Hello Phantazzztics! 😁. Please check out our new website. tazzznphilly.com Your support in keeping us thriving and surviving is appreciated. ~ Tazzz N Philly ~
J.None (the rapper) used to be a member of VP, but is currently serving in the Navy. VoicePlay is a class of its own, very creative and versatile. Another deep rabbithole for you, for sure. Enjoy the ride.
Hi Normora! Nice to see u again. 😁 Ohhhhh wow, ok. Thats pretty interestingly cool. Former VP member, that left, and came back as featured person. Thats cool. ...and in the Navy. Wow, admirable. Thanks for the intel. ~ Tazzz ~
Voiceplay is the theater kids of acapella. They go all in on characters and vocals. Cool to see you guys checking them out. Geoff the bass has his own channel so I hope you get a chance to react to his solo stuff as well.
Well aren't you lucky! This is a two-for-one rabbithole you've just found! Because if you've discovered VoicePlay, you've also discovered their bass vocalist, Geoff Castellucci, who is his own rabbithole. First off, a few things to know about these guys. They are entirely independent and unsigned, unlike the other two big a cappella groups. Geoff and Layne Stein (baritone and vocal percussion) take turns creating the vocal arrangements that the group use, and whoever creates the arrangement is also responsible for the video concept, site sourcing, costuming and props, direction and video editing. They do their own still camerawork, and recently Layne has begun doing more steadicam work as well. Eli (rhymes with 'jelly'; short for Eliezer) Jacobson is the bald rock tenor, and he does their lighting work, as well as CGI- a lot of the background visuals you saw in this video were scenes Eli created in Unreal Engine. Initial sound mix is done by the arranger before sending the track to Ed Boyer for the final mix (Ed Boyer is a genius in his own right, and is responsible mixing all of the big a cappella groups' music). All that stuff above, Geoff also does on his solo channel. Don't be fooled by his vocals in this video- he lived in the basement on this track, but Geoff has a 5 octave vocal range. On his solo channel he multitracks his voice singing all the vocal lines, and then generally clones himself in video as well. He does this so masterfully you can almost forget that it's all one person, as the 'clones' interact with one another and make eye contact etc. Sometimes he brings in makeup artist RIck Underwood (who often works with VoicePlay, and is the one responsible for the Viking tattoos in this video) to give his clones various appearances (Far Over the Misty Mountains Cold, Ghost Riders In the Sky). Sometimes Geoff films at Pattycake Productions, a video production studio which Layne co-owns with former VoicePlay baritone, Tony Wakim. There's a lot more to say about all of these guys, as well as other former members you're likely to meet on your way down the rabbithole, but I won't bore you further. Plenty of other comments out there, and hopefully many other videos for your questions to be answered. You're in for a very fun trip, my friends!
Never heard this group before. Oh My Gosh, THE ENERGY was unreal, and the charge in the air was INTENSE.!!! Love it!! Extremely talented guys!!! And their representation and style is Amazing!!
Well said, EJ. They definitely made a GREAT first impression with me as well. Looking forward to next reaction to them. Thanks for commenting, and ur continuous support. 😏 ~ Tazzz ~
It is worth noting that this song is one of their more intense numbers. They do have some other fairly intense songs (e.g., Nothing Else Matters, Dream On, Wayward Son) and some serious/somber ones (e.g., True Colors, Can't Make You Love Me, Can't Help Falling in Love); but a lot of their stuff is much more light-hearted / humorous / fun (e.g., Mountain King, Bruno, Little Mermaid, Grinch, Rich Man, Oogie Boogie, Jingle Bells, Grim Grinning Ghosts, etc.) And then there's stuff like Phantom and Queen, not sure how to categorize those.
they don’t have a record label they do everything themselves where possible Layne the beatboxer arranged this. Eli the bald guy did the design of the backgrounds and lighting. Geoff (The bass) has is own channel and his wife is Voiceplay’s production manager. they are truly amazing I would try nothing else matters which also features JNone. ❤🏴
What sets VoicePlay apart from Home Free and PTX is the fact that they don't have a lane. They literally do everything. They do it all themselves and are genuinely just good people with freakishly good abilities
They *have* a line (it's the theatrical stuff, songs from musicals and such), they're just not consistent about staying in it. This also applies to the individual singers staying in their respective vocal lanes. Sometimes they just plain don't.
