    I had a lovely Vizsla, for grooming and reducing hair in the house etc. I would take her outside and wear rubber kitchen gloves and just wipe her down until little or no hair came off. At times she would shed more than other times which is natural. By doing this it was less mess to clean up and she loved all the long stroking she got. So it was a win/win for us both. This was done on a regular basis, sometimes daily when shedding was high or weekly when shedding was low. It only took minutes.

    Great video. We got a vizsla few months ago, now he's 6 months old. And I must say, even though we love him very much and we really DID want a dog breed to do sports with, the time we must invest into him is much more than we expected. We read a lot about this breed, we watched videos, talked to vizsla's owners..but still... It's really tough, it's like having a newborn and athlete in one. Our life is completely different now. And again, we love him and we would never give him away, but our life is so complicated once we got him that I really advise anyone who wants to get one too, to think about it few months....to try going on walks on your own before you get a vizsla...for the same time you'll need once you get one. Because it is really a LOT of time...and running or excersising is not everything, you need to entertain them mentally, too.... Just to be clear, I think vizsla is one of the best dog breeds and I love my dog and his personality and everything, but vizsla really isn't for everyone..

      I'd agree not for everyone - but I've just bought a SECOND one because the first went FINALLY through the 'crazy teen' phase and has come through as the most wonderful, calm and loving lady (Vera). She really has the most beautiful nature. Typical Vizsla.
      My wife is not as outdoors-y as me and I do more of the walking / exercise but to be honest they're pretty good with moderate exercise as long as they get a day or two 'big walk' exercise a week. And I guess we do have a garden and they get lots of exercise playing. The young buck; Stanley is now 10 months old. Recently someone sent me the "3 phases of a Vizsla"; up to 6 months = cute puppy, 6 months to @2 years = Veloceraptor (haha) and then after that... a la Vera. I have to say it's so true BUT the FUN these guys bring is awesome. Yes, you need a sense of humour and yes, you have to not mind having a Veloceraptor (fast and a bit clawwy) as a pet... even in this phase, they are so lovable. I'd have a dozen! I think we'll be sticking with two (says my wife). Can't recommend the breed enough. High maintenance but so worth it.

    We love our Vizsla. She is amazing with our kids and I have a running buddy now. In a couple years we plan on getting either another Vizsla or a Weimeraner. Training a Vizsla is incredibly easy compared to other breeds that I have trained. If you are consistent, they learn fast! She potty trained and crate trained faster than any other dog I have worked with. BUT I have to be honest, I caved and let her sleep with me. She is so sweet and wants nothing more than to cuddle, so how could I resist those eyes? She hops right into her crate when we leave or she wants to get away from everyone for a bit. We know if she is in her crate she is really tired and wants to sleep.

      Fifa sleeps with me as well. I used the crate to crate/house train her, but stopped once she was ready.

    Thanks man. A couple questions:
    1) Are they quite loud? Do they ever bother the neighbours...are they about as loud as an average dog?
    2) What's the longest you can really leave her alone at your place safely?
    3) If you don't take her out for that long walk/run a couple days in a row or so...does she just get restless? How 'adaptive' can she really be in those situations.
    Thanks, appreciate it!

      Oliver Philipp
      Hi Philipp maybe I can answer Some questions.. Our Vizsla is 2 yrs now.
      1. Our Vizsla is only vocal when she needs to be (when quarding or play barking). I would say less then other dogs. Our neighbours never hear her!
      2. We had to build up the alone time, because as puppy she maybe had separation anxiety(it’s common with Vizslas, they just adore their bosses). So as puppy when we left her alone, she would howl and bark. We starter with 15 min and came back when she was quiete. Now 2 yrs later she CAN be alone for 8 hours but this was only necesarry maybe 2 times in her life. On average days we can leave her alone for 2-3 hours but she will get her execercise 1,5 minimum per day off leash.
      3. Our vizsla is ok when we have 1 quiete day BUT you’ll notice the day after that she didnt had enough to do the day before, as in energy lvl 1000+ 😝.
      I hope this answers your questions!

