I'm a chef with dermatitis, I work with other chefs with dermatitis. It's normal. To dumb it down it's from hand washing striping your skins natural oils etc. If anything it's a sign of a clean chef (or in this case baker), not a dirty one 🤦♀️
If your hands are in moisture all the time.
I'm a customer and as long you make delicious food and I don't get sick from it, I could not care less of how your hands look like. I would enter your restaurant believing you would not risk your business, working with a contagious disease. I don't understand people who don't trust anyone but still eat out. 😂
I went from working in kitchens to working home care with individual clients. I only wash my hands even more now. Lotion, so much lotion. Lotion all day every day!
The health inspector should just rent the office upstairs at this point

@@Nancy-bm5bfcan't do that, otherwise actual issues could be ignored because you didn't believe someone who calls often. Also they don't need to be a medical expert, they might just see a rash and the call is perfectly valid. It's obvious that it's an annoyance, but it is a necessary evil, even if some people are abusing the system

Had that happened in the U.S. Carol not only would have been legally ban forever, but she would have also been sued. The courts would have decided exactly how much damage she caused and loss of revenue for the bakery and made her to pay the bakery back for those losses.

I'm a painter and I frequently use those two to compliment each other. People seem to like it so, I would say that they definitely "go" together. LoL :)

My father has psoriasis. He never worked in a bakery, because psoriasis is different and flakes, but he never went swimming around anyone (public or private) because everyone looked at his skin like he was infectious to be in the water with. He’s also a small business owner, a carpenter. He finally made enough from the farm and the carpentry business that he was able to not only get on a good med to help clear his psoriasis, but also build a beautiful pool and hot tub. I swam with my dad for the first time when I went down to visit last year, despite spending so many hours fishing and on the water with him as I was growing up.
most people don't realize just how often you should wash your hands when working with food. if you are doing it right, you will get dermatitis

1. Some people will do whatever it takes to get something for nothing.
2. Never underestimate the stupidity of people (esp. incompetent criminals)!!

When you have a large crowd, you can serve elephant stew. You should also have a few rabbits ready, in case there are any extra mouths to feed, but be careful because many people don't like to find a hare in their soup.

I would advise though to have tweezers or one use gloves around to use for picky customers, it helps to eliminate the concerns of the "washed or not washed hands" question in the heads of people.

I know it’s not the point of the video, but in America Victoria would not be allowed to discuss Alice’s dermatitis with Carol because of HIPPA. I don’t think that even Victoria would be allowed to know about it, as long as it’s not contagious. Carol just needs to keep her mouth shut and opinions to herself! edit: I also wouldn’t sell her anything when she came back.
HIPPA is an American regulation so it might not apply. I was doing a similar thing while watching this going "isnt carol defaming the business? Outright lying about a business is slander esp after the hygiene inspector approved their practices" but things like privacy and business rights are location and time specific. Carol may be fully within her rights to do what she did in the Republic of Ireland
All Carol would have to do is be subtle. "I don't want to alarm anyone, and I'm sure it's harmless, but I couldn't help noticing the girl at the bakery has some sort of skin condition. Let's keep her in our prayers."
Try legislating or litigating against something like that. And no, I am most definitely not endorsing such behaviour.

In America we eat our baguette plain or take it home to make garlic bread out of it. Here baguette is a very long, thin loaf of bread. Is it something else in Ireland?

One time I found multiple long straight black hairs in my sandwitch. I nicely talked to the guy who made the sandwitch, and he told me that the hairs were definitely mine. I have curly light blonde hair. This guy had long straight black hair like fabio and wore no hair net. I told him it couldn't be mine because the hair was black and I'm blonde. He said "that's not my problem." He didn't remake my $15 sandwitch that I had only taken two bites of, and I threw it away. Honestly, after talking to him, I didn't even want him to remake the sandwitch because he seemed a little unhinged and I was certain he would spit in my remade sandwitch or FAR worse. Needless to say, I never went back to that deli.

When I worked in a restaurant, I was prohibited from wearing nailpolish. I am curious - do you utilize preventative measures for its chipping into your baked goods?

I worked at an industrial bakery in the mixing department, and my dermatitis was so bad I lost some of my grip because of the skin peeling.

I remember about fifteen years ago, when I worked at Wally World. He'd always complain about the level of knowledge the Staff would have about the products. He'd want Expert Level knowledge from Teenagers who make Minimum Wage. I finally asked Him once, Dude, if We suck so much, WHY do You keep coming back?

She doesn't wear gloves when she makes the food so does she not worry about piece of the chipped nail polish falling off into the food? I know when I worked with food we wore gloves and we still weren't allowed to wear fake nails or nail polish for that reason.
