Don't bottled up Erika. I was once married for 15 years, a career woman who tried balances my personal and business life. For me the hardest was my married life and yet I tried my best to managed it even when I was exhausted. I always exercise honest communication no matter how difficult it might be but there are things that I couldn't changed and that is I never asked even if I wanted to ask, even if I know that there are critical issues that I needed to know and yet I didn't asked. I just relied on our own rules of honest communication that I thought we both did. All what happened was I just filled the bottle until it exploded, I only then realized that not asking is not ok and not having an arguments is ok. I was trying to be best in my marriage by not asking and let my former felt that he married his ideal woman as a wife in which I also realized was wrong. I don't nag that's understandable for a soft spoken person like me. Pleasing a man all the time is chaos that I just realized after my annulment. I only realized everything later on. Whenever I visited my married friends living in Southeast Asia (our lives were like kdramas that despite the distance we had managed to see each other 2x or 3x a year at least), they are the ppl that often told me to ask and not keeping in to please but I never listened to that and thinking it was ok not to ask. Well to make the cut, I had wasted my 15 years with a man whose insensitivity is soaring high in the sky.
When I accidentally saw your post from my wall feeds, out of curiosity I clicked on it and watched the "Daddy I'm home" episode. Warmth my heart so I subscribed this morning then found this post this afternoon on my wall and seen "Real talk". and now I found myself sharing some thoughts to ponder to may be it'll help you. Keep open and learn to swallow a bit of a pride. Be objective at some point. Keep it simple and clear. Love with reservation, always on check but not obvious. Things will be smoother if you do that as I learnt lessons from the previous. You seemed to be a very nice person and nice person not literally but usually the target of life unpleasantries. I wish you have more peaceful and happiest days that this life could offer. Your little Dana is an angel, so cute.

I think a better term for Ricky is he is disciplined. He has a routine everyday. Maybe because of his upbringing and military training. It is a good trait. I agree with Ricky for having time management because you can accomplished many things if you are aware of the time. I'm so grateful with Erica for being honest and trustworthy to Ricky to handle finances which is usually done by the wife in the Philippines. Erica is on a roll...right before Valentines day. Relationships "must" always have open communication and its so nice watching you both practicing it. It's wonderful watching your family and relationship grow. My husband and I discuss our relationship the same way. It changes over the years for various reasons. By talking about it, we conclude that we constantly work on the relationship to always keep it alive. We just celebrated 21 years.

Heart to heart talk: it is necessary to preserve the marriage and any relationship. You guys are awesome but let's face it. Dana is the star! She outshines you two. Hehehe. She always makes me smile. So precious. By the time she learns to speak, she will be a linguist knowing at least 3 languages: Korean, Tagalog, and English. I don't know if Erica speaks another Filipino language other than Tagalog but if she does, Dana could very well speak that too! She's already more advanced than babies her age, language wise!

There's a certain depth in your vlog today which I found worthy of reflection like when Ricky pointed out about the Filipino attitude of being more open-minded and more receptive (even conforming to some extent) to other cultures. It is part of what we call in our social interaction as, "pakikisama" or the spirit of camaraderie or getting along well with others. Interestingly, "paki" is a Tagalog affix for "please". So "pakikisama" may be translated, albeit roughly, as "please, get along well with others". Part of our "pakikisama" is being non-confrontational. We don't want to hurt other people's feelings so whenever we want to say something we do it indirectly; take for example, how Erica maneuvered the conversation in the vlog. I guess, one can say that we, Filipinos, manage to get our messages across not by creating waves but by sailing on gentle ripples.