Ah, where to start. The group has been five male members since it was formed in 1997. The name was changed to Voiceplay 10 or 12 years ago. The bass, Geoff Castellucci and the beatboxer, Layne Stein are the remaining founding members. The bald tenor, Eli (pronounced ellie) joined in 2010. They had some crew changes in the last three years. Another founding member, Earl Elkins Jr, left in 2020 for undisclosed personal reasons. J None (the rapper) joined in 2018 and left in 2021 when he was recruited by the US Navy to sing with them. Cesar de la Rosa joined them in 2021. They have been using a variety of featured artists since then. This is a cover, the original was written and performed by Miracle Of Sound. He posted a comment, pinned by Voiceplay, that said "Well done, lads. Definitely one of the more creative covers I've heard! I rate it ten raised alehorns out of ten 🤘" They are independent, no label, no manager, they do everything themselves. Complete artistic freedom, and thus, not as much exposure as some other artists. Do their cover of Nothing Else Matters by Metallica next. Subscribed in anticipation of more Voiceplay!
I just watched your reaction and I loved your reaction so much I subscribed. Voiceplay are known as the theater kids of acapella. They are completely independent and do everything themselves(filming recording sets lighting and arrangements) for some video suggestions Nothing else matters Metallica cover, Dream on Arrowsmith cover, hoist the colors from pirates of the Caribbean and the Halo theme. Looking forward to seeing more reactions
😁. Thanks so much for subscribing, Lee Ann. Very happy you like what you heard/seen. Thanks for the song suggestions as well. Looking forward to more Voice Play, since they made an AWESOME first impression. Does V.P. a fanbase nickname? If so, what? Thanks. ~ Tazzz ~
@@tazzznphilly I have been a huge fan of theirs for a while, I have heard some refer to themselves as voiceplayas , other than that I’m not sure. Also in the description tab under their videos they list who did what in their videos. Arrangements are split between Geoff pronounced Jeff ( the bass) and Layne (vocal percussion and beat boxer). Eli pronounced like Jelly with an E (rock tenor with the shaved head) did the visual effects on this one. JNone (did rap section) and last but not least Cesar is the newest member. I hope this information is helpful.
The Voiceplay rabbit hole is indeed deep. And includes carrots. Pretty much whatever music you like, they've done it. Standouts to check out include Nothing Else Matters, Carry On Wayward Son, We Don't Talk About Bruno, The Little Mermaid Medley, the Halo theme, and Hoist the Colors. Geoff's solo channel is also a must watch. His Sound of Silence is stunning, Way Down is a lot of fun, Ghost Riders in the Sky is great too.
So happy to see Voiceplay on your cahannel! ❤ I recommend anything by them but especially Nothing Else Matters, Dream On, Hoist the Colours, Dragonborn Comes and Oogie Boogie’s Song!
VoicePlay has a tendency to go all in. I'd definitely say you guys gotta see their version of "Nothing Else Matters" and "Hoist the Colours." They're both absolutely fantastic!
Glad to see more VoicePlayas join the gang. Geoff, that bass, stays rather low in this one, but has an extensive range. On his own channel, he just released A Man of Constant Sorrow. Check it out.
JNone is a former member of the group who left to serve in military, but still collabs. Voice Play is affectionately called the Theater Kids of Acappella. All 3 groups have benefited from the way Voice Play constantly pushes the envelope in this genre. Voice Play seems to get better and better every video.
