Amelia this was great. I have set myself the task of riding every day in walk for 4 weeks. (+ another 4 weeks). Aim is to improve my rider seat and collection ( on the bit). My mare is 19. Westfalian. I will report back 👍🏼 But already after 1 week I see so much.
Such profound and excellent points. Normally overlooked in the rush to do the fast work. The road to quality performance is through the soft and slow work. Well done!
This is why I like taking lessons at a dressage barn. Due to disability, I don't have a lot of stamina and am not able to do a lot of trotting. But there is still plenty I can learn/practice at the walk when I get tired or don't feel good to begin with.
What wonderful advice... I have heard the pure 4 beat walk is the hardest gait - and the gait people mess up on the horse the most... Thank you for great foundation exercises to do! I ALWAYS learn something useful when i watch your videos🥰🥰🥰
I ride a 20 year old Morgan who needs lots of walk at the beginning of a ride, I'm always looking for new exercises to supple her before trot work. This video was helpful..
I have just started teaching a friend all of these principles and this video has affirmed my teaching. I have sent this video (as well as others) to her. Thanks for the excellent help.
This is so awesome, thank you! My horse is coming back into work after an injury so we are on a walk-only program for a few weeks. Having more walk exercises in my back pocket will be so great to keep us busy and progressing forward.
I enjoyed this video, I've been working on the walk & trying to get the feel of my horses footfalls and getting connection. These exercises are going to be a great help in giving me direction & focus. Great also when short on time or when the weather is not good for the trot or canter.
I am new to riding you mine as well say. Very little experience as a child was in the back or my mind as something I remember enjoying as I love animals. First off thank you for your time. You have some beautiful animals I can see very well taken care of. I am binging your videos. I am really enjoying them and hope they help me in the saddle.
Thanks for the video, I do have an older horse who needs to walk a lot, and I also have a new OTTB who is coming off an injury.....so the video is very relevant!
Another great walk exercise I use from a video of yours Amelia is the ribbon candy for supplying my horse . I find it gets him really listening to my seat and taking the contact in the outside rein. 😊
Thank you so so much for this great video!!!!!!!! 😀😀😀🎠🎠🎠🌹🌹🌹I just decided to start all over again from day one and i decided to spend lot of time at walk to understand much better many. I will surely add your suggestions!! Thank you so much and Byron thank you as well evry much 🌹🌹🌹🐴🎠🎠🎠💞💞💞
I have a 22yo horse who will benefit from these exercises. Thanks!
Calms and relaxes my horse and puts us in a great rhythm

So good. I just got a new horse, this seems like a great practice to remind me to take it slow and really get to know each other. Thank you!

That's something we shouldn't forget when ride, thank you!
My horse is just like this at the walk, he really tends to brace on the bit. I’m excited to try this in our warm up this week!
Thanks Amelia once again for your invaluable advice and great tips
Hi Amelia, thankyou for your advice, I some times find I lose rythum in the walk ...so this video was really helpful thankyou x🐴😊

Yay! Glad you enjoyed it!!
My trainer also always talks about “feeling the horse in the rein” and I can’t seem to grasp the concept… Is there any way to explain it another way?
Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it!

Love it❤❤
I struggle to get impulsion in the walk, once my horse is walking she barely listens to my leg and it becomes very very tiring work.
How do you find tune your halt so that they're square?
I have a video coming up about exactly that!! Be sure to subscribe so you don't miss out on it!
In the walk video what do you mean he’s PRE? His pole up, and having him still round?
Good question! PRE is a breed of horse!
How do you subscribe? No spot on my phone...
Hmm...there should be a button just under the description
