I have to add, if anyone is seeing this for the first time and thinking, "what's this all about"... It's about top quality retro/vintage style sw figures made by a guy who cares about this stuff and who is making really special collectors items that look awesome next to the Kenner figs.
This was truly a awesome informative video about not only first shots how the molds are done . But awesome your making new characters to enhance our collections thanks so much its nice to see someone making a our dreams come true
The next17 figures fit seamlessly alongside my vintage figures. Especially when placed in a diorama setting. So I apperciate the focus on Jaba Palace goons or Cantina aliens...
I've been trying to come up with an original idea for a Kenner style Star Wars custom but can never think of one. Somehow you just keep pumping out new ones. Respect!
Been watching your web page but haven’t seen Hermi pop up yet ,something about the Hermi figure really pulled me in ,I hope you re release him again I really would like to buy one ,thanks for the outstanding work you are doing expanding the SW retro vintage like
You know Graham, I've seen the molds in action in certain videos, but you really explained it well! Thank you for explaining it so well to us. Those prototypes look super, super cool! I'd honestly go for either if I'm lucky enough to be chosen. Now there's something, unless I win one, that I will never own. Not that you charge too much for such a cool and rare piece, it's just that I have five-cent pockets and million dollar dreams! :) Please keep up the awesome work, my friend!
Well Graham i guess you and. I have a lot in common when it comes to having a big heart up our sleeves and we like to help others before ourselves. I’m out with my 501st group and going to hospitals and doing our best to bring joy to kids faces and same for other special occasions or events. Since I remission I made it my goal to display my collection to the Rochester NY toy museum to help with raise money for sick kids and just having these protocols the perfect display to show people how these figures are made and would be awesome to even display the moulds. Thanks again for the other figures you have done can’t wait to display them at the museum can’t wait for you to keep bringing joy and ideas to us fans of your creation and the fact you can bring out the inner child from Each and every one of us many many thanks 💕
The purpose of first shots was never explained so well as in this video with those animations. I had never realized that additional plastic parts can be included by carving out bits of steel but not the other way around. Learned something new today. Thanks, Graham! :)
I have to say, I've known how steel molds were made in principle, but the way you've shown and animated it truly made it click. Also, adding more plastic to a figure being more easy -- I never considered the opposite to force you to start anew. Talking about adding more plastic, I'd love a prototype. 😍
Great video, so glad I stumbled across your channel. Definitely worth subscribing to. The details on the process of how the figures are made is fascinating.
I enjoyed collecting your earlier figures and planned on grabbing some Wampa coins, a replacement for my broken Blue Frozen Ice Wampa (Glow In The Dark) & the Slug & Worts. Also saw the new Blloodlust Black Baby Wampa with coin but it looks sold out.I had no clue it was even available. But I am passing on Hermi, Owen & Luke as I'm tired of the repetitive use of the same body mold and didn't like the Hermi sculpt. I will of course check out any future figures that you produce in hopes of adding new OT or even Legends/EU OT era figures/items to my personal collection.
Hi Graham! You are doing a great job. I try to support it as much as I can because it is good business for me and for you. I still want to buy so many of your characters for my SW exhibit. Good luck, my friend!
Interesting how each figure is produced.. I wouldn't know where to start 😂 So it's lucky we have you around Graham so we don't have to 😉 Another two deliveries this week of cool N17 goodness... Nearly have a full house so a prototype would be amazing to add to the collection ❤️
So cool to see figures being made from the fan strikes back 12, giving those that lost their money a way to get those into their collection. 👍 (and for those like me who didn’t preorder that they’re just nice figures)
I have bought every wave of thenext17 and they are always amazing. They look and feel much more retro than 'has-beens" retro line. I love the way they look on my shelves. And i enjoy these bts looks at the process too. Keep it up graham!
I would have played with these as a kid, but pretended that they were ghosts. Now a days I would put them on my special shelf. They are neat to look at. Too bad you don’t have enough for every subscriber. I got Wuher in the mail two days ago and he’s currently tending the bar at his cantina. There are a lot of drunk aliens now.
To be clear, I feel a lot of likeness--a lot--lots of likeness, 10,000 babies likeness, perhaps even more than 10,000, or a blend of babies & prototypes, or a blend of babies & prototypes & steel molds that MUST be recut to fully describe how much likeness I give to this video. Giveaway! To me! (Enjoy your humor & video-making!)
Graham is a stand-up guy, and his figures are top-quality. His next 17 are a great way to extend your original kenner SW action figures. It so nice to have an uncle owen and farmboy luke added to the collection.
Dit is heel interesant. It's like seeing behind the magicians curtain! Leuk hoor! 😉 Ik hou van dit video... Deep in my soul... Like Vader feeling Luke's Presents at Christmas.... 😮❤❤❤