I've been a VoicePlay fan (and patron) since last year and love almost everything they do. But they have really released a couple of extraordinarily outstanding videos just in the past few months. This was one of them. The other one that you simply must listen to is their cover of Metallica's "Nothing Else Matter". It once again features their former bandmate, J. None, as the person filling out the 'fifth spot' for them. I was never a Metallica or heavy metal fan and wasn't familiar with this song, but they took a one-of-a-kind classic song and somehow made it into their own. Almost all of VoicePlay's arrangements are done by Layne (the beatboxer) or Geoff (the long-haired bass gentleman). Valhalla Calling was a Layne arrangement, Nothing Else Matters is a Geoff arrangement.
Voiceplay is fantastic, and unique in that they do almost everything themselves. The vocal arrangements, filming, sets, costumes, lighting, editing ... all them. They do occasionally use a professional makeup person (see In the Hall of the Mountain King! ). Insanely talented and creative!
J None was a member in Voiceplay and left to join the military. He is uber talented. Geoff is the bass. Layne the beat boxer and those 2 arrange their music they do. Both brilliant at arranging. J writes his own raps and used to give lessons on how to rap. Anyway Voiceplay is my favorite group and I am sure you will enjoy all they do.
Also note that Eli (Bald fellow - Tenor) also does the FX (background, computer-generated), and lighting. Layne also co-owns PattyKake productions, where many of Voiceplays videos are filmed. They are all crazy multi-talented and play musical instruments as well.
In the Viking religion Valhalla was where you went if you died with honour in battle. At least that was one of the places. There was another. J.None is a former member of VoicePlay who now sings with the US navy but who manages to be with them when on leave. He's the guy doing the rap in this. VoicePlay are known as the theatre kids of a capella music, as many of their videos are now in this more cinematic style. The arrangements are mostly done by Geoff Castelucci, the bass, or Layne Stein, the beatboxer. They also do the editing and just about everything else. Nice reaction. Incidentally, some have suggested that Geoff went through puberty twice to get that low a voice. :) Another one in similar style is The Dragonborn Comes, from the game Skyrim, but they sing in many many genres.
Oh, J. None is VoicePlay, he's just off serving his country for a while. He joined the Navy about 2 years ago. He's looking forward to being back full time afterwards. You should check out Nothing Else Matters, another recent drop with J. None. More suggestions: Queen in 5 Minutes, Boy Bands in 5 Minutes, My Mother Told Me (which was part 1 to this song), Just Sing (captions on are a must!), Halo, Dragonborn Comes, Eleanor Rigby, Running Up That Hill and if you like Disney just throw a dart. Subscribed and looking forward to more VoicePlay reactions!!
I heard one person compare the 3 groups like-Pentatonix is like the Student council, Voice Play is the Drama Club (they love their costumes!), and Home Free are the Good Ol' Boys out in the parking lot. Pretty much covers them LOL!
VoicePlay was on the Sing Off the year Home Free won and they became good friends on the Sing Off Tour. They previously did a cover of My Mother Told Me when J was still a regular member and they had a different guest artist. MMTM what is used in the TV program The Vikings and the Assassin’s Creed Video game. In My Mother Told Me, Eli (bald tenor) was a beserker. He obviously has recruited the whole group now. J was a permanent member from 2017 to 2021 when the Navy recruited him to front one of their bands. I love that they have him looking across the water like he is returning home. Eli (bald tenor) did the amazing backgrounds using Unreal Engine (used in games and film for background). It was filmed, not green screen, but at a studio with immense (Full wall!) LED screens. It was 90° in Florida that day and the air conditioning in the studio was broken and they were all dressed in leather and fur!
Who would have thought that Viking battle cries and Rap would fit so well? This is just one of the many reasons I love the current roster of these fearless a cappella groups, their willingness to mix it up, break genre barriers and magically make it work! Whether it's Vikings and Rap or Reggae beats to Johnny Cash songs, it is the blending of things that should not meld, but unexpected and delightfully do. I love these type of journeys. (It was J. None who created the Rap bars. Hopefully when he finishes his tour in the military he will rejoin Voice Play) 👍
Just FYI - while J None did wonderfully well on the rap, he did not write it. VoicePlay credits Alfredo Austin with the rap lyrics. He also wrote the rap J spits in their cover of “Superstition”.
