I went to the gym with a friend whom I didn't talk much with at the time, and he brought along his friend, a girl. As I was lifting weights, she suddenly accused me of looking at her ass in the mirror. I was confused and thought she was joking, but she continued to call me a creep in the middle of the gym, making me feel uncomfortable. I didn't find her attractive and didn't look at her body. I was just focusing on myself, but I was wrongly accused. I'm disappointed that my friend didn't stand up for me and instead believed her. I never went to the gym with them again, not even alone with the "friend".

Anyone who has been to the gym seriously/regularly knows people stare at each other, most of the time not even meaning to. I've literally caught myself after a bigboi set staring at someone for like 10 seconds and realised it would probs be seen as creepy so instantly awkwardly looked away lol, and countless times i've had ppl stare at me and I know they probs arent even thinking anything. Its that daydream effect you get where you have just lifted something pretty heavy for you, and your brain needs a few seconds of just disconnection to relax i feel like.

Most gyms, if there's someone disturbing other users by filming, will make that user stop filming but most people just don't want to deal with all that process so they just ignore the phones. That's why I prefer local gyms, because the owner is usually there and even working out sometimes so if you have any problems like these the owners themselves will deal with it pretty quick.

Also overall I feel like a guy approaching you and asking you something at the gym even if he is making a move shouldn't be shamed. There aren't a lot of girls who go to the gym and people tend to get very into working out. Finding someone you think is attractive who shares a common interest or lifestyle with you is a very good reason to want to get to know someone. Gyms are a public place if the timing is appropriate (not in the middle of reps or nothing) why can't you make conversation?
