Also never really considered about the focus on the free leg during crossover or crosspull. Makes sense. Good video. Love those details in skating

    • @Skatie
      @Skatie  2 роки тому +1

      I totally understand the square hips feels like don’t open the hip. When you open your hip. Make sure not to lift it. Think of square hips as “level hips “. Even if it’s open keep it level. (It gets so complicated!) 😂
