    Interesting, I like fluorocarbon on most of my Ukes,although I have used Aquila stings at times. I will say this Aquila does seem to be a very innovative company,always trying new things not content to sit on their laurels and that is a good thing in my book. Thanks for the review.

    I have just started my own comparisons, trying to find the perfect, for me, strings for my Kala solid mahogany tenor. KA- SMHT-SC. Including Aquila SNG, D’Addario EJ65TLG, Aquila Sugar for tenors and Living Water, all with a low g. The Sugars are a very nice string! I’m still not sure they will be my everyday string, as I love my Living Waters but definitely a close second. Thank you again for taking the time to do these “Just my opinion” videos. I value those opinions and 97% of the time, I agree. 😊👍🏻

      Yeah - strings are the most subjective thing ever. You really need to do your own tests like you have done

    Received these sugar strings as a free gift (with the purchase of their (7M Soprano) from the Mercantino Dell' Ukulele. It was a nice surprise. Though I like the strings that come with this model, I'm looking forward to hearing how they sound and feel. 😃

    I love these strings because they sound so alive and warm but very bright also! I dont mind little squeak, after two weeks of regular playing the sound is barely noticeable. I guess it is the biological nature of these strings that is giving them these characteristics.

  • @roastbeast4208

    Baz, can you do an update on this? The sugars have gone through several iterations since and I think a lot of viewers would appreciate a comparison of Martin Carbons vs the new Sugars. Btw, keep up the good work. Mahalo for this and the Enya Nova U Pro review!

      Sorry - this was one of the last 'string things' i'll do - try to keep out of debates and comparisons of them for simple reason that our individual ears and playing styles make people perceive sounds differently. I know some people who love these and some who hate them - but they are both entitled to that view!

    I am looking for concert ukulele strings with a Bright and Light sound. I am thinking of AGxAQ or Sugar Set maybe New Nylgut Set from Aquila. Which one would you recommend to me?

    • @GotAUkulele
      @GotAUkulele  3 роки тому +1

      Sorry I never recommend strings. Simple reason is we all hear sound differently, play differently and ukes all differ. What I perceive in sound you may find different. I see it quite a lot - people arguing over whether a brand sounds bright or warm. Yet they are both right because it's what they perceive when they play!

    • @la.olciaa
      @la.olciaa 3 роки тому

      @@GotAUkulele I fully understand, it's true the differences are often very subtle and everyone can perceive them differently, additionally, each instrument is different :) thank you so much! Your videos helped me a lot! Have a nice day: D

    The first thing I do with a new Ukulele (Meanwhile I have got 5 Baritonos)I give them Ken Middeltons Strings , 2 of them I stringed with High D, Kens Strings are the very best(I think)Even though the nasty Spanish Customs charge me 8 Euros tax(why the hell did the U.K leave the European Union -GRRRRR) for each order, but Kens Strings a worth it.Greetings from Jerez

    The stock strings on my new Martin ukulele sounded like absolute shit. After I replaced them with a set of Aquila Nylguts it made the soprano Uke sound much fuller and as you said, gave it more sustain in the upper frets. Thanks for the review!

    • @GotAUkulele

      Stock strings on Martin are Martin Fluoro - I really like them!

    • @GotAUkulele
      @GotAUkulele  Рік тому +1

      @@Xcorgi Thing with strings though is it's totally subjective - we all hear differently, and mostly play differently. I've seen people discuss certain strings - one saying they are 'warm' one saying they are 'bright' - yet they are both correct - that's their perception. It's why I never call my videos on strings 'reviews' - as my opinion may not match others.

      @@GotAUkulele I've been playing ukulele for 4 years and I still find buying strings a complete minefield. I've been guided by the "these sound warm, these sound bright" comments in the past, but to be honest when I have changed my strings (with a couple of exceptions) a rarely notice much of a difference in the sound. A couple of times when I've tried new strings and didn't like them I couldn't say why, perhaps it was the way they felt, or looked? I like Ken Middleton's approach of one type of string fits all and I often buy his strings partly because of this, much less confusing that some brands! Loving the ukulele reviews, thanks!
