A couple of more tips from a safety perspective. That's a great job for which to wear your safety glasses. The exhaust coming out of the driver can blow loose material around. Also a great one for which to use your impact sockets. Impact and air tools can chip off shards of nickel from the plated ones. Keep on tractoring.

Nice job Jon. I really like your "low narration" video style. Enjoy you in the videos too, of course, but just telling the story visually works really nicely. 👍👍 from me!

Thanks Chris, I value your opinion! Didn’t really know where I wanted to go with this video at first. Just starting recording and made it up later.
      Keep on tractoring!

Hey Jon, nice upgrade, and good advice not to use a flail mower as a stump grinder.. but it sure does well at blue flashlights though 🤣 thanks Jon.

Oh yes for sure, still finding little pieces of blue plastic in the yard! 😂

Jon, like your videos. We both have the brand of flail mower. A wise man uses jack stands under the raised equipment during work. Time on rescue squad is a great teacher.

Those bolts along with some other scrap can put a few bucks back in your pocket!

Congratulations on a lesson that you have learned. I think that you should use the stump bucket to do stumps.

Just a little FYI, the new bolts should not have threads that touch the drum mounts. The threads are the weakest link from hammer to mounting tabs. I'll try and send you a video of my next mulching job. Good day Jon

I realize yours is old, but what would you recommend for the pneumatic wrench you used? thanks, Bob

Im looking at getting a subcompact tractor soon to replace my old zero turn, and to have for additional stuff around the property. Do you believe a flail mower with proper blades would be fine for mowing the lawn, or would a finish mower still be recommended.

A flail mower with Y blades could definitely mow just as nice or better than a zero turn. HOWEVER, after mowing for years with my BX and for the past 2 years using a zero turn I will never go back. A zero turn is so much more maneuverable and faster and more comfortable to use. A tractor I’m sure would help you get all sorts of tasks done but mowing shouldn’t be one of them.
      Keep on tractoring!

Do you use lock tight on the nuts? Mine keep coming loose

I am not real familiar on what you use the flail mower for, buy why did you go with hammer blades rather than y blades.
    Nice upgrade video. 🎉

Hammer blades are like a utility use as it will deal with sticks and small diameter trees. Y blades will only do grass and that's about it
