I wrote that Elf The Movie review you mentioned at 7:05! Have not played that game since but can recall how bad it is. Super cool that you found my article and used it in your video.
This whole video I was crossing my fingers you guys would include Elf Bowling. I first heard about it in college on a Top 10 Worst Video Games of All Time List from Cracked, and then I happened to work for the studio that made the game lol. When I asked how that travesty happened, one of the artists laughed and said it was handed to them at the last minute by another studio with only six weeks to get it out the door, but admitted that the premise of making it in the first place was a mistake.
Dude I had the demo that I played for dozens of hours. I remember it being immersive for the time (and my age) as far as how complex some of the puzzles could get.
Honestly if I got Elf Bowling as a Christmas gift I would be so happy, in fact I have a new favorite gag gift. I just wish they made it for more platforms
I actually rather liked playing Elf Bowling and its sequel with the shuffleboard esthetic on my grandfather's computer as a kid. Had no idea there were 8 other installments though.
My dad and I used to play it on our family desktop, too. I miss those days, but it's also been probably eighteen years since then. The memories will live on.
Santa *_Clause_* is supposed to be a pun, as a clause is "a particular and separate article, stipulation, or proviso in a treaty, bill, or contract" [Oxford Dictionary], with the title referring to the part of the previous Santa's business card (written in microscopic print, so this series predicted video game EULA's) that whomever puts on his coat becomes the new Santa.
There were quite a few Doom ripoffs back in the day. There was a chex game and a Christian game company called Wisdom Tree made an FPS version of Noah's Ark. That's right. There was once a Christian game company that made Bible themed video games. They branded themselves as Christians to avoid legal trouble because their games weren't exactly licensed by Nintendo.
Holy shit! I played Elf Bowling on PC like mad as a wee lad, must have been in 1998! My grandparents had it for some reason hahaha 😅 when you missed, sometimes the elves would turn around and moon you, and slap their buttcheeks and say, "Who's your daddy?" And no I'm not joking. I remember it vividly, my poor 6 year old mind
We only had three games for the PS1 back in the day and one of them was The Grinch. We played it over and over again. I have such great memories of it but parts were frustrating but that kind of went with the territory I guess. We went out of our way to get it back a few years ago and I'm proud to own a copy today! It's nostalgia fuel.
Funny, I was just thinking yesterday how much I'd like to play that Grinch game. It's not good and I didn't particularly enjoy it when I played it, but it would really scratch a certain nostalgic itch.
Kinda interesting to see the Grinch on this list. I probably shouldn't be too surprised, it didn't exactly earn crazy scores either at the time, nore now. It's definingly not the worst game ever made though. I would ultimately say it has a place here, but am also glad it's the least of the naughty set.
Whenever someone says "I've seen Jack Frost", they should only be referring to the spectacle that gave us another way to.. appreciate, yeah that's it, the lovely Shannon Elizabeth-'Jack Frost'
If people want a Christmas doom experience there are tons of WADs to play. If you want one similarly old and janky in that 90s sprite style, try H2H-Xmas.
I am surprised that none of the Home Alone games made it on this list, which are notoriously bad. I am equally surprised that the movie license game based on TOYS (that weird 90s film with Robin Williams) also didn't rank. I had a copy of that game, and it was really frustrating. You end up going around the ZEVO toy factory and destroying weapons with toys that have little to no impact (except for a "Peanut Gun"). The game also changes perspective when players also have to take out elephant-shaped security cameras with a water gun before getting zapped by lasers.
There are also Santa Claus 1 dvd games where you need to get past obstacles using erro keys and answer questions and then after you win you get the prize of watching a little 5 minute Christmas cartoon and then the 2nd Santa Claus you have these missions you need to get by and then last level you have to memorize the colors of which you see I was never able to memorize them all
7:47 For People that question the sanity of their dutch Acquaintances now: The Philips CD-i actually did good in its homeland because it was marketed as a Musicplayer. You know the thing it's actually _good at_ ? Yeah, I know. What a concept.
I'm surprised the Bootleg X-mas gift game wasn't in the list. It's just '' Running around catching objects '' the game, that's it :S There's no cool power-ups, no levels, no pretty graphics. It's ugly and soooooo boring! Jontron talked about it in his famous Plug and play video. It was funnier and more entertaining than the game, no joke!
I knew Elf Bowling was gonna top the list, but I was surprised to see The Grinch on this list. Pretty sure being made by pre-pachinko obsession Konami saved it from being worse. It was probably just a little throwaway side project they did to get some extra cash to finish development on Metal Gear Solid 2, but it's one of my favorite platformers for the PS1. The mistake most people make is expecting it to be like the movie.
Thank you for doing this video because I've considered actually playing that Grinch PlayStation game before but now never mind! I'm not even going to waste my time.
Grinch was a decent game.. even if it's frustrating in some areas lol.. all of my neighbors play with me from November to December back in the day, taking turns and solving puzzles. Good old days.
I actually got the grinch game as a kid and I had a shocking affinity for it.. Hell, I still kind of do. It's downright awful but there is just something so charming about how piss poor it is.
I see why the artificial tree debate is so controversial. Not only is it weird to say buying a real tree is better (no it's not, it's just a ressource hog), it's also super unfair to go against artificial trees that way.
Too bad I actually like the Grinch. The original 2000 DVD I have came with a demo of it for the PC. I installed it on every computer I've owned since. I love how much you can explore Whoville in it, and I sorely miss that feature in much of today's games.
I don't know why I keep clicking on these TripleJump videos. I don't disagree with the content, I'm just not a fan of the guys constant snarky jokes. I'd rather he not try so hard to be sassy.
i actually like The Grinch Game More Then the Movie but the Ending is Horrible you definitely really don't know to play the game that's why you hate it
Yeah, so the Terror in Christmas Town segment has pretty much been lifted directly from LGR. Even down to the Pie in The Sky engine bit. Way to be lazy TripleJump.