Kenner Rep: "No, we are too busy with Ashoka figures. let Next17 make them instead. He has the prototype." Vinz: "Not for long!!" *Indiana Jones music plays* Longtime fan, ever since the awesome but ugly/butt-ugly Ephant Mon! Would be sweet to add a prototype to the collection! As soon as some more disposable income comes my way, expect more orders from me! 👶
Very good explanation of how tooling adjustments work! Very well done! Are the first shots you receive usually in the items' base plastic colors, to work as plastic color approval samples as well?

That is so interesting about the first shots. Thanks Graham!!!
Thanks man, hope it wasn't too convoluted sounding!
Great video love the content keep up the great work.
Incredible figures and channel friend, greetings and thanks for the opportunity 😀
Freebies are the best! I’m glad I found your UA-cam- long time fan from your IG feed.
Awesome! Thank you!
Everyone is impressed by the mold animation while im over here wondering how we get this man some blenders!
Now we're talking!! Oddly enough, I did the mold animation in Bender 3.0.
Thank you for this great behind-the-scenes view into how you make all of these wonderful toys!

Graham you have always looked out for the community and I’m sorry if you have been let down by people or made to feel like giving up . Thanks
Great explaination of some of the process. I really like the likenesses. Really I do
I believe you, man ;)
Top itch figures. I love the ones I bought
Crazier colors the better!
These were kinda subdued, I thought. The Hermi was crazy, tho

Great video breaking the process down

Fantastic video, expected nothing less than fantastic from Next 17! Such a great explanation and insight into the manufacturing!
Much appreciated!
Great work man!!! I would love one of those prototypes!
Really good looking figures, great job
Very cool figures.

Hey Graham I like the way you go about making your figures, very smart
Yuuuup ;)
I’ve actually written an article about action figure steel mold during my studies in modern materials conservation ! Great video ! 🎉
Thanks Amana.. I man, Rayanaman!
Great insight, thanks.
Great work on the new figures

Pretty cool! I have a bunch of your figures and they look great
A bunch is almost the perfect amount. Almost.
Great work on the figures, keep it up!
Thanks, will do!
Really like the look of the new cantina aliens hiw to get some soon.
I'd do it man. I've got them and my life changed forever ;) :)
Another great addition to the lineup...It might be time to change the company name from The Next 17 to The Next 96.
Whenever i finish 17, i move on to, wait for it, the next 17😂😂

Yer welcome!
Great insight in to the process. I love what you have achieved with these figures
Nice video to explain the mold process - thanks for posting!
No problem, hope you enjoyed!

You bet!

It's super cool you're showing how the process is done.
It's interesting, right?
Interesting description on the prototype and the relationship to the mold cavity. Thanks for sharing
No problem. This is some of the cool stuff I need to worry about on a day to day basis ;)
I’m shocked there’s less than 300 people buying these! That’s billions of people missing out.
You and me both :(
Fantastic video on the process of making these figures!

I have to agree ;)
Another amazing video & I enjoyed seeing the progress of the mold being made. Looking forward to future videos.
Great work as always. I'm going to need a bigger shelf soon. 😄

Well....
Many likenesses, baby.
Thanking you with many thanksnessess ;)
Have you thought about doing other licenses, in this scale and format?
What license? Im making my own unique sculpts only loosely inspired by toy styles seen in the 80s
How much does the metal moulds cost? Just curious.
Very good explanation of how tooling adjustments work! Very well done! Are the first shots you receive usually in the items' base plastic colors, to work as plastic color approval samples as well?
No as i explained, it's just whatever color they have lying around. No one is looking at colors at this point, only mold imperfections
