It's those drawers you hate! But I use my dresser for literally anything not clothes so it can be my taller night stand :) Seeing my stuff drove me crazy till I did this the other day, then yesterday I micro organized the CRAP out of them! IT FEELS SO GOOD! I'm still in retail hell and want a clean, minimal looking space lately. No decor out yet, either. Still deciding on it. I'll come home with glitter on me lol.
I love cube shelving. Wish I’d had it for my 3 kids when they were young. It’s my basic storage system for my toys ie fabric, stationery, products for cleaning , etc.
I also love the cube shelves nur I have to say when kids really set up some great little "world" I let them have it out for a week or two as long as they actually play with it. Also lego tables are great - not on tje floor where you can walk into it
I'm on Dawn's bandwagon with being a minimalist, but I may try just using cubes instead of dressers, especially since I have two boys (age 12 &4) whom share a bedroom and it's just too much with 2 dressers!
Cas, You and Dawn are both incredible! You two are my all time favorites..... Inspiring me to start my own UA-cam Channel!!! Between the two of you, I believe I can clear clutter, and get organized! Thank you so much!!! “Jennifer At Home.”
Hey, I just love that you mention people like the Minimal Mim who do things different than you. I love watching you and her and in that hopefully find what works best for me! Thank you for all of your videos. You're always a breath of fresh air!
the minimal mom helped me clear out all the excess stuff and you helped me figure out the right organization system for our family! My house stays clean!! Between the two of you you have made the last two years awesome journey!❤️💚
I LOVE the Minimal Mom. I've been following her for about two years now. I definitely lean towards minimalism, BUT I have to agree with you on the cube shelves. When it comes to kids, that is definitely the way to go versus dressers. My kids are in their late teens, but I wish I had these ideas you shared years ago. I would have stored everything differently!
Thank you for putting yourself out here. I love your energy, enthusiasm, and the way you allow us into your world. I love the under the bed drawer idea, it's perfectly wonderful. Your Wonderful way of seeing Dawn got me to give her channel a second glance. Thank you. 🌎🧭🎠🌠☃️
You and Dawn are my home guru's! Like you, I don't want to be a minimalist, but I have way more than I want. Dawn gives me downsizing ideas and you give me ideas for organizing the stuff that makes the cut! Do you have any videos about dealing with sentimental things?
You always have such great ideas for storage. I love Dawn, & because of her, I found you. You are both amazing people, & we are all blessed that you share your lives, & ideas with us. Thanks Cas!
That’s (Minimal Mom) how I found your channel, she recommended you! I am not a minimalist either I do like things organized and I lean toward having minimized amount of stuff (just not minimalist).
Thank you for being such an inspiration and the bonus of giving Dawn from The Minimal Mom a shoutout.....you both are incredible motivators and much appreciated!
I love you and Dawn! Dawn inspires to live with things intentionally and then you show me creative ways to store and organize that makes sense to all the "bugs" accessing the items. I'm so grateful for you both!
Yes cube storage is the way to go! Been doing it for 3 years now and I love it! My daughters are 7 and 4 and are really good on knowing what goes back in what bin without the labels, probably because we've been doing it for awhile now.
I love the change over to cube shelves it's made this moms life so much easier. ❤ I need to heal from surgery so I can get this house back in order. I wish I could be a minimalist cause it would make my life so much easier and I know I'd love it it's just starting the journey that's the hard part.
The cube shelf is THE best thing I have ever done! I use it as dresser. My kids (4 and 2) are allowed to pick out by themselfes, I dont fold clothes anymore and if the bin is full its time to declutter clothes!! Best investment I made so far!
Totally agree that cube storage is the way to go. But no more than two rows high for under 5's because its harder for them to take out and put back any higher than that. I've also found that clear bins really help kids find what they're looking for (in addition to the picture sticker on the front).
Both you and Dawn from The Minimal Mom are two of my favourite youtubers. I am not sure if it means I am all over the place but more likely you both give great advice! Definitely the latter !
For my 15 year old who has lots of games, I purchased sturdy 4-tier stainless steel shelves and stacked them nearly all out in the open. Usually, I like everything hidden, but with his games, it's been out-of-sight-out-of-mind in his bedroom. But no more. :) And it's neat and orderly.
I just want to say thank you. Thank you for being a real mom with practical ideas. You make me feel better by seeing the same struggles. Your approach of clutter and organization has become my go to. Keep up the great work. Can't wait to see what you come up with next.
Love cube units 💗 they are so easy for my kiddos to use. I popped over and checked out Dawn's channel after you mentioned her last time. She has some great content. She uploaded a video earlier today and I watched it just before yours 😂😂 I've also been back and watched a few of her older ones where she is sharing tips on decluttering and how to become a minimalist, like you I don't think I will ever be a minimalist I'm a clutterbug through and through but it was motivating 😊
I was just looking into a cube shelf! The look on my husbands face told me i may need to wait until next year. haha. I might have spent a lot on my 4 year old for xmas. I am down to becoming a minimalist once my daughter is a little older but i love having tons of toys for her. She's an only and toys are her friends and what keeps her busy and learning. "Someday" i will miss all the clutter, today won't be that day. ;)
Between the hotwheel tracks, cars, and billions of legos.. I fell like im going to lose my mind 😜 im going to buy a cube shelf and I really like that pegboard idea.. and omg the lego bag....... my son has a lego table but they never get back into the table and he doesn't build on top of it... but that bag is kind-of genius!!
While watching your video, I was going to ask if there is a minimalist you recommend checking out, then you did😊 I will for sure see what works for us from Dawn too. Thank you!
I’m not a minimalist, but Dawn makes so much sense in how she explains things. She’s become my fave minimalist on utube! She makes me want to get rid of my stuff! Lol
I started following Dawn a few months ago. I think one of her videos popped up in my suggested list. She is great! I love your idea for storing lego creations under the bed. My son actually has a trundle bed, so they will fit perfectly in there. He has sooo many and he insists on keeping them intact, so now I can free up some shelf space, thanks!!!
I replaced my dresser with a cube organizer in my closet. As an ADD person I needed to see my folded clothes better to see what I had and to easily put away. Works for me! I have ikea stacking rolling see thru bins to store most of my kids toys but cube bins are probably safer and easier...
