      @@nathansavelli Me too! Great comment! The problem is that the UA-cam algorithm would still probably show you this one unfortunately... it is a strange thing. I will add that to my todolist for the next few months. For more recent videos on the subject, you can also watch the ones I did on Earth Overshoot Day. I did some in 2016, 2017 and 2018: ua-cam.com/video/jgbY79Opn34/v-deo.html

    LOL I had a job as database manager at a medicine company, as a programmer, it was yes, lot´s of money. I couln´t stand for it! It´s time we start to change ourselves. Where are you at your life? I´m allways studying, all the time, I´ve got a lot´s of nice titles. From university in Malmö, and, so on: So I guess at my state of awareness, I´m good at studying. So now I´m so into ecological engineer program 4 sustainability, in an university in Sweden. Everybody can do something out of their state of mind, or change the negative chains, and psykological prisons. You rock! ! ! ! ! ! !

    Sentarme frente al espejo para conversar

      Hi, you will find all the most recent charts in the 2014 Living Planet Reports: wwf.panda.org/about_our_earth/all_publications/living_planet_report/ If you are referring to the chart about low/middle/high income countries, it will be on page 59.

    Excellent information! I wonder if we would distribute our resources evenly between all people, which life-style could we afford given the sustainable use of Earth's resources?

    • @learnsustainability
      @learnsustainability  11 років тому +2

      Thanks! I wonder about that too :-) My guess is that we could have a wonderful lifestyle given how smart and creative human beings are. If we used our talents to live better as opposed to consuming more, the potential is huge! Research shows that about 50% of the food produced today is wasted between producer and consumer. So technically we can feed twice as many people without producing more food. There are many more example...

    So 1.5 earths means 1year and 5 months or 1 year and a half?Apart from the Earths..the explanations were awesome.

    • @learnsustainability
      @learnsustainability  3 роки тому

      Numbers have changed since I posted the video. Today we are using 1.7 planets which means that on July 29, 2021, we had used all our resources for the year. After that, we are using natural capital.

    What gets eaten up in the ecosystem, for compensation, in cases of ecological debtation. I mean what are the adverse effect.

    • @learnsustainability

      Every time you use natural resources faster than they regenerate/reproduce (overfishing, deforestation, etc.)

    "Global consumption is unevenly distributed" is not the problem. If consumption was evenly distributed at the US level would the problem be solved? I didn't think so.
    You left out population. Fewer people means a bigger footprint for everyone.

    • @learnsustainability
      @learnsustainability  8 років тому

      +DingoHammer Unevenly distributed consumption is not the only problem but it is one of them. And yes, if everybody consumes like the US, it would be way worse. The video suggests the opposite: if everybody had the same footprint as the RD of Congo, the world as a whole would not be in as much trouble.
