Most of our senators are there to make money and not to serve the people. Senator, Akpabio is the worst senate president. He shows clear signs of not being matured for the position that he occupies. Indeed, Akpbio is a national embarrassment to himself and the senate.
Governors may not be able to account for security votes until we allow state police. If there is a state police,state governors will be forced to spend at least part of it for the state police expenses.
Akpabio is dodging the question and trying to beg the question. His answers have nothing to do with accountability and transparency. He is taking Nigerians for granted by his insensitive answers to Ningi questions.
It is not every issue you make a joke out of. The Honorable Senator who has never been a governor before asked a legitimate question and the answer provided by the Senate President that when you become a governor you will find out was not what the senator was expecting and neither was the audience watching this session. As a former governor he should have given a straight answer. One of the reasons why people welcome the new Livestock Ministry was that would help resolved the long time conflicts between the farmers and the herdsmen. However, main while the idea of passing a law that criminalize herdsmen attacking farmers crops with their cows should be put in place. One would think the law makers from the part of the country where this conflict is rampart would welcome the idea of passing a law that criminalize these unnecessary killings of law abiding citizens. Are citizens from this part of the country were these killings are taking place now concern as to why this happens all the time in the region? These incidents are though not isolated across the country but when they do happen elsewhere in the country they are not as damaging at it happens in the north. The people from the region know exactly what the problems are4 but fail to address them squarely. The government is not designed to face problems occurring in one part of the country alone. The crisis between the farmers and the herdsmen in the north is not between people of two different nation but people of the same ethnic group and religion. Why can this people resolve their problem? The government is meant to provide protection for every citizens and the citizens owe it to each other to have peace. If the herds men in the south were causing problem in the north the entire situation would have taken a different dimension and a stop put to it at all cost. The people in the northern part of Nigeria should learn to be their own keepers as it is becoming evident that no matter the attention given by the government at the center there can never be a solution to the insecurity in the north until the people take the bull by the horn and say enough is enough.
Raising Cattle is a Business. Why can't the cattle owners set up ranches to raise their cattle, instead of moving them around till they invade people's farms? If the Govt sets up ranches for cattle rearers to raise their animals, they should also set up farms for those who want to grow crops too. Govt should stop trying to cower to those who are rearing cattle. It becomes giving them undue advantage.
Ningi is raising a very good question. Governors convert the security vote as personal emolument. Smart stealing???
