Sweet potato adds to the end sauce. I use it a lot in stews as well. It breaks down and tastes great. Never made cholent, and I'm not Jewish, but it looks delicious and I'm definitely going to make it. God bless.

It would make a worlds of difference if you take the time to dice your ingredients evenly on the cook. Also using fresh ingredients Is generally better.
Its a very good idea to use old fat, but you should use it to saute your onion and garlic at first.
Jewish cooking doesn't need to be basic, we should try to elevate it just like we make sure to get as beautiful estrog for sukkot.
Hope you enjoy the tips. :)

Rabbi it looks good! I add 3 seranos and 3 jalapeños in mine. The "they" that say calories don't count need to make sure they walk... after lunch you need to go on a good hour walk and enjoy nature

From his Cholent to the Cardiac Care Unit at the hospital. Tons of salt and fat, not healthy. Garlic and other spices give it taste, without raising blood pressure.

What’s the point of washing beans? Why not to wash barley too then?
