Thank you so much for explaining the importance of sunscreen for our skin type ❤️🙌🏾
Seriously Dr Alexis, your skin is flawless. I want mine to be as beautiful as yours. You’re my favorite black dermatologist, hope you’re working on a skin care line for black women
Thanks Dr. Stephens, you always nail it. Your skin is just impeccable. I've not had a good experience with the Colorscience sunscreen (Sunforgettable Total Protection Face Shield). It's supposed to apply clear but leaves a white cast on my face. Can't wait for Dr. V's sunscreen to hit the market. Thanks a million for all you do.
I love the Colorescience flex and can't wait until Dr V's sunscreen comes out! I'm defo buying a few :)
I wish we drop GIFS here because all the products that will have to be trashed as I basically start over with my overall skin care routine since discovering both you and Dr,V!! That you so much for the wealth of knowledge.
The color science one is sold out but they have another version glow that meets all the things you discussed. Thanks so much!
Great video Dr. Alexis these are all solid products and I look forward to trying them. Sunscreens can be very confusing and your explaining them helps us all so much!! Thank you.....your skins is so incredibly gorgeous!!🙌🏽👍🏾🙌🏽👍🏾
Yes thank you! I was looking for a review on the Colorscience Flex
Colorscience Flex Deep did not work for my skin tone…just a helpful tip
@@teresabracy6459 Thank you I want to see what all the richer tone people have to say about it
I've just found your channel looking for sunscreens for my darker skin tone. Thank you so much for this. About to binge watch all your videos 😁
I hope every single one of these companies endorse you. That was very helpful
Your skin is flawless...lol, I want that skin!
@@DrAlexisStephens may i ask can you do one on natural.products we can use for our skin and how would i want to make my skin fairer .I became dark due to playing rugby and i want to be fair again like my oil skin (my face and body is olive but my feet are white 2 shades from extreme white like fair afghani /persian white)
How would i go back to my original colour naturally please help
I love your videos. You changed my life when you recommended pippette in a previous video. It’s my fav and super affordable!
Awesome presentation. Your skin look radiant!
I look forward to trying these sunscreens.
So happy to hear about black skin. I have had so many bad experiences with dermatologists who cannot relate dark skin.
Love your videos; they're always educational and useful. Plus you have a delightful personality :-) Thanks!
Thank you for sharing always! Your skin looks flawless!!!🌺
Thank you A lot of questions I had about sunscreen you answered and I think I know the best one for me thank you again
this was soooo helpful!! thank you, I read your description, please make one on body sunscreens ❣
Read your description too. Please also talk about the new chemical sunscreens as well as the new body sunscreens.
Thank you so much! I really want to try the elta MD UV Glow one. Hopefully, the tint works on me.
Helpful indeed. Thanks Dr. Stephens
Thank you for sharing
I got the supergoop spf 50 and I love it
Thank you for doing the work for us, Dr. Alexis. I'm Indian, and it's hard finding a good mineral sunscreen. I love SuperGoop's Unseen Sunscreen, but that is a chemical one. I want a good cast free mineral one since it's preferable for those of us concerned with getting rid of acne scarring. I'll give the ColorScience a try.
I appreciate the way you analysed sunscreen for darker skin tone. 👍🏽
Yay sunscreen review!! Those are my favorites ❤️
Dr you did awesome detailed blog, thank you so much!!
Thank you very much for your help we do appreciate stay safe
As a single 40 year old guy I really appreciate how you simplify this subject for me. As a guy all I can do is grow a beard and pray I don't do too much damage to my bare face
Dr Alexis can you please do a video where you talk about products you use everyday or often? Or the products you think people should be using daily/weekly for healthy glowing skin? ❤️❤️❤️
absolutely love this channel!
Thank you Dr. Stephens
Thank you for this review!
Thank you for taking the time out to research these! I’ve realized that I react to niacinamide so I can’t use the Colorescience one. I’ve tried it and I get raises on my face. Same thing with another sunscreen that has niacinamide in it.
However, I have tried the Biossance one you recommended in a previous video and it works for me! I love it! Thank you!
You are literally a skin saver
I am waiting for you to come with your own line of products. Your reviews are awesome.