@@hwyla4416 Thanks for the info. It matched so well the rhythm of the piece. It was perfectly integrated so congratulations Alfredo! Well done and good job J. None with presentation.
Yes, J None did the rap. He is a previous member that went into the Navy, but returns to collab when on leave. We hope J None will return full time when his service time is done.
They out do themselves every time! I cannot stop watching this, it is amazing!! That first B0 Geoff hits lasts for 15 seconds!! Eli has become the Asgardian god of rock, Layne is a beatboxing god, Cesar has become a Berserker, and J None has shown us that rap indeed belongs in acapella! Great reaction! Miracle of Sound who wrote the song, gave them 10 out of 10 alehorns. From Assassins Creed Valhalla. J None used to a part of VoicePlay
Great reaction guys. Voiceplay fans are Voiceplayas. They are a fantastic group. Extremely talented in everything they do. They do have some live videos from when they toured and on the Sing Off. Road Trip (blue lighting) and Chicken Song are 2 hilarious live videos. When they toured they did mostly comedy music skits. Like Road Trip and Chicken Song. But also did covers. They're ACA Top 10s and Medleys are awesome too. Most of the Top 10s are also live. They've been doing videos for 10+ years. But been together since 1997 under the name name 4:2: Five by Geoff, Layne, Earl arl Elkins Jr, Mikal Kilmore and Scott Porter (original beatboxer). Geoff taught Layne beatboxing when Scott left in 2093 for his very successful acting career. You can see Scott in their Halo Theme video.
This is Grammy worthy for sure...Voiceplay has done it again...🥰🥰🥰 Just a note to Philly, need to have some expressions...😁😁 maybe just a little anyway.
Philly was probably just broken. Valhalla Calling Me for a first reaction is like stepping into a waterfall. Brain flood of information and all the "rule breaking" they do.
Yes, Pentatonix won the Sing Off in 2011, Home Free won the next year in 2012, and Voiceplay were on the same season but didn't quite make it to the end. They hadn't quite sorted their sound then. Apparently Geoff used to do more tenor work and Tm Foust of Home Free encouraged his bass. Theres a vid of theirs called 'Just Sing that has lots of their collaborators on. Watch with the captions on to see who they all are. They are the Acapella theatre kids. They do really fun Disney stuff too, not all massive epics. J None was a memeber of Voiceplay, they like to have 5. He's serving in the US Navy just now and recorded this on leave and aslo Nothing Else Matters from Metallica. Geoff Castellucci also does lots of solo stuff in multiple parts, but they're all Geoff. In the Viking theme, try the prequel to this My Mother Told Me. And a fun one like Moana Medley.
My Mother Told Me and Valhalla Calling Me are songs covered from the video game Assassin's Creed. In The Hall OF The Mountain King is a mind blowing example of how voices can BE the music. The original is all instrumental.
Oh wow, that is cool! Since i play video games - and made some indie ones too - I need to check out Assassins Creed to hear and appreciate that. Thanks for the intel, Mamie. ~ Tazzz ~
Folks have already filled you in on who J. None is. The group was founded by Geoff Castellucci (the bass) and Layne Stein (the beatboxer) way back in '97. And those two do most of the group's arrangements, usually splitting 50/50 between them. You're right about them being on The Sing-Off, they were actually on the same season as Home Free, and the two groups are still friendly/cooperative with each other. The line-up that year (and who you'll see in their older UA-cam videos) include Tony Wakim, who left in 2016, (J. None came in to fill his spot) to run Patticake productions, a video company he co-owns with Layne, and where the group films 99%+ of their videos, and Earl Elkins, who left in 2020, on good terms, for personal reasons. So if you go ~3 years back in their rabbit hole, you'll see different faces.
