y’know, everyone talks about how this song brings back memories, nostalgia, and overall happiness. Even though it’s a song saying there’s no god, no heaven, no afterlife you will rise to.
I didn't really see it that way. It's clear that the singer isn't exactly religous, however he doesn't out right bash people about believing in a god. What it's mostly about is appreciating the little time we have on earth, instead of waiting to die to achieve eternal happiness. I'm I believe there is a god well, but I still agree with that "notion" (See what I did there?)
I think they're talking about accepting there might be an afterlife, or there might not be, and the only thing you have control over is how you live your life. Either you can choose to live a boring life, or you could live a life of fun, but in the end you'll know what you wanted to do. I feel the same way kinda.
I remember playing this song on repeat in the backround while on the game with some friends of mine thinking, "one day im gonna come back to this song and think of that same day" And here I am doing so. All of those friends of mine are now not my friends anymore and we have drifted apart on both good and bad terms. But even if some of those friends ended on bad terms, I still hold those memories dear to me. This song truly makes me wish I was a young kid again doing reckless stuff and just having fun with friends not caring what would happen in the future. thx for 1k likes

I’m bored, might as well help with the lyrics. Long story short, the song’s about atheism and how the afterlife isn’t real, so you should focus on living your life to the fullest
“But i don’t need the comfort of any lies” Representing him not believing in gods, when other people are telling him to believe “For i have seen the ending, and there is no ascending” He doesn’t think theres an great afterlife “Oh back when i was younger, being told by other youngsters, that my end will be torture beneath the earth” Believers think he is going to hell for not believing any religion “Cuz i don’t see what they see, when death is staring at me” He does not see what other people see (a god) and people thinking that hell is right next to him “I see a window, a limit, to live in, or not at all” He sees a window (life) to live in, or not at all (People ruining his life) All of these are theories, not actually proven true, If you have any request which lyric means what, i’m here to answer!
My family is pre-desposed to dementia. So unfortunately it's something I'll probably have to deal with one day. Most people who suffer from memory loss remember their favorite music for the longest time of any type of memory. All this goes to say this may very well be the last thing I remember if one day everything else fades. And I'm okay with that. Beautiful song Edit: I came back to this comment after hearing this song again and I was surprised at all of the support. Thank you guys. I saw a few questions in the replies that I thought I should give an answer to... 1: do I think there will be a cure in my lifetime? I hope so 2: how can you slow the process of memory loss? Eat well and exercise are the best options There's always the chance that I and anyone else who's at risk for memory loss don't get effected by it as they age but it's always a gamble. To anyone else in my situation. Stay strong. Science is working on it. Hopefully one day we won't have to worry about it anymore!
I absolutely adore this songs underlying philosophical tone behind the immaculately upbeat and exhuberant progression. To me this song hits at face value, when you just absorb the lyrics and their immediate meaning.. to draw that vivid connection. Life is fragile, we all want comfort in it, some choose to live it for each and every new day, some fear the passage of time. No matter where you fall on life's spectrum of choice freedom, it's momentary and beckons you with a frail call. Each silent reminder much like the last, conveying that it can't last forever no matter how oblivious you may become to the innate certainty. One facet of the song that I'd imagine some people would've glossed over are the lyrics clearly referencing the proposition of eternal life through "salty" decades of devout worship to reach that final goal. Now I may have drawn that connection myself, perhaps with a hint of bias surfacing my interpretation, nonetheless the blatant grey area feels almost naturally there for you to reach a similar epiphany despite it not having said that directly. I'm essentially going full circle here trying to piece together the almost story like picture that is being described. Moving on, it very clearly attempts at illustrating 'falsehoods' claimed as indisputable truth in old 'letters' or scriptures. Anyone else catch onto any of the subtle undertones paving religious contradiction? To wrap, I suppose the song in one collective thought, is that there is no proper expectation to be had, lies for comfort isn't what this life is about, what's right in front of you is all you get. You fill in the rest.
“Sure it’s a calming notion, perpetual in motion but I don’t need the comfort of any lies for I have seen the ending and there is no ascending rise” 0:12 is so good! (Edit: why did this get so much likes)

