- Welcome to Episode 2 of my new series Thrift Store Glow up! Two of my friends made a trip to our local Goodwill and found me some INSANE items to breathe new life into. What am I getting myself into?!
In this video I demolish a beautiful wooden music box in the hopes that I can turn it into a Birthday Cake to celebrate my first 1000 Subscribers! It was covered in dust and cigarette ash and smelled SO BAD! So I'm more than happy to turn this antique into something new and kawaii complete with a brand new music box!
I am SO happy I started this series and I canNOT wait to fix up old thrift store items and give them a gorgeous Glow Up!

So fun! My girls and I love to watch Moriah Elisabeth so watching you do this was awesome! Great job! When I saw the monkey, my first thought was reading in the rain. (Just got my S&T box with the cloud/rain scene). Maybe you can create an umbrella from the flower and paint a raincoat on him then do like resin water dripping? Can’t wait to see what you decide for him!

I might have some answers about the music box. I was very surprised to see it in the video! It is from the city of Granada in Spain, the actual box is a typical art from the city called “taracea”. The bottom part is like a souvenir which is a replica of “El patio de los leones” a part of the “Alhambra”, a very beautiful monument from the 1300s in the Al-Andalus time.
The music is one of the most typical in these boxes, i am not sure where the melody comes from but the workshops just call it “the Granada music”.
I just know this because i live here, i hope you find it interesting :)

Kinda wish you had let the original object dictate your glow-up more. Mostly I mourn for the lovely wood inlay on top that is now covered up, never re-emerge. The detailed lions feel like they need some convincing gold spray paint and the lovely, detailed engraving on the architecture deserves to be played with in any reincarnation. You could have made it your own kind of castle or garden gazebo with your own little dollhouse furniture, but it would also be interesting to go the route of putting a normal-size flower arrangement into the bottom and painting whatever you wished to match that.