I use the cubes for everything and got rid of my son's dresser to use an Ikea bin system. We have the lego bag and more it is great. I have added some micro organization like separating out the lego people.
I found your channel through the minimal mom! I love both your channels, I’m more minimalist but my husband is not. I’ve been watching all your butterfly videos to find organizing solutions that will work for him.
Our daughter isn't autistic, we have friends that have littles that are. They liked having stuff lined up and it would be by colors. Our daughter loved organizing the Lego in a clear over the door shoe holder. She had only one color in each pocket. She liked this because she loved making stuff with one color some times.
I'm watching this for myself, I've gone through and cleaned my room properly for the first time with help from my parents, I'm 23 and it feels amazing. Ive one issue though, I have a lot of stuffies/teddies from the past couple years that i want to display somewhere, I still cuddle some and when my sisters kids come over they play with them. So what can i do with them? Any and all advice is appreciated. Thank you.
Actually when me and my sister were little we sorted all of our legos by color in ziplock bags! Extra parts like minifigs, accessories, ect ect went in this small pink lego brick shaped box that I still have and repurpose for my craft supplies now.
Great ideas, I love your lego drawer under the bed, thank you! Edit: I also love that you're not a minimalist and can still be organized and clutter free.
Cas, how do you recommend storing dollhouses and bigger toys? 🥴 My daughter has so many Little People things like a house, barn, camper etc. I don’t know what to do with all that.
I started following you but because of a previous (UA-cam) collaboration that you did. I am a Minimalist, but also a ladybug. Both of you have given me the best solutions. The Minimal Mon for more tips to minimize, but something was missing and it was really an aha moment when I started following you. Thank you ❤
we already have the exact same cube system.. does not work for us at all, they pull them down, if something they want is in the bottom, the box gets emptied, mess everywhere. also have the same lgo system haha, that doesnt work for us either, we have a lot of lego, it spills out of the sides, plastic sealed tubs work for us.. almost. i think the lego boards within the big drawer / box is a really great idea, you could actually divide it and have the lego in one quarter of the box, keeping it all there so that bag doesnt get dragged around the house!
Totally love the 16 cube from ikea as it holds my favourite books art supplies etc. Had little kids stuff in it but my child is no longer little. So all the many barbies etc are gone
I love your practical LEGO storage ideas. I have tried to get my kids to put theirs in plastic tubs to no avail, instead their LEGOs live on a train table all of the time. It’s time for us to try out the storage bag!
Hey Cas! What about many Lego, like a Zillion blocks. They won‘t fit in a Lego bag. My kids and my hubby love Legos (me too but I am not a maniac 😬). We moved them in a seperate room and store them in the Ikea Trofast shelves, sorted by colour ☺️🙈 but also by theme (lego city, older lego pirates from hubby, lego friends...). Love, love, love the minimal Mom, so many great ideas. Wanna get there too!
I went through the toys last night. I have 3 kids ages 5 and under so I don't include them yet. Threw away a bunch that were broken or missing essential pieces, decluttered a bunch they've outgrown. Feels so good, need to reduce them a little more... Christmas is coming
Some very nice ideas but the only issue I have with bins/boxes is that while they are tidy on the outside they are a graveyard for toys on the inside. Things go in, are forgotten about and never come out. Some of this is a bit age dependent to be sure. Will work for older kids but if you have smaller kids it will be a Struggle. 100% on having to have some system. The cubes are great especially for reclaiming height, same for wall hangs. Love the slide out drawer for storing finished lego and the lego bag. My pet peeve is the closed containers. Even with images on the front and even with transparent containers they end up being trash cans for toys. Maybe with older kids it’s better. Little tip of my own. The plastic containers they use in hardware stores for containing bolts and nails are superb for storing different art materials, pens, crayons, markers. They are stackable, come in a variety of sizes and work very well if you have built in book shelves.
I love all of these tips.love the lights in the curtains. Were did you buy please.? Also love your kids rooms. Love the idea of the light in the ceiling edge. Please when you come back fro. New York show us how you did it.pkease
I am looking into these video now as i need to organize my kids toys badly. Thank you for sharing this ideas but my question here is can you share few ideas to store board games too. Thank you
This ishow i have my kids toys. But my daughter still just dumps all in the same bin. Its so easy and its labled but still a struggle but its the best i have tried x i have the same for our clothes. Dawn is awesome ive been following her for a while and i have decluttered so mu h in my flat
Sooo my husband and I are micro organizers. He’s a cricket and I’m a bee. Our littles are under 5 so we have lego duplos and I have them organized in clear bins with each “set” so they only play with one set at a time. But I can see with the regular legos how one bin would work better. I’ll have to wrap my head around it lol
LEGO! Ok. I just organized my kid's legos and it is working. So I organized them according to type instead of color. Getting my kids involved helped. But if they are organized in a way that helps when they build. So I did flat pieces, thicker pieces, windows and wheels (vehicles) Misc. Or Specialty, people and characters and animals, and novelty.
Great tips! I am IN LOVE with your daughters room!! Omg, it is how I aspire to decorate my daughters lol I would love a room tour. I know you have a solution for the ever growing stash of hair bows 😩
What's your favorite toy storage solution?
Still trying to figure it out 😏 However, I still LOVE purging and decluttering!
It's those drawers you hate! Alright...I’ll give you the cube shelf for toys! 😉👍 great ideas!!!
I laughed because in your recent video you just bought TWO of them. 😂
@@aprilknutson2809 Right!?? I thought that too.
Dawn...Dawn...Dawn, ok im goons need you to post a video on how you Christmas shop for $20 per kid .
Show me your ways!
Wait, cubes for the boys room? 😂
I'm on Dawn's bandwagon with being a minimalist, but I may try just using cubes instead of dressers, especially since I have two boys (age 12 &4) whom share a bedroom and it's just too much with 2 dressers!
Dawn's video on paper clutter helped me get rid of piles of paper. She's amazing! You're amazing too, and I love that lego bag.
Kids love visual systems - the cubes, the labels, clear containers.
You and Dawn are my favourite youtubers!
They both are my favs as well!!
Mine too! They are both so down to earth and relatable. Awesome content!
my favs as well!!
Ditto! I love the variety of content on both channels