Thank you for a great reaction to Voice Play. They are known as The Theater Kids of a capella. They don't work under any record label. They do 99% of everything themselves. The low bass singer Geoff Castallucci's wife Kathy is their production auto as well as Geoff's ( Jeff ). These guys don't stay in their own lane. As with all Voice Play & Geoff's videos you should always wait until the credits stop rolling before ending a video. Sometimes they have a blackout /pause just before the ending message or climax. Please do a reaction video of Voice Plays cover " Dream On " originally by Aerosmith. Also Carry On Wayward Son... Queen In 5 Minutes...Hoist the Colors...The Dragonborn Comes Skyrim... Halo theme song from the Halo video game. The composer said it was the best cover song he ever heard. Needless to say, he was amazed. Geoff has his own channel where is clones himself 3 or 4 times & harmonizes with himself. His newest ones are Man Of Constant Sorrow...Sounds Of Silence check him out. These guys always stay true to the original while adding their own twist. Sometimes they have a woman as a featured guest as in If I Were A Rich Man/Girl...We Don't Talk About Bruno...The Little Mermaid.
Always great to see someone new discover VoicePlay! Everything they've done is awesome, but if you enjoyed this one then I recommend in particular Hoist the Colours, Nothing Else Matters, Queen in Five Minutes, Carry On Wayward Son, Dream On and My Mother Told Me (to which this video is a sequel.) Their bass singer, Geoff Castellucci, also has a channel for his solo work, and Ghost Riders In the Sky would be a great place to start checking out his stuff. Liked, subscribed and looking forward to seeing more!
@@DTA-Music no, thank YOU for being positive and friendly. MOST of our Phantazzztics are...but u know there are always some Trolls or Pathetics that TRY to stir the proverbial pot. Ha! ~ Tazzz ~
VoicePlay has been around for ages so you guys have a lot to see. They released one last fall that I think is one of their best Hide And Seek (ding dong) def worth checking out.Enjoy and Thx great reaction
This is from the video game Assassin's Creed, so not an original. Yes, J. None is the one that did the rap. He used to be a member of VoicePlay, but left to serve in the military, and comes back to sing with VoicePlay when he can. VoicePlay is extremely talented. There are currently four "regular" members, but they usually feature a fifth vocalist. They feature both male and female vocalists. One of my favorite by VoicePlay is their Little Mermaid medley (this was when J. None was still a member and they feature a female vocalist). There are three other a capella groups out there (beside Home Free, Pentatonix, and VoicePlay). The first is Voctave and Voctave is a TOTALLY different animal--no less talented, just very different. Voctave has 11 members and they use all 11 to come up with harmonies that you don't hear anywhere else. Voctave has both male and female vocalists all the time and they style they do is different--they do a lot of Disney stuff. They occasionally do something with musical instruments, but are mainly a capella. One of my favorites from Voice Play is the Disney Princess Medley (featuring the ladies of Voctave), which is great in terms of music, but also highlights the evolution of Disney princesses through the years. Peter Hollens (aka "the king of layering") does solo stuff, but also collaborates with others. He's fantastic. I think my favorite of his "solo" stuff is "Shenandoah" (from the movie of the same name). I also enjoy his collaboration with Tim Foust (the bass singer from Home Free) and "Misty Mountains" (from the movie "The Hobbit") is well worth a reaction. The last group is relatively new and is called The Bass Gang, four young men all bass singers. My favorite of theirs so far is "Hooked on a Feeling" once again featuring Tim Foust from Home Free. Again, worth a listen and reaction.
“Carry on wayward son “is a good cover. “Halo” and “Dragonborn comes” from Skyrim. If you like the Beatles they did a good cover of “Elenor Rigby” and of course “Dream on”. Aerosmith cover
Glad you finally got to the third of the Big Three a capella groups! I'm a Voiceplayer and Home Fry, VoicePlay tend to get less exposure (perhaps because they didn't win the Sing-Off?) so I always push their stuff. Another great recent one is their Metallica cover, _Nothing_ _Else_ _Matters._ They do a lot of theatre & film stuff (particularly Disney) and medleys, but they are versatile.
