I was incorrect in stating that semi permanent hair color burns thru the cuticle. It doesn't but it is alkaline enough to slightly lift the cuticle to assist in partial hair color penetration. I don't know what other way to say it, but anything that you do to your hair that works against what it naturally is or does is potentially damage.... Heat styling, semi/demi/permanent color, lightener, relaxer, perms etc. These processes can physically and chemically alter your hair permanently. Proper application and technique is necessary to mitigate and minimize any and all damage. Know that it is the equivalent to wearing a new shoe outside. No matter how careful you are. The shoe will still get dirty and look worn in... Even when you are considerate about the shoes you only delay the shoe getting dirty from wearing it out so much.
Hello there, yes here we are protecting our brand! 🤗Our prices start at $650 at Hair’s Talent.Every Certified GinaCurl stylists has their own set price. California GinaCurl stylist starts at $950. There are no GinaCurl Certified stylists in Florida, so not sure what she had done and who did it. We do not supply any products to stylists in Florida. We apply the chemical throughout the hair when the client is virgin. When the client comes back for a retouch the ends are protected by our protection cream and the chemical is never apply to the perm rods. It takes up to 1 1/2 hours to process so when rinsing the chemical out the ends don’t have enough time to absorb the chemical. Again we do not have a GinaCurl Stylists in Florida. You can roller set, do braid outs, do twist outs, sit under a hooded dryer and change up your style. The hair does not get lighter with the GinaCurl because like other neutralizer we do not have hydrogen peroxide in our neutralizer. That’s what lightens the hair when doing a curly perm. Would love to chat to share the facts about the GinaCurl. Peace and respect!
@@GinaCurl yeah girl... I and my client stated all of that. You need to go back to the drawing board because everyone's coming out now with how damage your product has left their hair. I just realized that this was a thing. The videos I watched were all about 3 years old or more and to date I also noticed all of the women are either wearing wigs/weaves, restarted their natural hair journey or flat out abandoned their channels. That whole process should’ve been left behind in the last century.
Sounds like that product back in the 90’s that was taking people’s hair out. It was called Rio - my mom almost bought it. I would’ve been bald headed for sure. It was too good to be true!
@@graceandpeace4414Yes, I remember Rio too! Always came on late at night, wee hours of the morning. My aunt actually bought and tried it in her hair when we were in our 30's. Took her hair out. The only good thing is that it lead her to go natural and has been natural every since. Things like that always scared me. Like you said, to good to be true.
Did something similar called Hawaiian Silky. Hated that thing. My mom insisted on "manageability". I didn't see the point of growing out a relaxer just to get chemical curls. Mom did 1 retouch and i said i didn't want it after that. Had to start over and grow it out
I was thinking it was the opposite because I haven't been to a salon in over 20 years and I don't think they ever did an "interior cut" the way I see the stylists on UA-cam doing. They would just cut my hair straight across (maybe in a U shape though) in one go, whether it was shoulder length, mid-back, waist length at the time. So I was thinking this better, more thorough way of cutting was a newer thing and I was missing out back then. But maybe I just wasn't going to the right places. Or maybe they were really doing that and I just couldn't see it and didn't realize it? I doubt that though. I wish there was some way I could know for sure.
I had a Jherri curl back in the day. I just remember that the curls don’t last long and become puffy and frizzy after an awhile. You had to keep it moist all the time for it to look halfway decent. Also I just remember when I was younger that my Mom wouldn’t let us go swimming because she was afraid if we got the chlorine in our hair it would fall out. Eventually i ended up transitioning out and then getting a relaxer which I would go onto have for the next 20 years of my life lol
My mom made me get a jeri curl when I was 11 and it was only $45 back then! But I remember having to be in the salon damn all day getting that ish done. Because you have to go under the dryer a few times, it was hell 😩
Great advice! I’d love to see a video review on the “ Amino Acid Treatment” for naturals who want a silk press temporarily and return to natural curly texture. I hear Design Essentials has a line for this. What are your thoughts?
Hi, not Narada, but I do the amino acid treatment, have been doing it for 3 years! I love it! Has not damaged my hair or curls but here’s the catch. It does not “wash out” like every one says. When I retouch, I only apply the treatment to my new growth not the entire shaft of my hair like the instructions say to prevent over processing. It’s a very mild chemical, nothing like a relaxer, but no chemical is safe to reapply to the entire hair shaft over and over. Also, every 3 months reapplication is excessive. I do every 6 months.

Ok, I'ma be ignorant, cause I missed the demi conversation (2 weeks into my first bottle of Clairol B09W on virgin hair) 🤦🏾: What's the difference between that deposit and the claims of deposit only by oVertone? They seem to have the same rules as demi, regarding your base color determining how effective your result will be (meaning me, a dark person with dark, non lightened hair, is only going to get so much color payoff). What chem composition might keep it out of the porosity changing category as semi/demi?
Demi uses a very lower developer to slightly raise the cuticle and deposit color shallowly inside the hair. It can theoretically loosen the cuticle a little bit but shouldn't cause holes the way higher developers do. Semi permanent does not use developer at all, you're basically just staining the outside of the cuticle. Did you ever see blonde girls dying their hair with koolaid in school? Idk if thats still a thing teenagers do .. anyway thats basically the same as semi permanent dyes. They don't actually lift the cuticle at all but they can and do build up on the outside of the cuticle over time.
@@amandawilson890 Clairol is semi, I'm good!? Whew I'll take this information back with me the next time I Google. But I currently still need the oVertone product addressed

Yeah, these new stylist only cut straight across. That's it. Lol.

If old school stylists were so great, there would be more love and appreciation for natural hair and less use of wigs and weaves.
My hair is tickling my waist now, I would never pay 900 € to get my hair damaged 😭.

I have always wondered how the curl pattern would be consistent for a retouch if she is not applying the perm to throughout the lengths and ends.
