Thank you so much for this video.
I simply love your videos going over the mountainpasses.
    Great views!
Greets from the (flat) Netherlands. No mountainpasses here!

Great vid. Ty! I’ve been up there many times on the Moto, and once in the car. Markleeville is one of my fave stays. Great food and beverage.

Thank you for this. I never miss an opportunity for a trip over Monitor Pass. You caught it at the best time---right after opening in the Spring. If you get a chance though, you should get a video going the other direction. The descent down the eastern slope is really spectacular! (and a bit white-knuckle, for those not prepared)

Maybe I can do that sometime in the Fall to get some fall colors near the summit, and I agree, the eastern descent toward US-395 is very scenic as well.

I was so lucky to be on a project in Colevlle where whenever I had to drive to South Lake Tahoe for FedEx supplies, I was lucky enough to be able to drive (and bill time) over the pass and always stop for lunch in Markleeville. Amazing drive in the spring.

That sounds like an awesome time to be able to drive this scenic beauty so often, I'm a little jealous!

I really love your original video of CA 89 over Monitor Pass from years back- I actually went back to find it- given your plans to redo some older road videos with copyright free music & removing the original from your channel.
If your plan is to drive every mountain pass in the Sierra Nevada, you still have a couple you hasn't done road videos on like Fredonyer Pass which separates the Sierra Nevada from the Cascade Range- along with Minaret Summit, & Walker Pass to name a few. But that would be a great idea- to clinch every mountain pass in the Sierra Nevada- including the ones located in the Carson Range. Just don't try it right now as the mountain range is about to get hit by a major snowstorm!

Doing as many as I could is definitely still a goal of mine here in 2024 once the summer season gets going that's for sure. Minaret Summit near Mammoth Lakes is such a challenge to do because after Memorial Day, you get a shuttle service to get into Devils Postpile, then after Labor Day it is shuttle free but then it's only open on weekends. So annoying!

Go over Monitor Pass in the fall when the Aspens are in their glory. Then keep going after Markleyville (sp?). You'll come to another pass that goes west and thereis more fall color for you. This isa great video by the way.

Hey, if you're ever near Placer County, then you should drive on California State Route 20 from Nevada City to Marysville.

Highway 20 is a very underrated route for scenery in California, that''s for sure. I actually have some videos coming from the Clearlake area here in a few months.

Just subbed and a HUGE fan. Have you considered as background music the compositions of Steve Roach, the Father of Ambient Music??

2 hairpin turns on the east side of the pass, not too bad. Markleeville is one of those "blink and you'll miss it" towns, and thankfully it's still with us after that devastating fire a few years ago that very nearly took it. I would put Monitor Pass as the 3rd easiest to drive, behind Tioga and Carson Passes, respectively.