Great reaction guys. All of their viideos are awesome. They reprised their characters from their Vikings video.... My Mother Told Me. Left to right... Layne Stein - beatboxer/Baritone/Arrangements. Cesar De La Rosa - baritone/tenor. J None -guest/former member. Eli (elly) Jacobson - tenor/rock tenor. Geoff (Jeff) Castelucci - bass/Arrangements. Geoff has his own channel were he sings solo. He clones himself 3-4 times for harmonies. Each with their own name and personality. His latest video released Friday is... Man of Constant Sorrow. They are independent and do everything themselves. Including decisions. Except makeup, cameras and audio mixing.
The had a few different members in the group which was Tony who owns pattycake productions with Layne Stein the Vocal Percussionist/ beatboxer. Another member who was in the group that not there now his name is Earl. Tenor is Eli Jacobson who done bit rock which is some the songs you hear which Eli is the one with no hair. Baritone and Tenor 2, is Cesar De La Rosa. Jay None was in the group but he is in the Navy so he doing that at the moment. Geoff Castellucci is the bass but he can sing those high notes to. My first time hearing them my husband showed me their cover of the Oogie Boogie song from the movie The Nightmare before Christmas and been loving them I wish they do a live one in Australia which their a few of us now. They done a few covers of some Disney songs, I also like there ACA Top 10 stuff like the movie one they did with Rob from Home Free. Welcome to good group.
For a faster cover, you might like the Seven Nation Army cover, and for a slower cover, you might like the Dragonborn cover. As for the rabbit hole, welcome to the dive.
Great reaction guys 1 for your list Geoff castlellucci - misty mountains cold ( low bass cover) many thanks love and respect from the UK 👍👍👍👍👍👍🌟😀😀 amazing channel 👍
Welcome to the very best of the modern a capella groups. Home free and pentatonix are both spectacular, but voiceplay has the most talented overall members. (IMHO)
Voiceplay is based in Orlando and most if not all of them have worked in the various theme parks in that area, so they come by the theatrical flair honestly. Layne (the beatboxer) and their former baritone Tony Wakim actually own a production studio. If you want to square off your acapella experience, there's one more group you should sample but they're VERY different from the 3 you've heard so far. That would be Voctave, also based in Orlando and with members who work day jobs at Disney.
VoicePlay has been going a bit harder here of late: they just did Seven Nation Army by White Stripes. Which I highly recommend. But they really mix it up. VoicePlay has done Disney to showtunes to Metallica and Aerosmith. So please don’t think you’ve heard their “sound” yet. You’ve just scratched the surface. But they do, IMO work harder at their videos than the other a cappella groups. Particularly since they do everything from concept to set design to lighting to CGI to editing themselves. The only things the hire out for are fancy make up jobs (like here), sometimes an extra camera man or two, and the final sound mixing. Everything else is their work.
What a great song to get into voiceplay in. Geoff (the bass) has some of the lowest tones you’ll ever hear a human produce. That drone at the beginning was the lowest note he can make. They’re known as the theater kids of acapella. The more you delve into the vp rabbit hole the more you’ll understand this. You really can’t go wrong with their songs, everything they’ve done is as good if not better than this
Okay, this one will be a bit long. First, the group. This song is considered part 2 to My Mother Told Me, where they were also Vikings. The group is known as the Theater Kids of a cappella. Cesar (longer and wilder beard, hair tied back) wasn't with them then and J None was a member. Jose Rosario Jr. was the fifth for that much calmer, less berserker video. Several lineup changes left them down a man so they had several videos with guest singers, male and female. Here the guys are wearing clothing similar to before and the same tattoos/makeup. Cesar is wearing Jose's hooded cloak. J None got pulled in for a five year stint to sing for the navy. He comes back as a guest whenever he has leave (see Friends on the Other Side and Metallica's Nothing Else Matters [this one is the 2nd appearance of VioLayne]) Bass singer is Geoff (Jeff) Castalucci and he has a solo channel which is usually Geoff x4 or x5. The name tags in his cover of Elvis' Way Down and the notes on Ghost Riders in the Sky play on the confusion on how to spell/pronounce his name. The bald guy with the rock and gritty voice is Eli, pronounced L-E. I think he's responsible for the images behind the guys. The beatboxer is Layne. He plays the violin in 2-3 of their videos, hence the nickname VioLayne. Now the song. Note: the rap is unique to their version. The song was written for a show or video game (I forget which) by a guy who goes by Miracle of Sound. He himself has 3+ versions out that I think are worth checking out. The solo, then featuring Peyton Parrish, and then featuring Peyton Parrish and Eric Hollaway. Peyton also has a solo version out. I'd also like to recommend another youtube Viking, this one not involved in music, by the name of Tank Tolman. His tiktok shorts are messages of love and affection and encouragement. He's sweet and funny. Hammer! Pentatonix won season 3 of The Sing-Off. Home Free won season 4 two years later, and VoicePlay made it about halfway through. The three groups are friends and often work together in several capacities. Tim Foust (Home Free's bass) recently did a video for Hooked On a Feeling with The Bass Gang that is as funny as it is amazing. Another collaborator with members of Home Free is Peter Hollens. That man is AMAZING!!!! Check out his featuring in HF's I still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For, and his solo multi-layering in I See Fire from Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug. His work just takes my breath away. Okay. Quitting now. Thanks for your patience.
