- After Pierre Gasly's spectacular win last year in Monza at the 2020 Italian Grand Prix, Formula 1 put together an insight piece detailing the communications between the engineers you don't hear on TV. We got Pierre to go through the race and let us know what exactly was going through his mind on his way to his first F1 victory!

and the best was, his engineer wanted to him to win that race so much that he took so much stress and tension that when gasly screamed "what did we do" it scared the shit out of him

The most emotional race of 2020. AlphaTauri, Honda and especially Pierre deserved every second of this win
Grosjean crash was probably more emotional in a sad way.. On the other hand, Monza was more emotional in a happy way
Checos win was pretty emotional too, but I agree this one hits different

One of if not the most iconic moment in f1 I have ever witnessed

1 year ago out of mere curiosity and boredom i watched the italian GP, I saw a driver win his first race in a midfield car, a driver that i later discovered got kicked of the main team for poor results, I saw what could only be described as the Ultimate Redemption.
1 year ago i started watching F1 and that single race has turned into a passion that will live with me for the rest of my life...

In my opinion, Pierre is the most lovable on the grid. He may not have the pace of Max, or the car of Lewis, but what he does is represent the struggles gone through in everyday life. Sometimes we get knocked down, but only the best of us find ways to get back up stronger. He is exceptional in his persistence and mental fortitude. Not just that, he is genuinely the kindest man on the grid. Absolute class, does not have a bad word to say about anyone and always has a smile on his face. Hope to see him become a champion one day.

I remember this race. I screamed like crazy and drove on Ascari and Parabolica with Pierre with my hands. Afterward i cried like baby, i was so happy saw Pierre on P1 and Carlos on P2.
I had to pause so many times. Watching it all back made me blub like a baby. 😂 So proud of Pierre and that win.
This entire team worked so hard for that, so well and both Pierre's had total control over what needed to be said and done! Now just get the car running and we have a championship winner on our hands
First f1 race i watched gasly was my favourite from the netflix show and from watching highlights from previous races happiest coincidence that this was my first race

Pierre is an incredible driver. He gave Toro Rosso (rebranded Alphatauri) their second win 12 years after Sebastian gave them their 1st win also at Monza. This just shows what kind of no pressure, driver friendly environment Toro Rosso/Alphatauri have.

I didn't watch f1 for a long time after 2004 or so but i started watching again when Covid happened and this was one of the races that cemented my fandom in F1, love watching stories like this happen in real time. The sport is so different now but at the same time it's familiar especially when i hear Brundle on Commentary.

It's insane how everyone is working hard and communicating informations really fast, really precisely, we know how the driver and the race engineer communicate and do a great job together, but hearing the whole team behind, you understand when drivers talk about "all the garage, all the engineers and all the mechanics" and the work they put, amazing insides
