thank you for this reaction!! the rose’s music never fails to pull on my heartstrings, i’ve loved their music since the first time i heard notes come out of woosung’s mouth :)) here’s some info on them, sorry in advance it’s a bit long: members: woosung (vocal, guitar), dojoon (keyboard/guitar, vocal), hajoon (background vocals, drum), and jaehyeong (maknae, background vocal, bass) hajoon, jaehyeong, and dojoon started as a small band called Windfall just busking for fun on the streets when they recruited their good friend, woosung, as a vocal and released their first song, Sorry, in 2017 (which by the way is my most replayed song of all time and the thing that hooked me into them- a must listen!). after a few more phenomenal releases, in 2020 they filed a lawsuit against their former company for mismanagement and failure to pay, and then began a kind of hiatus when all the members (excluding woosung who is from LA) completed their military service as the lawsuit was still ongoing. before they went to the military they released a single, Black Rose (named after the fandom, Black Roses) dedicated to the fans. however because of the lawsuit the company took it down from a bunch of streaming platforms (but thankfully it’s up again because it is a beautiful song)! Beauty and the Beast was their last song recorded under their previous company and was released when the lawsuit was won, ending their contract. it marks the end of an era and the beginning of a new one, and as u can imagine it was quite emotional (i shed many tears when it came out but we don’t talk about it lol). i see it as basically just celebrating all types of love- you had a great interpretation as well! since then, they’ve established their own company called Windfall and are thriving on their own! they released an album, Heal, with the title Sour, went on a VERY long world tour (with another tour on the way), and are soon releasing another album called Dual with Back to Me on it! hoping you’ll check out some more from them! my absolute favorites are Sorry, Red, and She’s In the Rain (i recommend a live performance). but all their albums are no-skips as well. i love them because u can really tell how much they love making music together- after all they went through they still have the same passion when performing together on stage and it always makes me emotional :)) anyways hopefully this was helpful and not too long to read
Fun fact: The Rose had to start the lawsuit against their company because they were under what is comonly called a "SLAVE CONTRACT"... BASICALLY, a group or artist starts with no money paid to them and the company provides, room, board, clothing and as the group makes the amount of money the company paid to house the artist and members and such...then and only then will the company start paying their artist...Not every K-Pop company does this, but it's quite common... The problem with The Roses "SLAVE CONTRACT" is that they NEVER once got paid ever since debut and they would often have to go busking right after interviews were over to make any kind of personal money... Their ex company was keeping all their money since they debuted in 2017...up until their lawsuit almost 4 years later, they were still not getting paid and still continually having to busk to make any sort of income... It sounds nice at first to be able to make music and have your record company provide for you, but after awhile you end up being tied to your company for all your needs to live and thrive and it's all Dependant on not what you personally need to live or survive, but what someone else decides you need to live or decides you don't need to live... So basically they can end up holding shit over your head and giving and taking at will beccause that person holds all the cards... And you sit there as an artist or group in some "slave contracts" getting the bare minimum but basically being the one who has to basically busk for no money for a company that tells you when you have earned enough in sales for them to let you earn for yourself name(and allot of contracts take a portion of the money you earn at that point saying they provided for you at no cost) and have any sort of control over your life and choices... It reminds me of the movie Mulan Rogue...You can either make money for the company for free or have no money and if the company chooses to toss you out on the streets with no money period...they can say you were not holding up your side of the bargin and legally let you go...Hopefully you would have a place to go to period, with no money to your name... So, The Rose waited for about 4 years since debut and still never got paid or was allowed any sort of control over their lives in any sort of way... They had no choice but to sue their ex company because their "slave contract" was becoming sooo unbalanced that they needed to find some type of way out... Woosung has one of the most unique voices out there. I saw them live last december in Argentina (been a casual listener since their buskin' days) and they heal someting within me with their last album HEAL. Got me bawling too lol. I been depressed for a while and their music go straight to my little heart. They are really funny too, im glad you are gettin into them.

YAY! THE ROSE! Same, honestly - I was watching "Road to D-day" and hadn't listened to the album yet. When the scene came on for "Snooze" I stopped it in the middle WHO IS THIS GUY because Woosung's voice blew me away. I've been down The Rose - and Woosung's solo stuff - rabbit hole ever since. They are AMAZING, I love everything they've put out and can't wait for the full new album to drop!
My favorite Korean band! Woosung's voice is stunning. I've once read a comment, that said "Woosung's voice sounds like it's at the edge of breaking but it never actually does." and it's so true. The other singer is Dojoon (probably my bias, hehe). He has a very mature tone that I really love. When these two sing together, the harmonies are beautiful. Please, check out Childhood by the band and Phase Me by Woosung :))
I JUST discovered them! I went down the rabbit hole quick! I saw the back to me MV and immediately went through their entire discography! Woosung is easily one of the best vocals I've ever heard! They are all so incredible! I have heard Woosung's Phase Me when it was released but I had no idea who he was until now! They write and produce all their own music to! I notice any group that does that tends to be my favorites!