@@shilohauraable Oh, I totally agree. Speaking as someone who came in late in the game...years later, I don't think Honey quite fit into the group. I don't know if someone said it or my mind just conjured it up that she was only added to make the show producers happy. Much like Home Free got labeled a "country" group.
Update.... Voiceplay and Geoff Castellucci both released their Halloween videos on their Patreons yesterday, Saturday. They are both absolutely beautiful and amazing.
My suggestion is that your next Voiceplay video reaction should be the cover of the Imagine Dragons song, "Warriors". That features Geoff (bass), J-None-Baritone, Layne (beatboxer/baritone), Eli (tenor) and Earl (tenor, with one hell of a voice), a former member. Caesar (baritone/tenor) came along after Earl left, is the one to the right of Layne. In the original video thumbnail, from left to right, it's Layne, Caesar, J-None, Eli, and Geoff. And then, the piece de resistance for that genre for them, their cover of Aerosmith's "Dream On".

Hi Normora! Nice to see u again. 😁 Ohhhhh wow, ok. Thats pretty interestingly cool. Former VP member, that left, and came back as featured person. Thats cool. ...and in the Navy. Wow, admirable. Thanks for the intel.

Thank you for reacting to Voiceplay! They really are extraordinary! We are Voiceplayers.

VoicePlay got a 10 Ale Horns out of 10 on their channel from Miracle of Sound. VoicePlay is #TheatreKidsOfACapela my favorite then Home Free.
they don’t have a record label they do everything themselves where possible Layne the beatboxer arranged this. Eli the bald guy did the design of the backgrounds and lighting. Geoff (The bass) has is own channel and his wife is Voiceplay’s production manager. they are truly amazing I would try nothing else matters which also features JNone. ❤🏴
Voiceplay are indie from any label. They do it all from disney covers as well as broadway musicals.
I rate it ten raised alehorns out of ten 🤘"
They are independent, no label, no manager, they do everything themselves. Complete artistic freedom, and thus, not as much exposure as some other artists.
Do their cover of Nothing Else Matters by Metallica next.
Subscribed in anticipation of more Voiceplay!
Thank you so much. It means a lot. We appreciate your support of our channel. 😏 ~| Tazzz |~
Wow! What a first Voice Play reaction! You start with one of the best! 💖
Wow, thank you!
You should checkout there cover of Metallica's nothing else matters.
Glad to see more VoicePlayas join the gang. Geoff, that bass, stays rather low in this one, but has an extensive range. On his own channel, he just released A Man of Constant Sorrow. Check it out.
This is from Assassin's Creed video game an is after My Mother Told Me covered by Voice Play.
Whoo🎉. Finally you got to my boys. Love this crew, you will enjoy. ❤
JNone is a former member of the group who left to serve in military, but still collabs. Voice Play is affectionately called the Theater Kids of Acappella. All 3 groups have benefited from the way Voice Play constantly pushes the envelope in this genre. Voice Play seems to get better and better every video.