      My Vizsla isn't loud at all. She'll bark occasionally in the backyard, and will bark a few times when someone's at the door. I'd say it's just enough barking to be a good guard dog, but not too much that it bothers others.

      i have a visual and can help
      1. no once they get used to you leaving they aren't loud but they sometimes whine for food
      2. my dog Roxy is 7 and she can be left for up to 6 hours but no more
      3. they are very good at adapting to their situations since we don't have a big backyard and i go to school my dog likes to run around our pool for exercise.
      hope this was helpful

      Mine barks when she hears other dogs barking or cats. Otherwise she is very quiet, she doesnt like to play in the house only when we go out, she loves to run. In the house she likes cuddles and sleeping. 😁

      Your questions are quite concerning, If I was a Vizsla breeder or a rescue I would deny you a puppy or dog, they are very energetic dogs you have to exercise them every day or you are basically torturing the poor dog. I would consider getting a cat if I were you. 8 hours alone is just not acceptable if it's because of work and you can't make it home at lunch to play with your dog please don't get a Vizsla!

    Thanks for your videos. My husband and I adopted a puppy a few years ago from a lab rescue center. The center did not know what other breed she was mixed with and we didn't really care, but through learning more about the Vizsla, meeting other dog owners and going to the dog parks we have determined that she is a lab Vizsla mix without a doubt.She has very similar physical features, is an amazing jumper and runner, and is a velcro dog for sure. We love to bring our little girl on adventures hiking and try to bring her with us on all of our road trips and vacations. She has inspired me to start running again! I was wondering what do you give her to play with or keep her entertained when indoors? We end up playing with her all the time, but it can be exhausting to keep her entertained all the time.

    • @JustinandFifatheVizsla
      @JustinandFifatheVizsla  6 років тому

      Hi Jennifer! It's interesting how dogs can motivate us to get outside and exercise more. That's a great question. Thanks for asking. It actually inspires to me to maybe make a video of tips for dogs when indoors. First off, I like to leave Animal Planet running on the TV when I leave for work. TV auto shuts off after 4 hours. When I'm home I usually throw a small toy for her around the living room, while I'm trying to cook or watch sports. I also buy bully sticks and chew toys to keep her distracted. As you probably know, these usually aren't effective for very long. Most of the time Fifa is just staring at me waiting to play, hahaha. Rough housing is always fun, too.

    You forgot to add that they are snugglers. They LOVE to burrow under the covers in bed...awesome on a cold winter's night...and not so great in the summer! But how can you resist them?! They are velcro dogs in the best sense of the term...wish I had the lifestyle that let's me have one...sadly, don't.

    Hi, I am about to embark on Vizsla ownership however one concern I have is that I travel periodically overseas. I know the breed can have separation anxiety - this is my main concern. I have 2 grown daughters who will be able to take her while I am away so she would be with family...is this a breed that could tolerate being without me for 2-3 weeks once in awhile??? I love the breed. I want to do right by her so thought I would ask for thoughts?????

    • @michaelmorine9430
      @michaelmorine9430 3 роки тому +1

      It's important that your your V is use to being around your daughters. They must give the attention and outdoor exercise. To be clear NOT A WALK, they need to run and explore as this is what they need. They demand attention and need to interact whoever is caring for them. If you do these things you will avoid a mischievious V. Good luck

    we have a 14 weeks old male vizsla puppy and we love him to bits. But we are a bit concerned that he is constantly biting, playfully mainly but still is. we know that he has to go through this teething stage but it just seems impossible to imagine that one day we can just touch him or stroke him and he doesn't go for a bite. I wish his bites turned into kisses one day like Fifa demonstrated in the begging of this video... This is our first puppy so we don't really know what to expect. Does non-stop biting during puppy stage stops one day or is it forever ? lol

      I have a wire haired Vizsla with her tail intact. I live in the UK in the country and it seems the sensible done thing to doc tails if the dog is used for hunting, retrieving or field trials, otherwise there is a danger of splitting and catching tails in thorny under growth. For normal domestic pets, like ours, we would never doc a tail.

    For the questions down, no they don’t bark a lot. You can’t leave them alone for a long time. You have to be sporty for that dog. It doesn’t matter if it’s freezing or raining u have to go 2 hours a day. Best u r a biker, runner, hunter or u have a large garden and other dogs
