Oh My Goodness! Now I really want one of these! Back of now I watched a demo of a different laser machine and you had to have specially tagged wood. The machine would read the material tags. Is that the case with this one? I know I explained badly so sorry for that! This looks like SO much fun!
It doesn't read tags on materials. You select the material in the software

My daughter is an Engineer and has toys like this. At Christmas she brought me a Daily Calendar Puzzle that she cut out of wood, same as what you used for your project. It comes with a base that shows the 12 months and 31 days. It comes with 8 shaped pieces with which you cover up everything except today’s date. I discovered there’s another puzzle that also has the 7 days of the week. I commissioned her to make me a bunch of these puzzles and I handed them out to friends and coworkers. I have both puzzles and I have been successfully solving them everyday since Boxing Day. 😘

What kind of material does it cut? I would like it but to cut acrylic all colors because I got the Glowforge Aura and it was limited to what material to cut so I returned it

Is it hot and do you have to wait for it to cool down to take your pieces out and doesn’t cut paper? And lastly, can you make your own designs?
When the design is done, the laser head moves to the back left of the machine (resting position), and then about 3-5 seconds later, the software shows the design is complete. You can remove the project at that time, so it's very soon that you can remove the project. It's not even warm when you remove it. You *can* design your own images right in their software, but it doesn't have all the "bells and whistles" I am used to . I design in Silhouette Studio and then save my project as an SVG to bring over to the MakeIt software.

I did see one YT video where the guy did all his leather cutting and etching on the WeCreat Vision, but if he had faux leather, he did it on the Cricut.