Never knew a song could instantly calm someone down or make someone happy until now! Like srsly, this song has a sense of happiness, hopefulness and sadness. The lyrics are deep too. We need more songs like this!!!
Now that I know the lyrics, I appreciate this song even more. It's a song about mortality, being present and enjoying every moment, because you'll never get another one quite like it again. It's a song of acceptance, coming-of-age, to the realization that most people lie to themselves and spend "salty" decades, worshipping and hoping for a reward from god, in the form of an afterlife. It exposes the fragile human spirit, that needs to believe in something, to "calm" itself, so it ends up falling for simple lies. Ultimately, it is a happy song, about how beautiful it all is and what a shame to be wasted in hopes of something that isn't there. So, the message to be taken from it, is to live your life right now, don't wait for another moment to come by, because things will never be the same and you'll only live them once.
@@thetrueincognito5654 Dude, just because you don't agree with the message of the song doesn't make it stupid or wrong. Not everyone believes in a higher power, and a lot of people have been shunned or condemned because they didn't conform to religious beliefs. It's not wrong for someone to make up something to feel better, but when you try and force other people into believing that thing, then it becomes an issue.
" Im sure there wont always be sunshine... But there's this momentary beam of light!" that line just really hits the feels because it shows that no ones life will be happy all of the time but its worth living for those happy moments and moments of true beauty. or, "a momentary beam of light"
@@candypink5526he doesn't believe in hell, he doesn't think he'll go there, it's him accepting there's no heaven. and he's saying that we can experience heaven in our lifetime if we want to. and that heaven isn't real.

Man school ended yesterday and this just gives me all good middle school memories I’m gonna miss all my friends. Best year of my life enjoyed every bit of it. Going to start a fresh start in high school soon 💯💯
The psychological effect this has on my mind is insane. The song is about a guy who has rejected traditional religious thinking, saying he doesn't need the lies that may be told by biblical texts, and he was bullied for it, other kids saying that he will have a tortuous death under the earth. He moves past these fears, and takes a unique outlook on life. He says life is a "momentary beam of light", and there's a window, a limit, to live to your fullest, or not at all. He acknowledges the biblical texts saying if you believe this, then you'll go on to live forever in heaven, but he's asking, if you were really able to be immortal, it would strip away the meaning of life, as we have this short, momentary time, and we should live it, be happy, and have fun, otherwise you'll be meaningless. He says there won't always be sunshine, seeing the fact that life has ups and downs, but that way we can grow and live our life more than we could before making that mistake, or facing that terrifying moment. This song really is a masterpiece of lyrics, ideas, and has a whole rollercoaster of emotions and thoughts running through while listening to this song, soaking up what he's saying.
people calling it anti religious and hateful are so privileged, when a lot of religious people make the same kind of comments to non religious people. while I do believe in an afterlife, I think it’s a nice song regardless of the lyrics or not.
Cause it doesn’t matter lmao songs a banger yeah it’s about not being persuaded by lies from books of many old religions but that’s exactly what the song wants you to do, not care, don’t find comfort in lies be it lies from religions or fellow atheists
Its about being an atheist and how religious people are fools and how they got told theyd go to hell as a kid. How tf do yall think its abt nostalgia :(

@@Skulk23 yeah but let’s enjoy while we can
It can’t
So, the message to be taken from it, is to live your life right now, don't wait for another moment to come by, because things will never be the same and you'll only live them once.
damn okay shakespeare
@@leaningbranch Yea lmao
This reminds me of that good example of writing in English class it even has the author's intention 🤣🤣
Ah yes, gotta love a little existential atheism
@@thetrueincognito5654 Dude, just because you don't agree with the message of the song doesn't make it stupid or wrong. Not everyone believes in a higher power, and a lot of people have been shunned or condemned because they didn't conform to religious beliefs. It's not wrong for someone to make up something to feel better, but when you try and force other people into believing that thing, then it becomes an issue.
10/10 this songs rhythm and melody, progression, and timing makes the perfect combo
" Im sure there wont always be sunshine... But there's this momentary beam of light!" that line just really hits the feels because it shows that no ones life will be happy all of the time but its worth living for those happy moments and moments of true beauty. or, "a momentary beam of light"
It's talking about going to hell but this momentary beam of light is him being alive r now because he's already accepted going there.🥺
@@candypink5526he doesn't believe in hell, he doesn't think he'll go there, it's him accepting there's no heaven. and he's saying that we can experience heaven in our lifetime if we want to. and that heaven isn't real.

I love the drums in this song. The grooves are a lot more complex than a lot of indie songs but they don't overpower the vocals and other instruments. Must learn this sometime
In my opinion, the drums at the start were way to chaotic. It started to fit more as the song progressed though
