You're so close! Can't wait until she flies. I still question the bearing choices (#6 and #23 at 19:07). The two bevel gears in the gearbox can generate a lot of axial thrust. This helicopter is on UA-cam and putting all the parts together and has been here for more then 10. years and has never toke off the ground to the air and since then this helicopter has never been flown to the air

I can feel the love in this build...i dare say perfection, this ultralight with it's proper construction will be enjoyed for many years to come. Well done Sir!
Only have two questions: 1, Did you do a weight and balance for either main or tail rotor. 2, ARE you aware of the potential erosion on tail rotor forward edges? 3M makes a tape sacrificial tape the Army used on the Th55 training copters. Could save you some agitation and expense. Just a thought. Nice job though. I also noticed the lack of safety wire on most bolts, do you think they won't be needed?.
Hy. Thanks for your suggestion. After trail and error from the first spin up test (video coming up) i did the weight and balance of the main rotor blades again. Now both blades weigh exactly 11.329Kg and have the CG on the same location. Need to reinforce the center plates of the main rotor head (replacing aluminum with stainless steel plates). Then will do the static balance and the tracking of the blades. I am considering the use of 3M sacrificial tape to use when the blades seem sufficient after further tests. Did some safety wire on the main rotor head, on the tail rotor assembly and on the main rotor mast connections to the frame structure. I try to find a balance between sufficient testing, building and safety of course. But i have to make some compromise in the safety wire on for example the pilot flight control system because the exact adjustments are subject to change when flight tests progress and to safety wire every needed connection before the final adjustments are reached would not be sufficient in my humble opinion. For the moment to hover just a few seconds over the ground would be a great achievement and i go from there and considering more safety improvement. Greetings
Gidday Great video, thank you. Tail rotor direction of rotation appears to be going with the main rotor airflow rather than against it, so loss of tail rotor effectivness may happen earlier. Bell also discovered this. Main blades appear unable to lead lag easily. Unless you intend them to rotate around main blade bolts. This may contribute to huge stress on blade roots.
That's sum build. Now I understand why helis have such short service intervals. Locktight and nylocks say it all. I am surprised not to see a torque wrench lol

Awesome machine work! Just a few question though? Won't the gears that were made need to be heat treated and the gear boxes that were made filled with lubrication instead of just wiping some grease on them? One last thing, please don't use the push in clevis pins where they were installed. Awesome work though!
