    When you wonder if this thing fly`s, the first flight tests are in progress and will be orderly published on my channel. ua-cam.com/video/60XpMUDX5_s/v-deo.html
    And remember: Start to work on your dream today, because you are one day earlier finished than when starting tomorrow...

    You're so close! Can't wait until she flies. I still question the bearing choices (#6 and #23 at 19:07). The two bevel gears in the gearbox can generate a lot of axial thrust. Admittedly, I can't see the image without being there but I would think they should be tapered roller bearings. Regardless, best of luck. I'm looking forward to your first flights. Kind regards and stay safe!

    linking a drive train with bolts is not a good way to transfer torque, the smallest difference between the bolt and the hole will cause it the shear eventualy, a locked taper pin would be better, a splinded link or an approuved love joy for this application, just saying to help you out. 17:39

    So faszinierend das Video und die Bauweise und alles ist - und obwohl ich kein ängstlicher Mensch bin, aber ENTWEDER habe ich keine Ahnung von den Belastungen eines Hubschraubers, oder mir sind dazu viel "Sollbruchstellen" verbaut, die zu einem Absturz führen würden. Also ich glaub ich würde mit dem Ding nicht fliegen wollen, oder mal nicht so hoch, wie man glaub fliegen sollte oder müsste.
    Kann man echt so "einfach" einen Hubschrauber bauen? Ich dachte da wäre mehr Sicherheit verbaut, ganz ehrlich.

    • @ultralighthelicopter
      @ultralighthelicopter  8 місяців тому +1

      Hallo. Der Helikopter ist Experimentell und in stetigem prozess zur Verbesserung. Ich Versuche einen kompromiss zwischen effizientem Bauen, Testen und Sicherheit zu finden. In der ersten Testphase, wie der Helikopter zur Zeit ist, wäre ein kurzer Schwebeflug über Grund schon ein grosser Schritt. Weitere Massnahmen wie zum Beispiel Sicherungsdraht zum Sichern der Schrauben werden hinzugefügt wenn die finalen Einstellungen der Kontrollen sich in weiteren Tests bewähren.

    Only have two questions: 1, Did you do a weight and balance for either main or tail rotor. 2, ARE you aware of the potential erosion on tail rotor forward edges? 3M makes a tape sacrificial tape the Army used on the Th55 training copters. Could save you some agitation and expense. Just a thought. Nice job though. I also noticed the lack of safety wire on most bolts, do you think they won't be needed?.

    • @ultralighthelicopter
      @ultralighthelicopter  8 місяців тому +1

      Hy. Thanks for your suggestion. After trail and error from the first spin up test (video coming up) i did the weight and balance of the main rotor blades again. Now both blades weigh exactly 11.329Kg and have the CG on the same location. Need to reinforce the center plates of the main rotor head (replacing aluminum with stainless steel plates). Then will do the static balance and the tracking of the blades.
      I am considering the use of 3M sacrificial tape to use when the blades seem sufficient after further tests. Did some safety wire on the main rotor head, on the tail rotor assembly and on the main rotor mast connections to the frame structure. I try to find a balance between sufficient testing, building and safety of course. But i have to make some compromise in the safety wire on for example the pilot flight control system because the exact adjustments are subject to change when flight tests progress and to safety wire every needed connection before the final adjustments are reached would not be sufficient in my humble opinion. For the moment to hover just a few seconds over the ground would be a great achievement and i go from there and considering more safety improvement. Greetings

  • @donaldpayne1376
    @donaldpayne1376 4 місяці тому

    Gidday
    Great video, thank you.
    Tail rotor direction of rotation appears to be going with the main rotor airflow rather than against it,
    so loss of tail rotor effectivness may happen earlier.
    Bell also discovered this.
    Main blades appear unable to lead lag easily. Unless you intend them to rotate around main blade bolts.
    This may contribute to huge stress on blade roots.

    Awesome machine work! Just a few question though? Won't the gears that were made need to be heat treated and the gear boxes that were made filled with lubrication instead of just wiping some grease on them? Also have you been using Aviation bolts during your assembly and are you going to use lock wire on all your fasteners? One last thing, please don't use the push in clevis pins where they were installed. Awesome work though!

    You need to put castellated or castle lock nuts on critical parts such as the connection of the propellers to the main rotor.

    I've been dying to get a single seat helicopter for a long time I have the experience of a mashed potato I couldn't build one, but I could fly one, you're doing I would have to order one from down south to mosquito what makes me nervous seeing this build is a keyway in the big main gear in the top, wow that never lets go

    Fine workmanship. Too bad Rotax no longer makes that engine anymore. It was the most popular engine in it's class. Hirth is a possible alternative. RIP the 582.

      Thanks. Yes it seems the rotax 582 is getting outdated unfortunatly. Greetings

    I want to know approximately how much the helicopter would weigh if you made it out of iron

    • @ultralighthelicopter
      @ultralighthelicopter  3 місяці тому

      Hy. In general, Iron is around 3 times heavier than aluminum. I tried to find a compromise between a reasonable balance between safety and lightweight.

    1. It's so confusing things, parts and the way they've all putted together.
    2. Is the engine made specially for this type of things or it's just an engine?

    After watching you build your copter, I relised I don’t have 1/10th the talent nor the tools. I told you once I have the plans saved in my computer somewhere. I’ll have to look and see if still have