Thank you so much. It means a lot. We appreciate your support of our channel. 😏 ~| Tazzz |~
I think that J. None is a part of Voice Play but is on extended leave to serve in the Navy. Just my opinion.
Thank you so much. It means a lot. We appreciate your support of our channel. 😏 ~| Tazzz |~
Gentlemen. Only a start. The rabbithole is deep. Hoist the Colors..Oggie Boogie..or the precurser to this My Mother Told Me. Enjoy🎉😎🤩😍🥳
J. None is a former full-time member of the group, but still joins them frequently.
Going to also vote for Nothing Else Matters, and for variety their Wicked Medley and In My Room
Voiceplay is fantastic, and unique in that they do almost everything themselves. The vocal arrangements, filming, sets, costumes, lighting, editing ... all them. They do occasionally use a professional makeup person (see In the Hall of the Mountain King! ). Insanely talented and creative!
#Voiceplay ❣️❣️❣️
PTX is the classical group, Homefree does country, and Voiceplay are the theater kids
Welcome to the Voiceplay rabbit hole
If you're going down the VoicePlay 🐇 hole us VoicePlayers welcome you with open arms. Can't wait to see more of your VP reactions!
Voiceplay fans are “Voiceplayers!” Many of us are also “Pentaholics” and “Home Fries” as well. So then we’re “Penta-fry-players!!”
Lolol, wow - what a nickname. Well, three times the thanks to you for checking us out. ~ Tazzz ~
Thank you so much. It means a lot. We appreciate your support of our channel. 😏 ~| Tazzz |~
They're completely independent. They do everything themselves. Pentatonix is more pop home free country and voiceplay are known as the theater kids.
you're in for a treat. they have a big catalog and never disappoint

Good emphasis on some notes. All vocals good and hats off for a video well done.
Wahoo! Super happy u liked the reactions we did today. You had a great day today.... including winning a contest. 😁

Thank you so much. It means a lot. We appreciate your support of our channel. 😏 ~| Tazzz |~
Well done. Good start! Have a look at "Hoist the colors" & "Dragonborn"... from there anything is fine!
Yes to both, as well as to the "Halo" theme. Love that one.
The rap portion was not a part of the original.
They were added by Voiceplay.
Thank you so much. It means a lot. We appreciate your support of our channel. 😏 ~| Tazzz |~
Thanks for the cool intel, Ron! Wow, I didnt realize they have been around that long. Thats cool. ~ Tazzz ~
Or the Little Mermaid Medley. That one is fantastic.
Oh my! What a great, informative comment to read. Thanks, Kathryn! Such great intel. Looking forward to react to one or more of these songs. ~ Tazzz ~
Thank you so much. It means a lot. We appreciate your support of our channel. 😏 ~| Tazzz |~

Thank you so much. It means a lot. We appreciate your support of our channel. 😏 ~| Tazzz |~
“Carry on wayward son “is a good cover. “Halo” and “Dragonborn comes” from Skyrim. If you like the Beatles they did a good cover of “Elenor Rigby” and of course “Dream on”. Aerosmith cover
To get a good read on Voiceplay check out thier cover of Phantom of the Opera as well as If I were a rich man for an overall sampling
Thanks for the kind words, as well as the breakdown of the group, Jacky. Appreciated. ~ Tazzz ~

You're very welcome 🤗
As for the rabbit hole, welcome to the dive.

please rct to "My mother told me"
Welcome to the very best of the modern a capella groups.
Thanks for the intel. Wow, thats a great gig - Disney then singing your heart out. Cool! ~ Tazzz ~
You really can’t go wrong with their songs, everything they’ve done is as good if not better than this
Thank you so much. It means a lot. We appreciate your support of our channel. 😏 ~| Tazzz |~
I highly recommend Seven Nation Army, their newest drop.
Voice Play got voted off half way through Sing Off Season 4, but have DEFINITELY improved massively since then, in my opinion. I do miss Tony tho.