I love Elf Bowling for PC. Leave Brittany alone!
@@LajitasRain I've heard the PC version is actually pretty good. The GBA and DS versions...not so much.
Ayo you better take The Grinch off this damn list boi 🥺
I have such fond memories of The Grinch.
Same I remember getting so excited every time I found a new blueprint
I loved that game 😁
Dude same.
I also loved the DVD games that came with the movie 🍿
Grinch fucking slapped. Right game
Dude I had the demo that I played for dozens of hours. I remember it being immersive for the time (and my age) as far as how complex some of the puzzles could get.
I loved the pc version of elf bowling. One of my favourite childhood games.
@matt still better than yours
It was a pretty fun free game but I would not be happy to have it as a full priced game.
@@monkaWGiga yes, I agree. I owned it on a demo disc with a bunch of random demos with it being the only "full" game so I played that the most.
Elf bowling was one of my favorite childhood games too.

That is why Elf Bowling is on the list. It was fine for a flash game but expect better for Nintendo's hardware.
It was a decent few flash games and the third one was... alright as a low budget low effort 3d sequel for the pc but... they milked it so hard.

The Grinch is legitimately fun. Cool level design, too.
How you gonna do the Grinch like that? I absolutely loved that game.
The Grinch was one of those games I remember renting and wasting my weekend on.
I loved me some elf bowling as a younger man it was a little distraction at a much shitter time of my life.
Any list with extra Tim Allen sound effects is a plus for me!

I was a big of Polar Bowler. Probably my favorite winter-themed game.

Elf bowling was good fun on pc. As soon as I saw it I remembered it fondly (from a few decades ago). Simpler times,I miss them
Elf Bowling is one of the best bowling games ever made.
Geeze...That Tim Allen bit hit me right as I was taking a drink. Bad timing lol. One of the funniest things I've seen in a while.
I don't think Terror in Christmas town is a doom clone, rather it's a Wolfenstein 3D clone
Doom clone was the term used before fps became the name for the genre, but yes the original Pie in the Sky games are closer to Wolf than Doom.
If people want a Christmas doom experience there are tons of WADs to play. If you want one similarly old and janky in that 90s sprite style, try H2H-Xmas.

There's an Elf Bowling movie. It's terrible. Santa was a pirate before he became Santa and Waluigi is his brother.

The Grinch is a good game
I misread the title as "Top 10 worst Christmases of all time" which I feel would be equally as entertaining and depressing.
DO NOT FORCE JAMES INTO A BRIAN SCANNER - signed - an actual Brian fearful of the consequences
misspelling, or a purposeful joke either way lets not take chances