Thanks for the review -
Olay has awesome sunscreen and it's at target - I can get it while shopping. I like the convenience.
Drmtlgy sunscreens are dupes for elta md...actually they are better the elta md.
Dr Stephen, can you do a body care routine? Thank you.
@@DrAlexisStephens Can you also cover products for acne scars and dark spots on back? Thank you!
YES I WILL BUY LOVE LOVE
Hi Dr Alexis love your videos!! You're clear consise and informative 👌🏾. Side note I love this hairstyle, what kind of dreads are these??
I love your videos 💗. Happy 4th Dr Stephens! Enjoy those beautiful babies 🥰
Hi Dr Alexis, your videos are always very educative and very informative 😉 to watch, Please can you do the same reviews but with European 🇪🇺 base minerals sunscreens Please 😘.
Hi Alexis, I enjoy all your videos. Thanks for sharing your knowledge free of charge.
I want to feel confident in my dark skin just like other black African ladies. However, I feel a lot of them are bleaching or brightening their skin because they are getting lighter in skin tone. What is the difference between these two and is it safe to lighten skin tone?
Thanks
Dr. Alexis is about time please drop your own skin line!!!!! I am never looking back!!!
Yes I’d love to hear your body sunscreen favorites
Hello Dr Alexis Stephens,
Is the Colorscience Matte recommended?
Thanks again for always sharing with us truly needed and updated information!
May God continue blessing your family!
You should try Avene Solaire UV Mineral Multi-Defense Tinted Sunscreen SPF 50+ - it’s amazing!!! Water resistant and sensitive skin friendly!! The tint is a perfect match
You are one of the most informative dermatologists on pigmentation (i have melasma) that I've ever seen on youtube. I would love love love to see a dermatologist such as yourself talk about chemical sunscreens for people with photosensitive issues. There are now many chemical sunscreens that use newer less irritating filters including ones that block visible light. There are many of us who keep hearing about how mineral sunscreens are better for people like us but I think this is incorrect. Some of the best sunscreen filters against short and long-wave UVA are chemical (or organic). Could a tinted chemical sunscreen work just as well? I myself generally tolerate chemical sunscreens. I'm sure I"m not the only one.
I have binged on skin care videos this weekend trying to decide on a sunscreen for mature damaged skin and you helped me make a decision I’m going with the color science and will wait for Dr.V product when it’s available,Thank you so much ,🥰
Did you end up purchasing it? If you did what are your thoughts?
Thank you that’s the one I wanted to know about dermatology I’m so glad I watch your show before I buy it not for me. I’m about the same color like you
Your skin is gorgeous ✨
Thanks for the video! Will you also review the Urban Skin Rx Sheerglow mineral suncreen moisturizer? It doesn't contain iron oxides, but I'd love to hear your thoughts.
I will be trying Dr V ‘s sunscreen 🧴.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
I am looking for a good sunscreen , thank you . I like your information
The color science one 😲😲😲 I hope its available in the EU
I want to try this new Colorescience one. I like the idea of tinted sunscreens however I wear makeup so I get my iron oxide protection from foundation anyways. I feel that Dr V's Unzincable is one that I am going to invest in because of the Melashield technology.
I usually apply actives at night but if I have something that protects from the sun and has added hyperpigmentation benefits during the day with the Melashield, then that's intriguing. I don't think any of the other sunscreens had that included.
Thank you. I will try one of these until Dr. V's sunscreen is available.
Hi Dr. Alexis, this video has been so helpful in narrowing down on what to buy. I may have put in at least 10 hours of research to find what sunscreen to get. I really like the Colorescience product. However, I noticed it has some fragrance in it. Is it low enough that I can ignore it? I’m conscious of looking for NAFE-safe products as I hyperpigment a lot. Thank you for your response :)
Hi there dr Alexis 👋🏽
About that white cast 🤔 I simply dab a few dots of foundation on 🤷🏽♀️ seems to work. I have so many sunscreens that I’m trying to use up before I purchase ilia. Great video thank you 👍🏽
Hi Dr. Alexis
I have hyperpigmentation and I am using the ordinary, super goop 40, and the ceramedx and its working slow but nevertheless working. When it is really hot outside the moisturizer really makes my face sweat BC I apply it over the sunscreen. Any suggestions?
