  • Turandawai is a tumbuan (customary mask) owned by Kuu Clan leader - late Erick Kabisar of Tanga Island group in New Ireland Province - Papua New Guinea. These little atoll islands are located along the far eastern border of Papua New Guinea. Cultural customary traditions are still strongly practiced even today. Kabisar was on of the last leaders who held steadfast to these traditions as leader of his clansmen all his life. These performances are part of commemorating his memories as a reminder of his status within the clan and the island. (in Memory of my great uncle late Erick Kabisar)
