Since this question comes up a lot, the dev diary says "e.g. through Steam". It's a convenience feature, nothing else.
Also, when it comes to starting loadouts for guests and such, we are now building for the default scenario, but over time we can add different options for both hosts and guests if it makes sense.
I think a default load out jumping into a new game with friends makes sense. Kind of like a new agent getting sent in with the bare minimum and the just gear up with the veterans who've been out there longer. Give it that immersive feel of being in the field, and the safe zone give each guy their own hab for the stuff want to keep.

So with walkie talkies and proxy chat, can you imagine them having the mimics imitating your and your friends voices to lure you into traps?
thatd be insane imagine going into singleplayer and then hearing your friend thinking your in mp and then realizing your in a singleplayer and losing your shit because it knows where you are yet you dont now where it is
We've had some really fun discussions around voice chat/radio and mimics/anomalies. At the end of the day, we'll playtest and see what works and what doesn't, but it seems to fit the game well and I'm super excited about this.

A wish list for into the radius:
Jumping:i hate not being able to jump over leaned fences that you could most definatly get over.
Being able to grab pistol mags directly out the gun: need i say more?
Force gab and better grab points: its annoying when i panic and cant grab anything because grab points are shish.
I dont want to sound needy, its just mostly grab points and what not.

As a questian, I NEED quest multiplayer. Also more dense forests, and water physics. I know, off topic, but thats my dream. (Need my itr2 tactical tomboy gymbro gf)
As a questian and pcvr user, you as a quest user you also need to understand hardware limitations and why there can't be things like dense forests and water physics. Unless you want it run like a slide show :)
I understand, I just hope with the money they can optimize it to their best ability. :)
How to coop on quest?
I’m just kind of confused as to how it’s going to work for quest. If it’s tied to steam friends, how will quest players do it? Will there be open lobbies or something?
We can only hope its open for quest.
So I'm not a dev, but I do know how they took ITR1 through early access. They did it on PCVR, then eventually created a quest 2 port that could be released and played on quest standalone. So, from what I've seen in the past. My guess is that the devs will create an ITR2 port for the meta quest 3 sometime after ITR2 is officially released out of its early access phase on PCVR.
@@conroyyjenkinss I’m pretty sure that they confirmed that, I was just wondering about the multiplayer specifically (sorry for being vague). In the dev diary, they said that you could only join steam friends, which wouldn’t work for quest players.
They confirmed that's its a PCVR exclusive

Not keeping progress between MP and SP is fine. How many times did we reset in early access the first time around, and still kept playing?
so you can still use oculus by its self right

I hope into the radius 2 will have multi player in meta quest platforms, if it is going to be released on quest platforms. 😢😢

Hopefully that balance stuff is true, I rolled around with either a Seiga or tiger rifle, and deagle so Hopefully this time around I feel some some pressure in the late game.

Man, id hope they'd do pvp multiplayer where you pick your missions and go solo or with a squad but other players are out there possibly trying to complete the same mission or at least wanting to take your stuff to sell. Basically a radioactive dayz extraction shooter.

Well as a quest player I’ll just have to hope that maybe in like 2 years the devs will maybe consider releasing the game on quest and then I’ll wait another 8 years to see if they maybe consider trying multiplayer.
Itr will be lame if it is only for psvr. So I need 1500+to play this game will be very limited on sales. Devs say they make games for the people but really money runs the world and game world and always will

The only way I would accept multiplayer is if there was the option to play against your friends, and fight each other to complete the missions and for loot. Proximity chat would make this so much cooler.

Honestly Solo is fine with me. I enjoy the terror and feeling alone.
I would rather have npc's like those in stalker anomaly than a multiplayer feature that only adds to the world through friends. I feel like most people wont have friends to play ITR2 with and it will just feel like the first game.

Man, I love this game. I just finished it stretched it for 30 hours. Now nothing comes close. I have Asgard Wrath which is Next Level 3D VR like a ve God of War. But it doesn’t give the feel into the radius does. I think I’m gonna get my fix by trying “lies beneath” I need terror. I hope into the radius 2 feels lonely. I would enjoy 1 more player Co op. No more. I can’t wait.

I think restricting the multiplayer experience the way they are is a great way to keep into the radius...well...into the radius.

Honestly, the reason i quit at 4 hours is cause the game was so fucking lonely and depressing. downloaded stalker anomaly and enjoyed it a lot more, even without vr. only have 8 hours in a game i almost loved if i didn't feel like shit playing it.

*To be honest I HATE multiplayer games they ALWAYS get ruined by either children who have no business playing these kind of games in the first place or man-children who never grew up. Into The Radius is the definitive single player experience. Same way Fallout was until they released the game NOBODY asked for Fallout 76.*

You're making this difficult for yourself my man I'm sorry to say it to you. Nobody is stopping you from enjoying games in single player even if they have a multiplayer suite. Most co-op experiences offer a friends only privacy setting, you could use that for instance to play the game how you wanna play it.
Edit: Also. The definitive single player experience is S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Gamma. It's basically the best most immersive hardcore single player shooter project. A little dated by todays standards but offers a lot more than the current industry does in triple a titles. Best part is. Its a standalone mod free to play
Which is why ITR2 will be invite-based co-op :)