Here for the Dr. V inzincable
Thank you for the review!!
What do you think of the ISDIN tinted mineral one?
It is a very nice sunscreen however my skin was sensitive to the fragrance in ISDIN.
Hey Dr Stephens! Love your content! Quick question…you speak of “blue light”, so should I be wearing sunscreen when I’m working in front of the computer at night as well? Many Thanks for your response!
the drmtlgy is my fav sunscreen of all time!
Are you lighter toned than Dr, Stephens? What do you like about it?? Thanks!
Always so helpful, thank you. Would a Charlotte Tilbury UV flawless primer review be possible? I'm really curious as extra protection is a plus ...if it works Lol
I use Colorescience on shade Bronze. It’s amazing 🤩 No cast on my yellowish medium dark skin.
Ahem.. Is that your pic? I would describe myself as yellowish medium dark skin? Aren’t you light to medium olive skinned?
WARNING to those who are about to buy the Colorescience (deep) based on this video. Try a sample or in store first if you can! My disappointment is unreal! I'm so grateful for this channel and Dr Alexis for trying out sunscreens for us but it had me looking like a ghost! She says she's NW45 in mac, I've also been matched NW45 in the past (haven't we all) but am actually more of an NC50. 420 in Fenty 5N2 in Estee. I will say it definitely doesn't look as bad on camera as it does in real life so maybe that's part of why it looks like it works for Dr Stephens. I also watched Danielle's review(Styleandbeautydoctor) and thought it didn't look terrible so I thought it would be fine on me as her skin is deeper than mine. The level of protection would have been perfect, SPF 50, demi-matte/non oily, visible light protection, water resistant but it literally feels like a paste and takes so much rubbing in to try to get it to blend (which it never does).
same happened to me. i also feel as tho it was too warm for my skin, just a damn mess lmao
Omg literally… the deep was ok for me but like you said a paste like texture which looks like a heavy base on me…just SIGH I rather just do a dewy look than a cake batter look.
I'm looking foward to get the Unzincable sunscreen... thank you for your content
It’s not available yet but I hope soon because summer is already here🤞🏾🤞🏾🤞🏾
Please do a body sunscreen. ❤️ the video
Dr. Stephens , please do a review of Kinlo Golden Rays Sunscreen 🧴! OMG I think this one is a winner! SPF 50 absolutely zero white haze. Reasonably priced .
Hi Doc, great video. One question, do you put sunscreen up to your waterline and eyelids???
Dr. Alexis, which one of these would you suggest for oily skin? I’m also located in extremely humid climate (Houston), so heavy skincare feels unbearable. Thank you!
I really wish these sunscreens were more affordable considering we’re supposed to apply every single day. I really dont want to spend more than 15$ on an everyday sunscreen
@DrAlexisStephens I thank you soooo much for this video and recommendation for us Lupus patients because skincare routines & product selections can be a challenge. I hope you and your family are enjoy your July 4th♥️💙♥️😘
According to Dr. V, you only apply 1/4 teaspoon. I saw that you applied more than she required please clarify. Thank you Dr. Alexis for educating us about skin care. You're helping us a lot. Much ❤🙏
Thanks fdir your time beautiful skin.
Loving your channel I just subscribed....how about for melanin skin 60 and over how that's combination skin oily T-Zone
Thanks for video 😊
Can you do a review on black girl sunscreen? The 30spf one? I got it from target. Would you recommend?
I’ll pass on these due the higher prices. Can you please do a review on Asian, European and Australian sunscreens?
Gosh... You are drop dead gorgeous
Thanks. I just ordered the Colorscience one.
Hey,on which website? Tried ordering it a number of times,it always sold out
I would love to see your recommendations for our little one- toddler through elementary aged. I like thinksport and badger but again, the inevitable cast and now the reports citing so many commonly used spfs have benzene (yikes!). Thankfully my minis call the cast their “shield”, :)
@ Dr Alexis,
Please can you recommend a mineral sunscreen for super sensitive skin? Even baby sunscreens causes me irritation. I'm not sure if my skin reacts to zinc or titanium. I'm based in the UK.
