Good morning, Steve 🌿💚🌿from Windermere, Florida zone 9b USA 🇺🇸 We've had our 1 freeze here and now it's warming up. Our winters are wee short 👍 Time for Seeds in the ground and get moving👩🌾Peggy 👍
It's nice to see so many other youtuber gardeners talking about their flower growing as well. I used to get a lot of negativity for talking talking about my flowers and flowerbeds so loving the support of other channels now 😀 thanks Steve 😊
Hi Steve great vids we both enjoy watching you. My husband is not a gardener and as you were talking about sowing flowers he commented that maybe you show a pic of each flower you are talking about, as he has no idea what they all are and I have to keep googling to show him each flower. Thanks, Barbara
I followed your autumn sown sweet peas lost a few to slugs but hoping they survive till spring. Great video as I will be doing a mix of flowers and veg.
Hi Steve like you we grow flowers as well and they are classed as a crop as we use them to brighten our flat or gift to our friends and family, but your more on the ball than us at the moment. Keep safe Bill and val
Howdy from Tejas Steve!👋 What a good idea to start some of our flowering plants in late fall for the next year. That certainly spreads out the to do tasks.🙂 Today I am potting up a few Shasta Daisy seeds I sprouted using the paper towel method. Here they are perennial. 👩🏾🌾
This is such a great video Steve, I’ve been playing with winter sowing this year and have poppies, ammi, cornflower, strawflower and Welsh onion, zebrune shallots and white Lisbon spring onions that grew sown winter and protected in my plastic mini greenhouse; it’s a great technique! I’ve had a setback because the storm blew my fence down that hit the little greenhouse and shunted most of it onto the floor so some I need to resow now but at least I have time and it takes the pressure off spring when we start growing things that can only be sown then. Thanks again for sharing your expertise! Very helpful and useful info indeed! 🪴🌹🌼🌸
Well done Clare for having a go, this is the best way of all to learn something new. What a shame about the strom and all the damage you had but again you are right because you have time to resow and start again...Steve...😃
Thanks Steve. Timely as always. I'm still a new boy to veg growing but enjoyed gardening all my life, so companion planting is new to me. I'm learning. I planted basil and marigolds with tomatoes last year and had a great result. Looking into it more this year.
Very interesting Steve, I do enjoy your videos. I also have plants that I Autumn sowed, both veg and flowers. My gardening has developed in the opposite way, from mostly flowers and shrubs for floristry to more and more veg space in raised beds during retirement. Best wishes from East Yorkshire.
Hey Steve, I love the whole idea of the companion planting and succession planting both are new to mee the past two years. Last year I started several perennials that flower the 2nd year so this year will be exciting to see these I think it was 6-7 flowers. I really want to establish a perennial flower garden get them in growing well together and just maintain them year by year. Very excited for the 2022 garden!! take care thank you for the video bye for now
Hai Steve, (or maybe someone else...) Thanks for another great video...What is a: dorcas carrot ? Ik translated dutch-english, but all I could find was a recycle-clothes organisation... Iemand in het Nederlands??? 👩🌾 And...what means the "last"'word in your video's ? Google said: Toronto..😂 but I don't think so... tell me
Hi Estella, it is "Daucus Carrota" the latin name for wild carrot, I have always just called them "Daucus", the word I say at the end is "Tarra now" it means "Goodbye"...Steve...😃
Things that drop their seed and they grow the year after having survived the winter grow as you’re just replicating nature, it’s amazing! Because they’re out in the cold they naturally grow really slowly until the light picks up then they’re off! Try cornflowers if you’re experimenting, I did variety black ball a couple of weeks ago and the seedlings are up, just grown in a mushroom tub with another clear lid taped on top then left outside
Thanks Steve. What do you do to de-slug the polytunnel? I haven’t done it yet and now I am worried - do see a few bites on my kale which is going strong.
Thanks so much, Steve! Really enjoyed the next video. I had no idea that slugs can hide in compost! Great tip to sieve for them. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge with us!
Hi Steve, love the videos! I'm in my second year of having an allotment and i find your videos very helpful, so thank you. How are your leeks getting on? i planted some about the same time as you (the ones in your green house in the white tub), no sign of anything with mine yet, i was just wandering if yours had started to germinate yet? Andy.
Hi Andy, mine are just coming through now and are about an inch or so tall, there is plenty of time for them yet, keep your soil moist but not waterlogged......Steve...😃
Good companies give value for money, the question you need to ask and find answers for is why some companies give less seeds and charge more for them...Steve...😃
Hi Steve can you help? I live in Workington, am looking for someone to put up and re in force a polytunnel for me as you have done... Can't find anyone in my area!! I'm thinking you live around here, do you have anyone you can recommend? Please help! Regards... Sarah
Thanks for the focus on flowers again.

I love seeing flowers decorating allotments/ veggie patches. Calendula, sunflowers and marigolds are some of my favourites. Guess I like yellow.

Steve. Caterpillars in my carrot bed what do you recommend to get rid of them?
A slow and methodical look through to remove them by hand, be gentle with the foliage because they can fall off and quickly dissappear...Steve...😃
