Took a cross country trip from Michigan to Sierra Madre last November. Seen all the sights and loved the drive up into the mountain trail shown here. Parked the car the side area seen at 1:16 and took in the view. Moving there in a little over a month. Cannot wait!

Hi arkiat. I lived in Sierra Madre also but long before you did. We lived way up Auburn Ave almost to Carter. My father and his father grew up in Sierra Madre also. We moved to Huntington Beach in 1953 and I graduated from HB High School in '56. We drove up to Chantry Flats in our old car but I never did ride a bike down the hill. Amazing how fast Peter was going....Doug...=)

Wow Peter, you were really moving down toward the end. Back in the time when I lived in Sierra Madre we called that road at the bottom "Double Drive"......Doug...=)

Way back in the 70's, my friends and I lived in the little town of Sierra Madre, near the start of this road. We liked riding bikes, and would ride this road often, We would time ourselves from the gate which is seen @ 7:22, to the top, where the first parking lot begins. We would usually ride in between 17 to 18 minutes, depending on how we felt that day. The best time I ever did on my own was 16:12. But that was on old heavy steel bikes. That's all we had. I bet modern riders are much faster!

Looks like a nice ride down! How fast did you hit the descent? Strava slip?