@dralexis. Do you think you would do better with the TAN tint. Any info on why the DEEP tin was a miss would be helpful as i have a similar HUE to you. Thanks
Hi Dr. Stephens ! there are so much more organic filters available in EU that are more than suitable for sensitive skin.I agree that for example avobenzon can be irritating but I think it is not faire to put them all in the same box. Moreover organic sunscreens are known to have a much higher UVA protection than zinc oxide...this is just a scientific fact...with organic sunscreens you can achieve PPDs of over 50 sometimes !!!
Yes I agree that there are much better options outside of the US when it comes to chemical sunscreens
Do you have any recommendations? I live in Europe so I can get easier access
Thank you, Dr. Alexis, for the updated sunscreen reviews!
I’m currently using “Black Girl Sunscreen”. I love that it doesn’t have a cast but would you recommend the formula for overall sun protection?
Thank you for your time!
Is it not a chemical sunscreen? Physical sunscreen are better for hyperpigmentation overall
What do you do for your skin? It's amazing, you're glowing.
@ Dr. Alexis Stephens I am new to your channel - HELLO. Flex in one sunscreen I have had on my wish list for a while. Really happy with your recommendations. Can you give your opinion on ISDIN sunscreen.. PLEASE.
Dr. Alexis can any of these be worn over your makeup? I have watched Dr. V video but I don’t see how you can wear hers over makeup since it is a cream base.
Also, your skin is beautiful. If I lived in Florida you would definitely be my Dermatologist. Thanks
I actually found zinc/titanium based sunscreen to be irritating on my face with someone who has hyperhidrosis. I’ve read the film inorganic sunscreens make on your skin, slows down the rate of evaporation of sweat, which cools you down. Every time I use them my face gets really hot, as if there’s little needles poking me, lol. I opt for European sunscreens, at baseline their uva filters offer greater protection than zinc, and never had issues for my skin.
This actually happens to me when I am applying some foundations but goes away when it sets, I wonder if it's the same phenomenon? I just keep a fan on me while applying, but now you've got me wondering if it's some kind of reaction.
@@SSNUTHIN hmm yea, I’d see if it’s just that one foundation. Maybe it’s a certain ingredient, or your foundation has zinc in it? I do know that for zinc, the film that prevents sweat evaporation is what causes the heat/needling poking and irritation. But everyone’s skin is different.
That makes sense! Inorganic sunscreens tend to be more irritating to me, too. I guess for opposite reasons though, I find them to be too astringent as someone with dry/sensitive skin. When I'm not using any actives and my skin barrier is in great condition I can use them no problem, but since I've started low dose tret I'm instead reaching for my favorite chemical sunscreens! 💕
Can you please do a skin care video on Peach and Lily????
Hi Alexis! What are your thoughts on ColorScience Even Up? I know it is too light in shade color, but I thought about layering ColorScience Flex in either tan or deep shade. What do u think?
Gorgeous
I'm black and live in the UK and I use kids once a day (last up to 8hrs...) by Calypso SPF 40, £6 from Asda. I'm about your colour and it leaves no cast or purple look on my face. It's non greasy and fine under makeup as well. And no irritation at all. I saw a program on TV that said UK suncare is a higher grade than in USA. Not sure why....
Love your videos!! Can you please do a drugstore/more affordable video for best sunscreens!!
Dr. Alexis have you tried the Olay Regenerist Mineral Sunscreen? It's only SPF 30 but it didn't leave a cast on my skin.
I've tried Hydraboost Sunscreen Broad Spectrum 50% by Neutrogena..it rubs on very well! Haven't seen it lately though
Dr Alexis can you please just make a sunscreen and we can call it a day 😂 Every time you make a video I think it is an announcement that your product is ready. I’ll buy 10 of whatever you make.
@purplegal05 I was thinking the same♥️She has a background in Cosmetic Chemistry, so I’m just waiting for the day she formulates her own skincare line so I can buy it all🥰💯👌🏽😘
Put me down for one too 😃
❤️Thank you so much for your support! Working on it 🥰
Yes, plz.
Makes sense to me!! ⭐️🇺🇸⭐️🇺🇸⭐️🇺🇸⭐️🇺🇸⭐️🇺🇸⭐️🇺🇸⭐️
