    An example similar to the one around 4:20 is "NOBODY was in the classroom because they WERE outside."

    • @zombiedude347
      @zombiedude347 6 років тому +1

      This construction is possible because singular "they" functions as the pronoun of all indefinite pronouns, and the verb construction follows the new pronoun "they" instead of the old indefinite pronoun.

    "So relative pronouns are usually singular unless the context drags them into the realm of plural"
    Is it supposed to be indefinite pronouns and not relative pronouns?
    Great video on this lesson by the way! :]

    can someone explain to me why "some" is the subject and object at 1:01. Isn't the example ''Yes, please! Some would be great'' showing that ''some'' is a indirect object?

    • @jocaingles8464
      @jocaingles8464 2 роки тому

      because that's how infinite pronouns work

    • @giovanniblythe3944
      @giovanniblythe3944 11 місяців тому

      If ' some' is not the subject then what part of the sentence would be our subject? In a sentence, it has been established that there will always be a subject and a predicate. " Yes, please. Some would be great."
      Some functions as a subject here because it tells what thing would be great although there is a level of uncertainty here.