I love the cubes AND Dawn just bought 2 cube units for her boy's room!
I just saw that as well! And that was my thought Cass influenced her!

She did!! 🤔🤣
Lol yes. I couldn't believe that when I saw her video today.

Thank you! I'm glad you liked the tips!
Yes cube storage is the way to go! Been doing it for 3 years now and I love it! My daughters are 7 and 4 and are really good on knowing what goes back in what bin without the labels, probably because we've been doing it for awhile now.
Do you know which cubes these are? I'm going to Ikea tomorrow but I ended up with analysis paralysis last time I went and I just left 😪
@@FurTheCasa aww lol. I'm pretty sure these are the ones she has in the video! www.ikea.com/us/en/p/droena-box-white-00306270/

I'm 65 and the daycare I went to as a three year old, used the sorted storage bin/drawer system

I hear you. I struggled for years with toy storage... What worked was this style of system + minimizing their toy inventory ☺️
I just donated a bunch of my daughter’s toys to get ready for Christmas and her birthday. Feels great to declutter.

Oh man. Why didn’t I know about this lego bag years ago! That bag looks life changing. 😃

I love what you said about not having to be a minimalist but you can have less 🙌
Thanks for sharing. I’ve always wanted to use cubes for my daughter’s room and now I’ve made up my mind. Love how your kids’ rooms are. So beautiful 🤩

LEGO!
I love Dawn, but also love the cubes 🤔😬🤷🏻♀️😆
Just stumbled upon your channel and loved it! New subscriber 🥰 thanks for the tips! Especially the Lego ones!
OMG 😮 The Nerf storage wall! Yes 👍🏼🙌🏼🙏🏻
I loved the talk you and dawn did.
We used the underbed rolling storage for our 3 boys never ending lego collection! We'll never drop another dish stepping on legos again! 😄
Great tips! I am IN LOVE with your daughters room!! Omg, it is how I aspire to decorate my daughters lol I would love a room tour. I know you have a solution for the ever growing stash of hair bows 😩
