remarkable tone! in those picture of yours. As user z6ii too, u did good on file raw z6ii in post. i will follow ur upcoming video portraits.. cheers mate
Earned a sub from me! Just picked up my very own z6 ii and it’s a much needed upgrade from my D750 for videos but I also am loving (and learning) their new Eye AF, Face detection, and learning to work with / work around the new tech. Also thought the BTS of you shooting the model is such a cool way to get BTS I’m definitely picking up my own within no time! 🙏🙌
Thanks Ty, I really appreciate it! When I do one on one shoots, I usually don't have someone around with another camera to get good BTS for me. At least not the entire shoot. Getting footage from a GoPro or a camera on a tripod works too, but I feel that this first person view for these kinds of videos in a small space is very beneficial for the viewer. It definitely is a transition from DSLR and rethinking how you get focus. Enjoy your new camera! I'm currently working on a new video now, I hope to have it done soon.
Thank you! I just used one layer of diffusion for a small beauty dish. It was a small coffee shop, so I didn't want to be obnoxious with a 40-60 inch softbox.
Thank you Eric! Joey wasn't sharp all the way through in all of the pictures because of how close I was to her in the coffee shop. In the photos where she was mostly all on the same plane (upper and lower body), focus and sharpness levels were similar. If I wanted it razor sharp at that distance from where I was sitting, I would have had to adjust my aperture to around f/4. I could have gotten a similar sharp look at 1.8 if I had room to back up more, but of course, I would have had more of the environment in my scene. If you are referring to the level of focus in the background elements, it is because they are not too far away. In general, the closer you get to your subject relative to the distance of the background, the more narrow field of focus you have. To get more depth for your subject, move back. The 50mm is nice and doesn't compress the background as much as my 85 and 105. I hope that makes sense, maybe I can do a video this summer to show you some specific examples. Thanks for watching!
Hi Alex, thank you for the feedback! I have done both before. In this case, I had a flat profile for the pictures, but I shot the intro and outro scenes when Joey was talking with the Ninja V instead of internal recording. I'm trying to be more consistent with it since the Z6II doesn't capture 10bit internally, and I like the depth of colors that you gain. You can still do a lot with internal and a flat profile though.
I trust it to capture the iris sharply when shooting wide open with my 50mm 95 percent of the time and almost hundred percent at f4. I have occasionally seen it capture the eyelashes a little sharper, but it is so infrequent, it's a non issue. While I love the look of the 85 1.8S wide open, in my experience it has been a little less dependable in getting the iris razor in challenging lighting situations (natural light) when wide open.
The Nikon skin tones are unmatched.
I love those Nikon colors too, straight out of the camera!
Nikon and Fujifilm rule the color science department imo.
Olympus has quite good outdoor skin tones on sunny days. But Nikon absolutely rules with indoor skintones or when shooting on cloudy days.

Lovely shots. She's gorgeous. What modifier did you use on the flash, if any?

Awesome shots man! How did you get such wide focus at 1.8 aperature?

do you use a ninjaV for video or just go with the flat profile? Awesome footage and shots here!!

Do you change or alter your picture control or do you use standard?
I've tested out Vivid and Portrait, but I normally keep the Picture Control on Standard just like in this shoot.
It's nice
Thank you!
so do you trust the z6ii to get focus sharp on the iris?

@@photosbysteven thank you cuz i have the Z7ii and havent really used the eye af yet. all im hearing is that it focuses on eyelashes and not eyes
Hi what z lens did you use for this shoot?
Hi Daniel, I used the 50mm 1.8S.
@@photosbysteven thank you for your reply amazing work by the way like your style 👌

Unfortunately I don't have any specific presets to share because I don't currently use any while processing my photos.
