after the Thailand videos are published each Friday. Sri Lanka is next and the negotiations are much more intense and it gets physical. All videos already scheduled in cue. Subscribe to see it all.
The USA has zero tax on rough gems. This is the only country I know without tax on rough gems. Countries that actually facet the gems make more on gemstones than those that only mine them. As faceting can X 10 the price like printing money. FYI Most US Citizens use Fed Ex or just fill up their suitcase. You then declare them in US customs in airport and they say "Have a nice day, you must be a Jeweler". Other countries have complicated import processes, limiting their citizens ways to make money.
Love the content. Been going through all your videos. What advice would you have for a youngish 26 year guy from Australia wanting to get into the industry. I was thinking about studying at AIGS in thailand next year as I thought that might give me a good foundation. Any advice is grealty appreciated. Cheers, Finn
Learn to facet gems, go to a school. Then start buying rough at gem shows, then sell online once cut and the sky is the limit. Much more potential than gold mining. Your close to Thailand and sri lanka, a big plus. Ask any questions you want. Montana Mike
@MinesAndMountains thanks for the advice! Sounds like studying gemology in thailand could be a good start and then off to cutting school. Is there any good books out there you recomend someone to read. Also I am curious. I noticed on one of your videos you say you did not like the way they cut in thailand from my limited understanding I thought they were some of the best cutters in the world? Appreciate you getting back to me. 6 more months of saving then I will be off pursuing my dream. Currently located in a large gold mining town in Australia called Kalgoorlie I should probably be out prospecting to be fair ahaha
@@finnhammond6177 Buying a digital Ultra Tec will give you the best results. I wouldn't cut on anything else. Then start turning rough stones into real money X10. My next UA-cam channel is www.youtube.com/@GemstoneFaceting . Thailand are just the fastest cutters(3 stones per day) working on low quality machines. Don't look at the meet points on the facets or look at the gems with x2 magnification and it may seem ok. I also plan on living in Thailand or Sri Lanka or Madagascar in the future. Cutting a stone every day.
@@MinesAndMountains appreciate the information and I am looking forward to following your new channel! Hopefully I can catch up with you over there in the near future!
So buy here at Chanthaburi and trade at JTC tower for cut stones... Do you know of a gem cutter in Thailand that is very reliable? maybe pink shirt guy knows as well.
The guy in Pink Shirt is there every weekend. He is all knowing. The Enlighted One. He will negotiate for you for a small fee. Everyone from JTC goes to Chanthaburi every weekend. You will find contacts there.
After Thailand, I went to Sri Lanka where I found Spinel. I was able to find Spinel at night with blacklight as well, it glows. New videos publish every Friday.
I love seeing stuff like this.

How do you ship your goods to your homeland? How does the taxation work like import and export duty?
