Erin and Josh, you have some very generous friends. This video was very special knowing that there are such generous people. You guys are so very lucky to have such friends. These are the friends that will have your back no matter what. Cheers!
Hah LMAO, but My bottle from UPS was undamaged. though it was packed bomb proof. A little hot, but that's not the driver's fault. They need to get AC in the cabs, so people can get chocolate, candles & food delivered in the summer.
That's it. I'm flying to Nashville. I need you to introduce me to Justin. Not only is he insanely generous with his whiskey, but he looks like he'd be hell in a bar fight.
@@justinwilliams7637 Justin, I was saying you'd be good to have on my side if one broke out! Kidding, of course. That was an incredible thing you did for S&W.
@@Chris_Martin707 man, I know. I was totally making a joke of it myself. First, thank you for the kind words. Seconds, if you find yourself in a skirmish and need assistance, I’m happy to oblige 😁
Enjoy and let us know what you think! The samples are blind so we’ll let you know which is which once you let us know which was your winner. Just email us when you’ve got your ranking between the two.
If I had knocked that bottle over in my house it would have been all over the tile floor! What a crazy flight and some unobtainium pours. Here's to great friends ( Sounds like a Lowenbrau commercial)😄
Correct, although that nuance got lost as we were hanging out, having fun, and not as focused on revealing in ranking order per se. On cumulative points, with one point for where each pour placed and the lowest score winning, the rankings would be: 1st: Bookers Rye (4 points) 2nd: Russell’s 15 (6 points) 3rd: Coy Hill (8 points) 4th: Disco 12 (12 points)
I do want to call out the higher proof = more flavor. It can mean that, and often does. But it doesn't always mean that. If you had a 145 proof barrel and watered it down to 120 for bottling, you'd be adding more water than if you had a 110 proof barrel that you bottled at 100. Basically water and ethanol are both pretty flavorless. The maximum amount of flavor will generally be at barrel proof (which can be any proof). And adding water will generally reduce flavor (though reduction doesn't mean make it worse). But the finished proof doesn't tell you how much water was added.
The 1st part of that is partly true. More water would be added during the bottling process or post aging, though not necessarily overall. Some whiskies are watered down more pre-aging. If a whiskey was barreled at 100-110P, it almost always had more water added (pre-aging) than a whiskey barreled at 125P.
For the record, although I did understand what Josh was saying about the cream soda, it did take me a minute because he didn’t connect the dots like Erin said. And in all fairness to Erin, Josh has left dots unconnected before that were more egregious and Erin’s clarifications have been absolutely necessary in the past so it seemed reasonable to do so here as well. Also I thought the gift was the twist, even though I saw it coming with Justin’s build up. So I was even more completely taken by surprise at the end lol 😂
Had some other comments on this. You are correct. They were all so good and we were more focused on hanging out and fun and less focused on order of reveal since our individual rankings varied so much.
What bourbon and rye whiskey is all about its sharing. Bought a buddy a bottle of Bernheim barrel proof and I have yet to own one but maybe one day. I believe in sharing good spirits with good people. Enjoy!!
Sometimes blinds are not always telling. I’ve found that some bottles can really influence your palate. I’ve found Blantons amplifies the bitter notes in other bottles. Just last night, I laughed at a guy spitting out a JDSB rye after just drinking a wheated bourbon. Too much of a contrast.
Our rankings were individual but we just did the reveal with last and then A to C for ease of reveal. They were all exceptionally special pours, just different.
I think the reveal matched Josh's individual scoring, but you're right, collectively I think the rankings would be C->A->B->D, putting RR15 in 2nd overall.
On cumulative points, with one point for where each pour placed and the lowest score winning, the rankings would be: 1st: Bookers Rye (4 points) 2nd: Russell’s 15 (6 points) 3rd: Coy Hill (8 points) 4th: Disco 12 (12 points) My brain was a little blown during this flight-even before the crazy twists-and I’m already bad at math. 😂
Correct. It’s just on tap at a local deli, and it’s so stinkin good on tap. That was the point I was trying to make but got derailed with friends, fun, and great whiskey.