Beauty and the Beast was actually over 3 years in the making... they made the single back when they were under their old company but when the went through a legal dispute for non-payment and to get out of their contracts the song's release was put on hold for 2 yrs until they became independent.

So happy to see this reaction! I love their music; it feels very comforting and reminds me a lot of the music I listened to when I was younger. If you ever have a chance to see them live or watch their live performances, you can see they truly love what they do, and get lost in their music, it's amazing to experience.
The Rose isn't widely popular in Korea (at least not in the past) because they are a traditional "band" and not really an idol group. In other words, they write, produce, and play all their instruments. Woosung is also from LA, so a large percentage of their songs have full English verses or are in full English.
You should follow their story in real life. The struggles of The Rose from the start to going independent and starting from scratch. You will definitely get the lyrics of most songs and what they usually want to send to people. They are very relatable.
Please do explore The Rose's discography. They have an immaculate collection of songs, and Woosung's solo work is also incredible. His voice just *sounds* like that, and it's literally one of the most unique voices I've ever heard. They're a wonderful group, underappreciated for the amount of things they do (see: world tours all the time!), and they're funny as well. I really think you'd enjoy getting into them. Now that they've gotten out from under a bad label deal and all the members are post-military, I expect we'll see them really blossom properly. :) Thank you for diving in with them!

In case you didnt know, Woosung (Sammy) and Dojoon (Leo) are the primary singers since the other band members aren't strong vocally, however, their youngest member, Jaehyeong, was going through a tough time when the band was suing their previous company and wrote the song "Seesaw" and its one of the few songs in which each of the members actually singe a verse rather than Jaehyeong and Hajoon purely being backup vocalists.

I found Woosung and then The Rose through Suga as well and have really enjoyed listening to them. Lazy and Phase Me are two of my favorites Woosung solo songs. Beauty and the Beast is my favorite from The Rose so far, but their album really is a no skip.

Woosung has one of the most unique voices out there. I saw them live last december in Argentina (been a casual listener since their buskin' days) and they heal someting within me with their last album HEAL. Got me bawling too lol. I been depressed for a while and their music go straight to my little heart. They are really funny too, im glad you are gettin into them.

I know them during ILYSB woosung,im instanly falling in luv with woosung voice. After that i go down The Rose rabbit hole,putting all their album on my spotify playlist,listening almost everyday and then BOOOM🤯 my kitty collab with woosung,u dont know how happy i am at that time. Even woosung name are in the credit for Snooze. I hope after that collab,The Rose could get more recognize that they really deserve cause they're really amazing band

YAY! THE ROSE! Same, honestly - I was watching "Road to D-day" and hadn't listened to the album yet. When the scene came on for "Snooze" I stopped it in the middle WHO IS THIS GUY because Woosung's voice blew me away. I've been down The Rose - and Woosung's solo stuff - rabbit hole ever since. They are AMAZING, I love everything they've put out and can't wait for the full new album to drop!

Woosung's voice is stunning. I've once read a comment, that said "Woosung's voice sounds like it's at the edge of breaking but it never actually does." and it's so true.
The other singer is Dojoon (probably my bias, hehe). He has a very mature tone that I really love. When these two sing together, the harmonies are beautiful.

Beauty and the Beast was actually over 3 years in the making... they made the single back when they were under their old company but when the went through a legal dispute for non-payment and to get out of their contracts the song's release was put on hold for 2 yrs until they became independent.

The Rose isn't widely popular in Korea (at least not in the past) because they are a traditional "band" and not really an idol group. In other words, they write, produce, and play all their instruments. Woosung is also from LA, so a large percentage of their songs have full English verses or are in full English.
I love them so much, they are all amazing musicians and Woosung’s voice touches my soul 😭
You should follow their story in real life. The struggles of The Rose from the start to going independent and starting from scratch. You will definitely get the lyrics of most songs and what they usually want to send to people. They are very relatable.

Please do explore The Rose's discography. They have an immaculate collection of songs, and Woosung's solo work is also incredible. His voice just *sounds* like that, and it's literally one of the most unique voices I've ever heard. They're a wonderful group, underappreciated for the amount of things they do (see: world tours all the time!), and they're funny as well. I really think you'd enjoy getting into them. Now that they've gotten out from under a bad label deal and all the members are post-military, I expect we'll see them really blossom properly. :) Thank you for diving in with them!

In case you didnt know, Woosung (Sammy) and Dojoon (Leo) are the primary singers since the other band members aren't strong vocally, however, their youngest member, Jaehyeong, was going through a tough time when the band was suing their previous company and wrote the song "Seesaw" and its one of the few songs in which each of the members actually singe a verse rather than Jaehyeong and Hajoon purely being backup vocalists.

They had been on hiatus since February 2019 to December 2021 😭

I found Woosung and then The Rose through Suga as well and have really enjoyed listening to them. Lazy and Phase Me are two of my favorites Woosung solo songs. Beauty and the Beast is my favorite from The Rose so far, but their album really is a no skip.
