HOW CAN A PORCH CAUSE US SO MUCH STRESS....MORE DRAIN MISERY 😒..OUR PORCH PART 2 WE ARE BACK DIGGING. THIS TIME WE ARE DIGGING THE FOUNDATION AND RE ROUTING AN ANNOYING SURFACE WATER PIPE WHICH RUNS DIRECTLY WHERE THE WALL IS GOING.
WE FINISHED THE DIG TO OUR DEPTH THEN WE CUT THE PIPE AND RE DIRECTED IT THROUGH THE PORCH.
WE THEN SPENT THE REST OF THE DAY SHUTTERING OFF THE PIPE SO THE CONCRETE DIDN'T COME INTO CONTACT WITH IT.
FINALLY AL LEVELLED THE CONCRETE WHICH WAS BARROWED IN BY THE GREAT LADS FROM THE CONCRETE COMPANY...

Being a pro and a perfectionist is why you said it looks crappy Steve. In reality it was a complicated dig and the pour showed that what you did was spot on. Water meter is a pain but unless you want to pay ££££ you probably have the best work around. Nice to see Al doing a bit of solo work too with the pour. Top work all round.

Look lad's it's a 💔 Job, But you Learnt from it, A lot of work in Renovation is in the Sub Structure (pipes/cable's Gas and water, Shuttering ,under Pining etc) 🧱 You Know how to price, Always Price Extra for below ground, if you're going to Get 🔥 it's below ground. Great content, your Lucky to Have the Good Weather, normally it be raining 🐈 and 🐕 on ground work 😉

great job lads, l had the same, my 6m-3m extension was going to take three of us 1 day, hit the water pipe, sewer pipe and rainwater pipe. absolute nightmare, glad you got a new contract keep it up Dave.

Tough job guys. The double bend in the surface water pipe is a worry, any debris from the roof could cause a blockage.

Nice work but the water supply might cause an issue in the future if that boundary box fails you are going to struggle to repair it,what I would have done dug on the point of entry extended the duct and move the boundary box/ stopgap a meter back👍

Not an easy job to do with the drains and water pipe in the way.
I think I would have bit the bullet and had the water meter moved away from the wall and then ducted the water pipe into the house wall. I was a water engineer with the local Water Company for 50yrs and it’s surprising how many people have built extensions over water pipes and then had a burst in later years. If they had ducted the pipe or diverted it then would have saved having to dig up the floor.

Hi lads I know you said it looks crap but it's fine and serves a purpose and when the concrete is poured it will become apparent I come across this all the time I build porches for a living the last one had all 4 services and 3 different pipes in the footing nightmare job but like I say your doing a great job and love the channel ps get rid of those shovels and get long handle pointed ones for digging out best of luck guys 😊

Some jobs tou just think " why did I start this" this is where a lot of time in the ground can be swallowed up, you will be out soon, I think i would have been tempted to just do the strip to the front and use spanlites to bridge to the house.

I just placed an order for a porch. There is an inspection/rodding access point right in the middle of where I want the porch, the architect came round and seems unkeen to move it but I said "hey look at Steve and Alex's vid" - he went away to talk to building control to see if it can be moved.

Hard going. It's all down to money and bad planning. When houses are being drawn, any drainage running parallel to the house front and back should be 3.5m minimum from the house.

Hi both brilliant vids as ever can I ask I’m about to dig a foundation 0.9 deep by 0.6 width however the next door single storey wall is roughly 0.5m away from my trench should I be worried digging out the trench if I try and do the job as quickly as possible ? You advise would be most grateful

Haha love you guys but thats horrendous couldn't you just move manhole then put a renforced slab to build off drains can run under slabs as the weight is spread as long as you have rodding access. Would have saved you a load of heart ache. Sure it will look nice once finished

When you finish work out how much it would of cost. I just priced a porch 15k customer nearly had heart attack but I checked it and couldn't get price down. It was max size hipped roof fancy front door and side window. Complete job plasterered, joinery electrics ect. Let me know what you get it to

Stressful jobs indeed. Sometimes it is the big sites/jobs. Sometimes it is the small jobs...
Quite a few "unknowns," when pricing for work - and one of the biggest is the question what is underground on the job site? If only we were blessed with x-ray vision eh?
How we as Builders & Tradesmen deal with these "unknown items" is a mark of who we are. Skills such as patience, determination, trade-craft, and sometimes sheer bloody mindedness get us through, as you so ably demonstrate in many of your videos.
I always subscribed to the view of, "some you win - and some you blooming well loose." (as long as you get more winners....then your doing alright.
