Oh my gosh I relate to this topic so much even though my collection is not as big... I usually comfort myself by thinking that appreciating what I have matters most and I don't buy mine as an investment or anything
This video really made me feel better :") I do toy photography with my Nendoroid collection, so there are so many broken parts because of course they fall during photoshoot 😅 I think what breaks my heart the most is Chiaki Minami's backpack.. one strap is broken and lost 🥲 I was able to make something from a carton(?) and glued it as the 2nd strap lol I just can't display her with the backpack because it will break again, but it works on photos.
Oh I have so much respect for people who do photography for their figures because of the risks lol. And I feel you--having a piece of your figure break off is one thing. But losing that piece is a whole other kind of disappointment because now you can't even glue that piece back on!!! I've seen people sell individual nendoroid parts online before. I'm not too familiar with Minami's character or how rare her nendo is, but maybe you can find her backpack and just replace that?
I love honest videos like these! Sadly quite a bit of mine are broken as well. Mainly because of my pets (one of my pets loved to chew on some figures which I couldn't place in the display cases :') ) and because of my own clumsiness during cleaning. The one I was the most upset about was actually the prime 1 studio figure of Joker from Persona 5. I took one of his head sculpts out of the box and a strand of black hair fell off and dropped on my black carpet. No matter how hard I looked I have never found this piece. It really annoys me because of how expensive he was :'''')
I really wish they made more bookshelves that come with doors and aren't so expensive for those reasons! It's the expensive figures that hurt the most 🥲. I just looked up the Joker figure you were talking about and he's stunning I'm so sorry😭. Hopefully it's not too noticeable or maybe you can sand down the broken strand to make it look like there wasn't one there in the first place and just paint it black?
9:22 I used to own that Cowboy Bebop figure and yeah, I can confirm it is fragile... because I broke it. LMAO. I, in my infinite wisdom, tried to remove a glass shard that was not, in fact, removable. And Spike's cigarette was just gone one day. No idea when it broke off or how. Also 10:29 I've gotten scuffs like that on many of my Nendos (I am clumsy ok). Sometimes I'm able to remove it with just water on a microfiber cloth, but if that doesn't work, then a wet magic eraser always does the trick for me. I usually cut off a small piece so it's easier to work with.
I'm guilty of doing the same with the cowboy bebop figure omg. I don't know why they wouldn't just make all the pieces that stick out removable. It just confuses everyone 😭. And thank you so much about the advice on the nendo! I've only tried using a wet Q-tip because I was scared to use anything but that and water. I'll definitely try the magic eraser out--don't know how I didn't even think of that! Thank you!!!!
I have 3 broken figures in my collection, two of them with damage caused by me. My Miku Nakano figure fell off the table she's sitting on once, and since I display her in the front row of the shelf she fell on the floor... a tiny layer of one of her toes chipped off. Funny enough, I had an acrylic paint at home that fit the colour of her stockings exactly so I just painted over the small chipped off part and now it's not visible at all 🤣 Then on my Xie Lian figure... when he arrived, I was trying to be really careful putting him together because the translucent scarf looked so fragile. Well... yep, it is. He slipped a TINY little bit on my lap and the thing just SNAPPED in half 😭 but it was a clean break so glueing it back together was no problem. Aaaaaand for my Wei Wuxian & Lan Wangji scale, the little tassel on Wei Wuxians flute wasn't attached when the figure arrived. Clean break, too, so again no problem glueing it back on. I also have a Nendoroid thats missing a piece... thanks to my cats 🥲 My Bocchi and Kage (Ranking of Kings) Nendoroid is missing one of Kage's arms... It should be somewhere around my apartment but I just can't seem to find it. It's just gone. Lost in the abyss or something. Thats it, though... considering how big my collection is, I consider myself lucky to not have more broken figures. 😂
Yeah I have one that's broken. It's my Tamashii Nations Eternal Sailor Moon figure. Her arm broke off because she fell off of my desk but I super glued it back on and it looks like she was never broken to begin with. So, I don't know if that counts?
This is why I can't put figures on my desk or anywhere near my workspace. I'd knock them over INSTANTLY. 🤣 So happy it's not noticeable--it's a stunning figure!
maybe cardcaptor sakuras are a little cursed hgnfhfn I got the bigg pinky promise scale at retail price and broke the very delicate gold clock/frame piece when putting it together :"D a shoddy super glue and bad paint job later it looks worse and I was so sad for months HAHA it was so miserable to put together honestly.. there was some paint transfer, a smell that lingers (10 months later??! its out in open air too..) she's beautiful, and I guess she'll have to be mine forever because she has like no resale value now LOLL oh the life of a collector :")
I’m glad you left this comment cuz I was eyeing that figure for a while 🥲. Getting super detailed figures like those are such a double edged sword. I wish there was a better way for them to make or package these types of figures
@@PeachnCheeks seriously, sometimes even as well as they do pack them some things can slip through the cracks or the figure itself being prone to breakage T_T I will say despite it all I still don't regret the figure, she's stunning! But if you're able to pick her up 2nd hand/at a reduced price if something were to go wrong.. at least it would hurt a little less :"DD

I love this and definitely agree. Remembering to be grateful for owning them in the first place helps a ton and is really healthy.

@@PeachnCheeks Ugh, same! And yeah it's not noticable but it's like you said, we know it's broken which makes it worse haha XD

6:18 oh how I hate those supports they look great but if they snap they are useless and no glue can hold them together
